  1. Ok back home now. I stand by my guess that its a gen dial. Most likely D Serial. Roughly 2005-2006. Don't think lugholes are accurate for that era. Seafoam could be correct. Bit fat for a Sean case. ST case that's had the lugs drilled a bit and chamfered.
  2. Hey. I'm in the middle of coaching sons basketball teams practice.
  3. Sean case. Gen dial
  4. I take it you want the bracelet links and not the clasp. TBH, I believe I have a spare V3 link set but I'm frankly too lazy to look in the parts bin, box, drawer, table. Gimme a couple weeks while I muster up the strength.
  5. There is a rubber O-ring gasket under the retaining ring. It looks to me that on one side, the gasket is not seated in the groove. As a result the retaining ring cannot seat down evenly. The o-ring is getting pinched. The crystal retaining ring needs to be removed and re installed. You should of course replace the plastic 2.7mm(?) crystal gaskets everytime you remove the retaining ring.
  6. Nope.. Too many fakes out there
  7. I say skip the cases. With the $1500 sales for fat font inserts I've seen on VRM over the past year, the value trade here is to make gen quality faded inserts....with perfect printing. Seriously, how hard could it be? Plus you won't go to jail for making dull black metal rings.
  8. I have a few sealed 8000 tubes and would gladly trade them for sealed 702 tubes
  9. I completely agree. Once your watch is taken to a third party (watchsmith and/or modder), then any warranty you may have provided are null and void. It's only common sense. Maybe the 3rd party modder f--ked up somewhere and then claims the damage or defect was there before he got it. Case and point: The recent TC fiasco over on RWI regarding a "defect" in the case that was allegedly discovered by a modder. Regardless of the claim, it should be understood that once work begins by another party, they do so at their own risk, not yours.
  10. Or ... sell both and build one of these and get the best of both worlds
  11. 1665. "Everyone" has a 16610. With proceeds, buy a 1570 and a gen dial/hands (non red of course
  12. Hey. As long as you like it, go for it. You said you love it. So wear it. As long as you don't go around claiming its gen, I think you'll be ok. However..... I think its butt-ass fugly. I would never wear it ... ever. But I'm not you.
  13. Yes. It's for the greater good of our sport...errr ..... hobby.
  14. Even if it does fit (which I'm fairly certain it will), how will you attach it to the movement? I'm assuming you are using an eta 2836 or similar. If so you'd have to cut (egads!) the feet and slap it on with some dial dots. Alternatively get a gen 3135... But I doubt that would fit in a cartel rep case easily. IMHO, a gen dial without gen hands is a non starter. I'd say skip on the gen dial and apply that money to another project - unless you are willing to go down the gen movement route. Do NOT cut feet from gen dials
  15. You could just use dial dots.
  16. GMT=gen, Sub C=rep
  17. Bill Yao has a cult following. He makes great watches.
  18. The difference is, the Kingston sold for a premium. Beautiful watch.
  19. Is he from Sweden? Did you cut the feet from the gen dial?
  20. Luv it! Little arrow rocks. Crystal looks off though.
  21. roughly $6-6.5k
  22. Thanks all. it was a project filled with love and hate. Considered abandoning the project all together last month and parting out what I had, until the magical dial appeared from the depths of despair. My wallet is considerably lighter, but a great burden has finally been lifted.
  23. After going through eta movements, TC and Yuki dials (and even a gen glossy dial), bracelet options.. Modding end links, etcetc, my exhausting (and expensive) 16660 project is now complete. Thank you @lionsandtigers for your help in finding the elusive gen matte dial. For those of you that are familiar with the 666, the matte dial , especially a MKI dial,is one of the rarest dials in Rolexdom. I highly advise not starting a project like this unless you source the dial FIRST! Specs: Gen everything. Yes, everything...gen case, Caseback, 3035, crown, tritium insert, bezel assembly, 93160 bracelet, crystal, matte dial and hands.
  24. I have a gen Pepsi insert I could sell you. NOS. PM me if interested
  25. If one were to consider building a Franken pre moon, how much is a 321 movement going for these days? I don't think dial and hands are much of a problem. But the movement appears quite scarce. Thks
