  1. Do you have any watchmakers locally? I have had a number of these show up on the bench, not one has proven to be a match for a high quality crystal press and dies, all the crystals were pressed and seated correctly. If you are using a cheap press and/or cheap dies it can be a problem getting the crystal to seat. The watch doesn't even have to be taken apart nor the bracelet removed to press the crystal flush. Try someone locally, not a "Mall Watchmaker" who knows squat, someone with the proper tools... Good luck.
  2. So why would the idiot with the violin not go out and buy a $25 one at a pawn shop, and destroy it...and keep the real one... Always a danger selling stuff, other than in person that is.
  3. She has been terrorizing the neighbourhood...or the "hood" as she like to call it...got her colours on and leathers.
  4. If I am reading everything correctly, the cannon and hour wheels on the movement are too BIG in Diameter for the genuine hands? So if that is the case, the fix is really simple, all you do is cut down the diameter of the cannon and hour pipes to accept the genuine hands. Problem solved. As for the stem why would having a gen stem matter, the odds of the keyless works parts fitting is virtually nil, I think it's irrelevant. But on the hands, there is an easy fix.
  5. Stay away from the top version...it is an absolute piece of CRAP. Someone tricked me a few years back by not being up front and honest and sending me a 1655 with this garbage inside..."lets see, if I don't say anything...he won't know...he he he..."...well I had a bad feeling as soon as I removed the dial, instead of re-assembling and going on my guts, I decided to service it...what a nightmare, with the garbage movement and with the customer who is no longer a customer. Lets say it went to hell in a handbasket. STAY away from the top one at all costs...you would be better making up your own modification with some rusty nails and pieces of garbage found on the road. Don't be fooled like I was.
  6. Please make sure you have all the information http://www.rwg.cc/topic/139883-pam252-relume-job/
  7. Without detailed pictures it's really impossible to add any comments directed at this particular movement. Going back 5 years, when the first GMT movements came out and I did my detailed review and analysis, the base movement was an ETA 2836-2, with a aftermarket GMT module. That first model was absolute garbage, the GMT modification was crap. Having seen my share of these during the past 5 years, I can say that the base movement is irrelevant, put a Ferrari engine in a Yugo - and you still have a Yugo. Overall the quality of the asian GMT modification varies, from crap to quite good quality, the quality is all over the place and it doesn;t matter when or who you bought the watch from, what you get for quality is anyone's guess... So basically nothing new, 5 years ago we had ETA based GMT movements.
  8. I think it would be a challenge to get the caseback off with a rubber ball. Not to mention, how do you ensure proper seal and a tight caseback when installing it? A proper tool is less than $100, I think Offshore carries them...for the want of a nail...
  9. I haven't even had my tea and I just read this. You realize of course that you have ruined my day, I believe I had a visual, or was that cockeyed...whatever...
  10. You got it. This "modification" has been around for some time, I have seen a number of them and they are all the same, just like a cod piece, it's fake and does nothing at all...
  11. We were probably writing at the same time. It's not a bridge at all, it's simply a stand alone piece screwed down to look like a bridge, it's in effect a double cock...
  12. That movement has been around for a long time... The "arm" on the right side is fake, it just sits there and looks like it connects to the balance cock...it doesn't... Asian 2836 copy with painted gears, and sadly I haven't seen any good GMT movements, some are ok, but none are good.
  13. Given the quality of the lume application on the dial, I think that is the least of your problems. It looks awaful. So maybe this is a good thing and you can have the dial lume fixed at the same time...
  14. DO NOT SHIP TO Italy. Refund the money and call it a day....your BEST option no matter what, sorry, your ONLY option if you don't want a complete train wreck on your hands...
  15. You can't swap your Asian out and replace it with an ETA. Best option is to find a watch with the movement you want already installed.
  16. Well don't see you post very often, great to see you around...
  17. No manufacturer is going to put 2 or more metal parts in the same container, especially Rolex, and have the parts beat up and scratched from hitting each other. Even movement parts are supplied 1 each in their individual blister packs. Call BS on this one... Open blister pack = questionable part. Hence the reason they are in sealed packs, to be able to validate the origin.
