  1. Oh yeah, it's important to note that "All the appropriate Rolex markings in all the appropriate places, including the clasp, dial, back."
  2. I'd be in for one.
  3. I too love double ar on Pams. I know it's inaccurate but it looks so good. Nice looking piece.
  4. I think they're still in the works, it's just that the manufacturer screwed them up 2 times and it's something like a 4 week wait each time they do...so he's very frustrated with the whole thing (understandably) but he's still moving forward with the process...and waiting for them to get it right.
  5. I too have Chiefs single ar on my 188 and it's subtle but does a remarkable job at reflecting light. I knew something was up with the crystal when I received the watch but then the previous owner confirmed that indeed, it did have the single ar. I actually would prefer the single ar on my pam reps and hope that Chief gets another run going. He said there just wasn't enough interest...but perhaps there should be.
  6. Well, if you were able to get a matte dial 16800, hold onto that baby, they are getting rarer by the minute. As I'm sure you know, my 16800 has the gen transitional dial with the white gold surroundings. The indices have developed a nice patina though.
  7. That's a beauty of a watch...nice...
  8. @ alligoat Can you show some pics of your 16800. I've got a 16800 franken that I've been forever adding to and I'd like to compare it to yours. Indeed I think the gen subs are slightly bigger than the 16610s mostly in the bezel. Sorry to threadjack!
  9. Hummm You're kidding I hope. You've got far too many posts to be asking these sorts of questions...
  10. These things are a true beauty to wear...still regret selling mine...enjoy!
  11. Very scary but intriguing story. Glad to hear no one got hurt. A situation I'd never want to be in but I'm sure it was small potatoes to what you'd experienced while in the service. No doubt your instincts took over.
  12. It looks good to me to but I think if I were buying it, I'd insist on a shot of the movement...that is the only way to tell for sure these days.
  13. Ditto that, AR application is not a DYI process. Chief can elaborate more but I think it involves heating a powder and the crystal to a very high temperature...and a bunch of other stuff... Trust me, there is a reason folks wait months to get their watches ar'd...it's quite the process but the results are amazing.
  14. You will need a crystal press to install the crystal...so it doesn't make much sense to remove the crystal with your thumbs, and then buy a crystal press just for installing the crystal. Why not use the crystal press for both...that's what it's for. Just my cents...
  15. You do need to remove the case back...and you need a crystal press. You can pick up a modest one for $30 or so. I think there are some posts on the board about this. But you WILL need a crystal press to remove the crystal and most definitely to install the crystal.
  16. I will definitely not be opening/taking this movement apart.
  17. Well, I uncased the movement and tried to insert the stem and get it to lock...with no luck. The stem will not lock into place and pulls out of the movement with relative ease.
  18. Great, I'll give that a go when I get home tonight. Thanks!
  19. Well it wasn't me...lol...I've uncased several dozen watches and have always paid mind to the keyless works...I'm anal about that. I'm hoping Zig will chime in and hopefully sort it out somewhat.
  20. I've got a 7753 powered 188 with a small issue and need a little insight. First please excuse me if my watch vernacular is a bit off, I'll try to explain the situation the best I can... Ok, so after first receiving the watch I pull the crown out to adjust the time which was fine...the when pushing the crown back in, I couldn't get the stem to engage with the movement...so the watch wouldn't run...as if it was still in the time setting position. As you know, the crown seems to have a spring which pushes it out when the crown guard lever is released....so there is no need to pull the crown out like for the manual wind pams. Well when I pushed the crown in against the spring pressure, nothing happened and it just bounced back out and was still in the time setting position...after about 5 minutes of trying, all of a sudden it engaged and started running fine. Didn't really think much of it once it started working. So, the same thing happened Saturday when I put the watch on again to go out that evening. So I thought it best to remove the case back, crown guard, and to remove the crown/stem and reinsert to see if I could figure out what was going on. Well once those cg & case back were removed, I grasped the crown with my finger tips pulling ever so slightly and went to slowly push the stem release button but to my amazement, the stem just released with very little pulling pressure...and without even pushing the stem release button. The stem reinserts fine to the wind position but when I attempt to pull it out to set the time, it just comes completely out of the movement with relative ease. It's not locked in the movement like with all of my ETA autos. My question is then, what exactly is going on here? This is my first chrono so perhaps they behave differently from the standard non chrono autos. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks
  21. Depends on the dealer, care to share?
  22. The vintage bordeaux and is the same as the bordeuax...I'm not sure where she gets the vintage from though....lol
  23. If it were a little more smooth, I'd probably try it out.
  24. Like the vintage brown, the vintage green is so soft it's almost startling. They are super pliable from the get go...sort of hard to explain. Imagine a strap that you've had for a long time and it is really broken in and soft...well that's how the vintage green and vintage brown are right out of the box. The vintage bordeaux, though absolutely stunning visually, is the stiffest of the Simonas...but with wear, it's breaking in rather nicely. The vintage tan is somewhere in the middle. The v. tan is the one I sold because it was too short...though I might pick one up for my newly acquired 188 as I bet it will look stellar. Another thing I love about them is that they come in 150/90, which all of my Simonas are. The smell of Simona's straps is absolutely intoxicating though. I've never smell my straps as much as I do now...I'm sure I look like a creep but they smell so good.
