  1. I am almost finished building my first Franken Sub. It took me a while to source the parts, but when I finally had them, I started building. The first challenge was to fit the crystal and retainer ring on the case. I had bought a crystal press with nylon cups, but this turned out not a good choice. When I tried to press the retaining down, I could not press it down flat, and one side was not pressed on the case, there was still a few millimeters of space. I finally could fix this, but this left some small marks on the case, near the retaining ring, and on the bottom of the midcase. But when the bezel, and caseback are, installed they will hopefully not be visible anymore. Next step was fitting the gen dial and gen hands on the Yuki, which went really smooth. And after this I wanted to fit the movement in the case. Here came another mistake, I removed the stem and plastic crown to cut the stem to the correct length without setting the it first to the 'Set time' position. When i placed the movement in the case, and put the stem back in, I could not pull it out to set the date or time, and I could turn it left or right without any resistance, its running freely. The stem went out of sliding yoke, I didn' t knew that every time you pulling out or pushing in the stem you have to do that on time changing position and press the releasing pin. With some really good guidance by Misiekped I was able to resolve this issue. This turned out to be very intersting, I had never worked on a movement before, and this was a great learning experience. Finally I placed the movement in the case, and secured it. I closed the case by adding the caseback, and now I am waiting for my new insert to arrive, so I really can finish this build, and wear it with pride. The parts used: Sean midcase (brand new, never used) TC caseback Gen bezel assembly (complete) Gen bnib crystal Gen crown and tube Gen dial and hands (perfect condition) Yuki 3135 (serviced by Misiekped) Here are some photo's:
  2. I am looking for movement case screws for my Yuki 3135. I have a Sean midcase. Will these also fit? http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6784664/7830393.htm
  3. Yesterday I received my new Leather Nato strap from Bulang & Sons, which I put on my Franken Rolex 168000 so I can keep wearing this while I am refinishing the bracelet. Its a very nice strap with a really nice distressed look.
  4. Working fine here also, but I have received the last couple of days sometimes a 404 Not Found Error
  5. Thanks guys for the help, but I think its better to send it to a professional. I don't want to 'destroy' the looks by brushing of to much. But I will going to try to refinish my IWC Slevin myself, which i bought last week on the other RWG.
  6. These marks where already on the case when I bought it. It looks awefull on the photo's, but on the wrist it doesn't look that bad. I want to make it look almost as new again, so I can start wearing it again. It never left the watchbox since I got two Franken Rollies.
  7. Really great builds, love the 1680.
  8. On my Franken 3717 are some small marks on top of the bezel on the full gen case which I want to remove. I was thinking the way to do this is by removing the crystal, and then put some really fine sandpaper on a flat surface, and slowly move the bezel on the sandpaper until the marks are gone. Is this a good option to do this, or are ther some better options to remove the marks?
  9. My gen Edox, finally some wristtime this year. Happy new year everyone.
  10. I have a gen Omega Speedmaster Reduced ref. no. 3510.50, which I have bought in Februari 1993, and I want to replace the case back, but to order the correct on at Ofrei I need the case number. Can I find the case number at the inside of the case back, or is there another way to determine the case number (without opening it) I am also looking for a new strap for the watch (lugsize 18MM), will a leather Nato strap look good or will a steel bracelet look better on the watch? Here is a photo of the watch next to my Franken 168000
  11. AJ, what a beauty. This looks awesome! Let me know if you ever get tired of it.
  12. I stumbled upon this interesting dial mod. Could be a interesting mod on a TC Sub.
  13. The movement is the only non gen IWC part of my 3717, the rest is of the watch is all gen. And even its only sitting in my watchbox, I still want it to be working perfectly.
  14. Yup, it still winds while screwing the crown back in. I rarely wear this watch, and it is currently my only ETA 7750 watch, so I can't remember anymore if its correct behaviour, or not. But to me, it seems wrong (comparing it to my Rollies).
  15. maybe this is a option: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/165877-fs-gen-rolex-93150-with-580-endlinks/ Or else go for a very nice leather Nato, I have this one: http://www.bulangandsons.com/product/bs-hand-made-leather-nato-strap-20mm-7/
  16. How can I fix this? Or who? I don't want to destroy the movement with my noob knowledge and skills.
  17. I have a ETA Swiss valjoux 7750 25 jewel movement in my 3717, which I don't wear that often. The issue I have with this movement is when I have wound the watch via the gen crown, and screw the crown back in, it seems to still winding the watch. I can hear the same sound as when I am winding the watch, and it feels the same. What could be wrong?
  18. I would go for this one, the color of the dial is just awesome. And I would leave it as is. http://www.chrono-shop.net/en/dials/1498-rare-vintage-rolex-red-submariner-date-dial-watch-1680-for-restore-or-repair-project-.html
  19. Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Sargent (I really love these boots, perfect for the winter or the jungle) http://www.prodirectselect.com/Products/Converse-Chuck-Taylor-All-Star-Sargent-Mens-Select-Footwear-Hi-Deep-TaupeBlack-50440.aspx
  20. Welcome to RWG from another Dutch member (and who is going to be this year's champion?)
  21. Indeed, a great man is gone, but hopefully his legacy stay with us forever
