I guess that's like PAM XXX watches. Fugly thru and thru. And the Rolex (any of them) is right there with the PAM XXX (any of them). Well, no harm intended there, it's just what anyone likes. Whatever it takes to get you thru the night is fine by me. Tim

I'm happy you wrote that. It truly is a butt-ugly watch. It's just Fugly.

It's coming, but, you're going to have to wait a while. Not sure what "a while" is time wise, but, don't hold your breath.

Yeah, old telegraph keys. I'm a Ham Radio dude and I just got into back about 25 years ago. At first it was sort of innocent, but, then it changed into something else. Some of you think you have a lot of watches, right? Shoot, I had over 400 of these critters at one time. Not my brightest day. If you want to see them go to www.k4tjp.net and follow the link to telegraph. Some of what you see, if you look, are rather historic. There's one puppy in there, a Knox, that I could part out and buy almost any kind of gen watch you could toss at me (within reason). It was a fun thing to do and I enjoyed taking a nasty ass POS and bring it back to the land of the living. Tim

I've been told that it is not possible and that's my reason for not buying it. I don't trust the movements life expectancy. Show me this watch (more or less daily use) in one, two, or, five years from now working properly. I don't think so. Maybe with help from the watch repair experts, but, not on its own. But, that's just my opinion and we all know what opinions are.

Looks great to me. I'd be a buyer if it were out there. Tim

That's sweet, dude....

You know, I've seen this before on other sites and it always puzzles me. I collect telegraph keys, mostly prior to 1900, and some of the list owners think of themselves as Gods. They dictate THEIR morals and they want you to follow THEIR thought process. And, if you don't then they simply boot you off. How mature. I run a list in Google Groups that is a 'by invitation only.' It's set up that way because we want to keep it small (no more than 40 members worldwide) and intimate. The larger the group list becomes the more problems pop up simply because there are so many different personalities. It's to be expected. Even on the small list I run there's in-fighting. You just accept it and move on. And, I'm not immune to it because I run the List either. They get into me, too, but, I pay not attention to it. Life's to short for crap like booting people because you take exception to what they say. List owners need to be adults, not spoiled children.

This Is Off Topic! Laundry.. Need A New Machine!
Lyndonville replied to Everythingape's topic in The looney bin
I have seen that machine and it's excellent. Good choice. You'll be amazed how much more quickly the laundry gets done. Very fast, very efficent. One thing you need to remember is electricity will make a shirt bone dry. If you can remember, pull it out when it's about 90-95% dry and put it on an hanger to dry the rest of the way. However, yours may have a "mist" injector in it and that would mean you could by-pass what I just said. Good luck, great machines. Tim -

Buy any high end front loader. Be sure to get the optional stand. If you have gas then get a gas dryer to match. There are some excellent units out there, but, they're costly. Most very good ones cost 1000USD "each." They use very little water, and if you gas the dryer is cheap to run. If you only have elec then it's still cheaper to operate. You will NOT regret buying them. We've had ours for 5 years now and the work like a charm, but, there are better ones out there now than what we have. Tim -
After many assumptions the only thing I can figure out, and it is visible if you look carefully, is that they are not both perfect 30/60/90 triangles. If they were, they would both have 32.5 square units of some measure, but, when the subordinate colored parts are calculated they each only come up with 32 square units, again assuming that the triangle parts are 30/60/90. The top drawing is larger than the bottom one, clearly visible when looked at closely, so, the math does not apply. The top triangle is one square unit larger than the bottom one. Good diversion. -

Where Did You Graduate From And What Degrees Do You Hold?
Lyndonville replied to thomasng's topic in The looney bin
So, with degrees from Cornell, Harvard, and Columbia, and, with homes on LI, St. T's and West Palm, you buy replicas?????? -
I stand corrected. Thanks for the education.

Depend on how important it is to you if you wake up often at night. Of course I thought that's why we had clocks on our bedside tables. Or, I guess it matters if you are out often at night in places where it would show up. Not to be on the other side of this, but, I don't care, mainly because even the good ones fad after a while. However, if it doesn't have a Swiss movement inside then I will pass it over, just like I'll pass over the HBB.

Well, I'm an American and I found it funny. I guess you could call me a Redneck, too, because I live in North Carolina (Southeast US). Most political humor, no matter what the subject line is or can be funny if you're open minded. There are a few humoristic cartoons that don't make the grade, like the cartoon of this Muslim character Mohammad. Good grief those morons went on a killing rampage over it. Well, Valley Girl "Duh's" to them! Got one on Bush? How about Clinton? Bring'em on, I think they're hysterical. Tim

True, and I agree with Andrew on this. Also, I think it would be unfair to ask Andrew to completely rework his web page in order to attempt to comply with your set of standards. Andrew has done a superlative job in describing what he has available. Also, if you have any questions of him he typically responds very quickly. The problem I see with this is some of the dealers only show photos, like in Photobucket, et al. What's that tell you about the watch is all you have is a photo? Nothing. If you want more info then you're forced to write the seller. And, to be honest about it that's a waste of time for the buyer, to say nothing of the seller. Not only do we end up having to write the dealer, but, sometimes we receive vague responses. If I ask for specifics I want specifics back, nothing less than that. Of course most of these emails back and forth wouldn't be necessary if the dealer listed the product, the price, and a full and accurate description of what it is you're looking at. And, again, Andrew does a superlative job of that, while other dealers on this list fall far short. My 2-cents. Tim

Classic elegance IMO. They could do something that might draw others in. The middle polished link could be flattened and have a brush finish like the rest of the watch. Might be a nice touch, but, then again, might not.

I didn't know this was available out of China yet. Saw it on the Net today. I have absolutely NO clue as to how to implant a photo here so I'll use my web sites temporary file. www.k4tjp.net/temp.html

Not on this list, but, I've been questioning the same thing for years. I suppose someone may take off on me over this, but, as far as I'm concerned it bulk verses elegance. Bigger is better, but, it's not.

The "IIII" for 4 o'clock goes back centuries when "clocks" used it. Look up ancient clocks and you'll see it. Copying it is more or less their way of honoring the past achievements of those who came before. Call it a historic use of what was a standard. BTW, I have had my Patek Nautilus for 17 years and it have never missed a beat on accuracy. Some of you can call it ugly, but, others won't agree. Of all the watches I have, I receive more compliments on that Nautilus than any other. Most people who see it have no clue as to what it is, and that's fine by me. I enjoy the simplicity of it. Some people like the huge chronograph watches and they buy up the replica chronos with the A7750 movement left and right, but, I want to see those A7750 watches running in 17 years. Actually, I'd be shocked if they ran, and WORKED, as designed. As one reputable dealer said to me not too long ago, "They're junk, stay away from them." And, I have. Not that the Patek is a chrono, it isn't, but, I'd rather deal with quality over the new rage of big and bulky.

$1000 Watch Suggestions/genuine Preferred
Lyndonville replied to crystalcranium's topic in General Discussion
My wife. I'll pay for the transportation....... -
Yeah it is, but, when I first looked at it earlier today it stated with a Swiss movement. Gone now, so the point is moot. Actually, I'm sorry I ever brought this up because it's a total waste of time.

Ship this whole posting. I questioned him about the Swiss movement and lo & behold is disappeared. Whatever...
