If we start a thread in General with enough keywords in the Subject and keep on bumping it, it'll show up in Google searches. And if we link to it from other forums, it'll appear higher in Google search. Or even better start for example 4 similar threads, one per forum, and then keep cross linking to the other threads, as Google absolutely loves anything with lots and lots of links going to it, we should be able to get whatever result we want to come very high up for the keywords we want. Something like "EBAY CONDONES THE SALE OF FAKE ROLEX WATCHES PRETENDING TO BE GENUINE, BUYERS CONNED OUT OF THOUSANDS"

Tudor Black Bay, fresh from the AD, DOA!
fraggle42 replied to icoopernicus's topic in General Discussion
This with cream and cherries on top. I would have had them wind, set and adjust the bracelet and I would have left the shop wearing it. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from an AD. -
Lovely watch. Is it the photos or is the cyclops / crystal installed a couple of degrees rotated anti-clockwise?

I'd love to see the watches this guy works on, considering all those tools round the sides and back look like wood chisels! Actually what on earth is that workbench for? I see number/letter punches at the back, got to be > 100 chisels, sharpening stone, scribes, hammers, a compass, magnifying glass, couple of work holders, a glass sphere half full of water / clear liquid, and what look like a couple of old brass oil lamps.

Thanks for dealing with him Andy. Will keep an eye out.

Total scammer. And I'd like to see the service you get thrown in for "free" with the £85 package 3! WD40 special?

A new user "horologicalconsultant" has just posted this in the shoutbox:- "Authentication Paperwork For All Brands Of Watch, Complete With Genuine Insurance Appraisal Certificate, Discreet Service. In Box Me To Find Out More! Turn Your £200 Rolex Into A £7000 Rolex In 15 Minutes!" I know the forum does not approve of trying to pass off reps as gens and ripping people off, so I assume a good kicking is in order?

I have no idea why the images in my post are upside down. Took the photos on the iPad and posted them using TapaTalk and they were the right way up in that! Stoopid thing (me or TapaTalk )

You can't just glue the edges of the planks together, you need finger joints:- The deeper the fingers are the stronger the joint is. A wood merchant should be able to make the joints for you, or you can get tools to make them yourself. Doing this would have been nice for my workbench, but cost a heck of a lot more than a cheap kitchen worktop which doesn't warp or twist at all (of course as it's only an inch thick you can't sculpt arm rests in it although I suppose you could plane the surface off and glue two or three thicknesses together) One thing I definitely wanted this time was loads of space to hold tools and store stuff within easy reach which is why the two shelves are supported by 2x4 and the sides have panelling - lots of space to mount tool holders of any size on, and they'll be within easy reach.

Exactly. I imagine that doing it properly is an art form all of its own. Thinking about which parts are exposed to wear, where the grime will collect and discolour things, where the bezel rotates and what it touches as it rotates, making the bracelet just that bit looser as a worn one would be, and how the painted parts would naturally fade when exposed to daylight for decades, remembering that some parts will be far less exposed as they're in the shadow of the rehaut or bezel, etc. Richard

Hahaha, the jack is only one behind the queen and two behind the king so can't be that bad Sadly the poor cat didn't make it... Gone a bit mouldy now... Richard

It's good but it crashes a LOT! Damn annoying when it does too as you have to navigate back to where you were. It's never lost a post though (yet)! Richard

Just got mine today. Burlwood 4 watch winder. Two winder platforms with a controller for each one, plus 6 watch holders. Curved glass window in the top lid. Looks very nice £135 from the bay. Richard

I just had a delivery of two watches from WatchInternational. Came in a plastic EMS bag and had "watch, value $20" written in the description and it had not been opened. Lately I've bought loads of watches and loads of other stuff from China and not had a problem with anything. (Touches wood!) Richard

Half way through moving all the stuff back in and sorting it out properly now. I have one HUGE pile of rubbish to take to the tip Richard

I agree really. Some of the 'aged' dials look like the lume has been exposed to monster amounts of radiation for a million years and the rest of the dial looks new, looks daft. Similarity with the cases, why sand paper the hell out of a bezel and pop the dot out? Just makes it look like you're someone who doesn't respect anything you own. I know some kids like their cars to look like they're falling to bits and rusting away (ok, they *are* falling to bits & rusting away) but WHY? I've got no problem with anyone else liking that look, but I always thing what a waste when I see one Richard

WatchesInternational WI comes up trumps again!
fraggle42 replied to fraggle42's topic in General Discussion
WI don't have a website. They just post their popular watches on the forums here http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/240-watch-international/ and on RWG 1. But their main way of working seems to be that you decide what watch you want, send them a photo and they will look and see if they can get it for you, and then get back to you letting you know if they can source it and the price(s). The cost of those websites has got to be paid somehow! -
Bought a tag heuer replica from fellow member customs problem ?
fraggle42 replied to a topic in General Discussion
If the buyer paid extra to have it sent insured then yes, the seller can claim the cost back (maybe, how do you claim money back when selling illegal goods?) Trying to sue the courier because someone there did as they were supposed to and opened the package to see what was inside to complete the required forms? Not. A. Chance. Never, ever going to happen. Accept the 50/50. If you don't I suspect you'll get nothing. There isn't any need to see it in an email, you've seen it here. And replied quoting it. Richard -

They both have closed casebacks. Movement I don't know but I'd guess 21j Chinese movements, nothing special. As to timekeeping, I've only just got them today and they're fine so far (over 6 hours!) Shipping was $35 to the UK if I remember right. The Bond watch has reasonable single AR, the PO has very good double AR. Weight is nice, a decent heft to them. Straps are lovely, clasps good. (As always the straps will improve if they're lubed), finish on the cases is good, bezels rotate nicely, 120 clicks each. Bond has very light click to the bezel, PO a lot more pronounced clock to the bezel. Bond bezel was tight for a few rotations. If you're bothered about being as close to gen as possible, you may be disappointed with them as there are obvious rep flaws, but I just like nice watches and I don't care if they're not 100% accurate. And these two are nice watches If you want a chronograph I'd spend a little bit more to get a known movement, I wouldn't be all that happy with a cheap Chinese chrono - too many moving parts to go wrong, but simple 21J movements have been around for ages (as far as I know, MD2020 will know for sure?) If they last me for a few years I'll be happy Richard -

You're not getting your hands on my preciousissss...! Get your own! (I agree though, for spare parts its probably cheaper buying one of these and breaking it down than buying the bits, and unlike the Xmas specials these wont be made out of bottom of bin rejects) Richard -

Sort it out via emails or PM. There is no point in anyone telling you what to do from this point as neither one of you believes the other, so you're not going to believe anyone else. The sellers posted something that shows it marked as a gift and has provided a plausible excuse as to why the courier opened it to complete the customs forms, with 'gift' not being acceptable. The buyer has posted something showing the goods being described as a gen tag watch, and says the package is empty on receipt. No one can prove anything as forms can be forged extremely easily and there's no video of the box being opened (or packed come to that) Chalk it up to fate and split the cost 50/50. That's what I'd try to do. Richard -
Received my latest order. Two "cheapies" from WI. They may be cheap but my god, the quality in these is silly for the price. A complete no brainer for any watches you're not quite sure about! Omega 007 50 years is $100 Omega Orange PO is $150 Onto some (admittedly poor) pics:- (these are quick snaps taken with my little camera on my lap - they look a lot better than this in real life)
