  1. I like the idea of this. So to get the idea straight in my head, you would select 1 or more parameters about the watch you want, it would then present you with a list of watches that fulfill those parameters and the name and a link to the dealer(s) that sell it? It would be good if the UI can narrow down the other fields interactively based on what you have already chosen, i.e. if it were cars, if you selected 2 doors it would automatically eliminate all car ranges that do not have a 2 door model in that range. Or from a watch point of view, if you selected chronograph it would automatically remove all watch makers (and watch maker series) that do not have chronographs anywhere in them. I would also like to see it have a selectable option (DE-selected by default) that will make it list NON-TDs. These dealers would obviously be the ones that 'n' (say 3) members have successfully purchased from in the past. Lastly, would the tool automatically crawl the dealers to build up it's database of watches? I imagine having a master table of watches that has all the gen models from all manufacturers, and then as watches are found on the TDs sites it could perform feature mapping based on keywords found, and if a certain confidence has been reached it would decide that that rep is available from that dealer. Sounds like a cool project, but not a trivial one! Gimme a shout if you need any help. (so long as it's in C++ or C# on an MS platform)
  2. Monito, that's a lovely Aerospace Japanic, yes I've seen those Emergencys, they do look like a very poor rep - the LCD panels look so dim and the size looks wrong & cheap. I've had a look at those gen movements, but I think the rest of the watch will be a big problem obtaining. Looks like it'll have to be a gen!
  3. Blimey, just *how* much bubbly and caviar was in that Diamond lounge? You lot haven't posted to this thread for 24 hours!! So, everyone who's a member but hasn't purchased a subscription yet, join now and you get that much free (virtual) booze you won't be able to type for 24 hours, never mind get up and walk!!!
  4. Very silly! Doesn't he know the way to do it is tons of torque and low RPM? Think Unimog
  5. A little Pam homage chrome case & gold skeleton movement action going on this week
  6. That's the one I've seen a picture of a very early, poor rep and it was a joke. Just wondering if anyone knows of any current generation reps. I've had a look through the RGW dealers and can't find anything.
  7. With a decent rep, that is. I've seen the absolute laughable horrors that were passed as Aerospace reps a few years ago. Googling turns up many fake sites with gen pictures of course, but do any of the TDs on RWG, RWI or RG rep the Aerospace? Going to have to be a gen otherwise, and the 2007~2009 models ain't that cheap yet. Richard
  8. Porn is freely availably on the internet, you don't need to buy it from your local newsagent using a fake ID.
  9. You're going to regret asking for photos Nightmares are made of stuff like this! I've no idea where I'm going to put all the stuff in the first two pics The existing bench is a teeny bit overcrowded But I can sometimes get some work done And get to play with this every now and then
  10. Reading the description on the website. It takes 1.5KG of gold to make the 150g (or so?) watch case!! If you buy the watch do they give you the rest of the gold in shavings? At $47000 per Kg, how much do they charge for the watch? Richard
  11. It is a lovely collection, can't wait to see the rest of it. I have to say my favourite is the Ebel Thanks my friend Richard
  12. Ok, ok, ok. The Kitchen Worktop in the Garage rebuild At the moment I've got about 15 foot of worktop to use, single depth (600mm), not great seating or lighting or mains power. So it really doesn't get used much. Right now it has this lot crowded onto it Normal soldering station. Surface mount solder rework station Signal generators (2), scope, a few meters Couple of PSUs A few RF dummy loads HF Kenwood ham radio & mic VHF ham radio & mic Desktop CNC mill & ancient PC with equally ancient CRT monitor Tools here there and everywhere Parts Junk Radio And that's before I turn round and see the large rack of tools, boxes of older tools, old kitchen cupboards full of reels of cable, car and bike oils and stuff, garage heater, absolutely loads of dead UPSs & other stuff which are slowly being cannibalised for parts as needed. Plus all the usual DIY car maintenance tools, jacks, axle stands, a new wing for a BMW E36. Honestly every time I go in there I look around in despair, find what I need and leave in a hurry NO MORE! £200 of shelving, worktops and timber for the frames. £100 of garage floor two pack paint. And probably 3 months and 2 skips for all the crap will see it turned into a nice warm decent workshop with space, and everything I've kept nicely organised! And I'll be able to unpack all those watch tools I bought and use them at last So how many others have a garage you dare not spend too long in or you'll get lost in there? Richard
  13. Do they assume in cases like this that the watches are genuine and charge you customs duties on the full gen price? I'd hate to get a demand for 20% of a gen £50,000 price (£10,000) for a $350 rep!
