  1. Like throat yogurt? How about muff diver? Fudge packer? This is ridiculous.
  2. I have the stainless steel version of this watch and I agree with you on the movement. It is rock solid, smooth and accurate. No doubt the re-lum should to be done. But, if you don't care about that then let it be, the watch still works great. On the cyclops, I see what you're saying. Prior to your posting I was assuming it was a problem with me because I need glasses for close up reading. No why in the world could I read that date w/o glasses on. What I am not aware of at all were any problems with the crown. And, yes, it is a touch expensive. I would have purchased a watch like yours but I didn't trust the coating and you have more or less verified my reasons for not buying one when "decision" time came. Tim
  3. All the more reason "da boyz" should jump on this right now. Slap a high end Swis (real) movement in it and beat Rolex to the market place.
  4. Oh, rubbish...............! You ruined my night, dude.
  5. No truer words were ever written. If you've ever been there and wondered what the hole is for in the middle of one of those round tables? Believe me, you don't want to know, or, go there......... yuck..!
  6. You sure that's a 4 jewel movement? Did you look close? Could be there are none.
  7. While sitting at a bar one day a guy I know turned to me and said, "Whazzat thing?" Considering the question I told him it was just a big shiny watch and it had big numbers so my eyes could read what time it was. He said, "Oh, nice."
  8. What good would that do? Tell you what, if the spies are reading this [bet on it] then the Admin ought to look for a sudden increase in VIP membership status. Also, how are you going to determine who is forthright and who isn't? For all you know I'm a spy, and for all I know you're a spy. There's no controlling that because the membership is worldwide, not local. Police it? Ridiculous. Tim
  9. Why don't you try Duke University or the University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill. If you want a high end law degree the others are wonderful, but, so are Duke and UNC@Chapel Hill. The better of those two is Duke.
  10. Rats!
  11. Does this mean you know the time when your mother-in-law is coming over this weekend?
  12. Would you wear a big bulky watch to a black tie affair? Start from there and work backwards and you'll have your answer.
  13. Exactly. This watch is an accident looking for a place to happen. Actually, there have been accidents based on previous postings of this watch. Looks great, but, like you say, the movement is the killer. You're buying something that you KNOW is going to f**k up. You can't upgrade the movement, that's been settled. Here's an idea, get on the roof of your house and toss the money to the winds. Buy it or toss the money, the end result is the same.
  14. Indeed that was very clever and cute. Admittedly, it tossed me back in my chair for a second. Nice job. Tim
  15. If I were you I would go into PayPal and change my password IMMEDIATELY. Right now might be too late. Also, if you are on FleBay change that password as well.
  16. I've been following this Johnnywatch guy for a long time and he does have some decent watches. Most are previously owned, but, the prices he gets seem to be fair. Also, if you look at this feedback it's almost 100% so what he's selling is real. If any of what he was selling was fake the feedback would reflect it. Also, if you miss one you want just wait, he'll show up with more of the same. Tim
  17. I hear ya on that! Actually, I look forward to Neil's postings. I anticipate them. I chuckle over most of his rants because he's being honest with all of us, especially himself. Insofar as his, or, anyone else's, profit goes, they're entitled to as much as the market will bear. As far as I'm concerned if they're not making a MINIMUM of 30% then they're in the wrong business in my opinion. As Neil and others have said, they're the ones taking the risk. Not to state the obvious, but, no one is twisting anyone's arm to buy what they're selling. Read what they have to say about whatever it is they're selling, and, most of all, buyer beware, and that's true with anything you buy. Tim
  18. Spot on, Neil. Tim
  19. Probably not much. After all, they do have their Internet sales. And, who is to say that any dealer isn't selling under a different name on the Net? Ever taken a look at www.ioffer.com? Hundreds and hundreds of watches in there. Are they any good? Who knows? Maybe we get Tier 1 here [maybe not] and the ones you see for sale in the Internet are sold by the same people, but, those are Tier 2. Whatever................. Tim
  20. I played with the photo some. Does this help anyone? Tim
  21. I misspoke, and, yes, you're right on that. Please excuse that portion of the post. However, the other factors concerning the HHB are spot on. I've been told on more than one occasion, and by presumed experts on this subject, that the Swiss 7750 isn't compatible with the casing, thus the switch to the Swiss movement is a no go. It's a curious thing, or, it is to me, that the mfg'er could put forth such grand efforts into making a near copy of the HHB, yet, forego the engine that runs it. Sort of a like, -- all show and no go. Kind of like a BMW 750 series car with an Opel engine in it. Makes no sense. Tim
  22. You know that's interesting. There are some serious quality watches that are made in Japan and I'm not too sure I'd discount them at first glance w/o doing some research on the quality of the case and the quality of the movement. I have a Seiko watch that I purchased in Vietnam back in 1966. It has an automatic movement and to this day it tells accurate time. Also, I've never had it serviced. Now that was over 40 years ago so I'm going to take a flier on this and believe they've improved things some. My 2-cents. Tim
  23. My understanding of this watch is that they cannot place a Swiss 7750 in it, therefore you're left with the A7750. I think the Asian 7750 is a fine movement as long as you limit it to 2 or fewer sub dials, and neither one should be at 6. I have a couple of Panerai watches with the A7750 in it and they are dead on, but, would I trust that movement on a 3 sub dial watch? Not in my life time, no! As good as it looks, and it does look good, I'd never touch it. Tim
  24. That might have been a misplace response, but, the facts are the same. :-)
  25. Hey Tim, Great! 90 degrees F today, clear and just a slight breeze. I don't regret moving south... Tim