  14. Honestly, nicking watches of people who have just been cremated!!! Sorry, couldn't resist! I'll grab my coat and scarper now ............... ~~~ :lol2:
  15. Trust your instincts, if it looks suspicious or wrong in any way, don't use them. If you're after a particular watch I recommend sending an email or a PM to one of the trusted dealers here asking if they can get hold of that particular watch. They all source the watches from the same "factories", so if just one site is advertising a watch that the others are not, it's either a cheap pile of poo that you wouldn't want to wear, very old stock, or it's just not in stock and won't ever be back in stock. Another trick is to save an image of the watch from their advert, and then use Google image search with that image. That will either show you that it's been copied from the gen website, or may find other dealers with the same watch. Then when you've got a list of dealers who "sell" it, Google like mad on their website names and search in here, or RWI or RG for any info on them. If you find a website that claims to "review" replica watch websites, by all means have a read of it, they're often very funny, but they're nearly always made by one of the rep watch sellers giving bad reviews to everything bar their own website, which is normally a scam! By far your best choice though is to ask the TDs here if they can get a certain watch for you.
  16. Not a rep but one I like as a daily beater
  17. If we all send them offers of $5 with a note telling them they're gold diggers... It probably wouldn't make them pause for thought for a second
  18. Most of you will probably know Tag do a lot of HiFi gear as well. Tag McLaren kit. I've got one of their AV32R processors sitting in a box at home. It's extremely well made, heavy, strong, solid control and volumn [censored]s milled out of solid blocks of alloy. They do finish these control [censored]s to a gloss finish, so they look glossy and grey. Like plastic. Before I got my AV32R I was at a HiFi show in Bristol, UK, with my nephew. Tag McLaren had a large demo room there which we were looking round. I spotted the range of AV kit including the AV32R and joked to my nephew that it was that expensive they made their alloy [censored]s with that much care they looked like plastic! Oh how we laughed. And then turned around to carry on looking round. And stood very close behind us was Dr Udo Zucker. http://www.malcolmsteward.co.uk/index.php/interviews/dr-udo-zucker-of-tag-mclaren-audio/ You know how you wish a giant hole would open up and swallow you? He was very polite, and I did sort of explain my "joke" and said that if they were matt or brushed they wouldn't look so plasticy. And then I left. Rapidly...
  19. Doh! That's where I was going wrong. I was sticking my wedding tackle under a million ton rock and waiting for a few thousand years for the pressure and heat to turn my member into a diamond!
  20. I can't help but agree with Sixx. I've only been here for just under 4 months, and I'm a member of RWG, RWI and RG. It's obvious that this place is by far the smallest forum, and it's because of that it has a much closer knit, friendlier atmosphere. You see the same people and get to know them. I've been with other forums from when they took off (AV Forums) and they were also great when they started as they attract all those with passion for the hobby, then as they grow bigger the noise goes up, it gets more and more difficult to keep in touch with people you know amongst all the new members. It seems that RWI and RG have almost reached that stage, and RWG is in the perfect position of being small, full of enthusiasts who love the hobby, and the newbies who just want to take, take, take have other sites to cater for them. Rock on RWG!
  21. Still smiling every time I look at it:-
  22. Very nice watches! Wear them well when they arrive!
