  1. The 6263 case I got from Phong was pretty outstanding. I feel like I should have had him do the 'vintage' treatment on it though. He did a nice job on my 1655, and I couldn't easily duplicate it when I tried on my 6263. Food for thought.
  2. Great looking build, and very cool update. I'd really like to find a dial that I'm happy with. The others that I have are all just close enough to where I notice the small flaws. 199 out of 200 people wouldn't notice, but the one time, the ONE guy DOES notice...and it's all over. I like the comment about "doubt" being a cancer...so true.
  3. Yeah, you'll have that with any hobby. High-end Audio gear is WAY worse. I've spent $800 on a power-cable for some stupid reason. To avoid this, only 2-3 of the 15 "rep" watches I own aren't what most would consider "super-franken" so that I can always part them out if I need to. I have about $5K into my 16520. Now, I did it "right" and have a watch that would have cost $10K on a good day. If I lose interest, I can ALWAYS sell off the Dial, Hands, Movement, Bracelet, Pushers, and Crown/Tube on eBay and break even. Hell, I may make some $, as I got good deals on everything. It's all about your pain threshold.
  4. REALLY wish you could do these on Singer blanks so I could use mine with a gen movement.
  5. I ended up on eBay...you won't find a gen 1016, but you'll find a smooth bezel that fits, and you can usually mod it to be perfect. I bought 2 of JMBs cases, but I'm not sure the 1560 movement will fit in it.
  6. Are we worried about Genuine grease now? :::ducking::::
  7. I've been thinking of limiting myself to a set-number of watches. I just have too many 'projects' going on right now to make that feasible! Great looking group you have there. You should be proud of it.
  8. I've sent Andrew an email on this. I don't mind the waiting game, as long as I'm getting regular updates. This just seems like a LONG process without any idea of when the payoff will happen.
  9. Not to dig up an old thread, but since search still isn't working, this is the only one I could find that was helpful. Anyone have a good suggestion on hands for a project like this? I'd bought a set of 5513 hands, thinking they'd work, but the minute hand is way too big for the movement. (Gen 1560 butterfly movement) I'm trying to get this as close to spec as possible. Was going to get a 16203 case, but I'm not sure if the 1560 movement will fit it wothout modification. Thoughts???
  10. I went through the same thing a few months back. If you see a 1675 and 1655 next to each other, they are quite different. I ended up using Phong for the case dial and hands. Gen movement, datewheel, and service parts. I'm having a local dealer service it right now, or I'd post pics.
  11. Buy one of the rubber ball things. I've not found a screw-back that they can't open. Impossible to scratch anything too.
  12. Lol. I've looked at that page 20 times and didn't notice that!
  13. I JUST looked at a Gen 1675 that had lume VERY close to yours. Something to think about...
  14. Yup. Got the USPS email a few days before he actually shipped it, but it showed up on Thursday.
  15. I got mine this week too, and it's outstanding.
  16. So I get this random strap yesterday and I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what I ordered by mistake. I spent an hour combing through eBay and PayPal to see what I ordered. Then I catch this thread and see my name. Hey! I won something!!! Thanks man! I'll put it on the TC Sub I got yesterday and sport it while I'm out and about this week in Florida.
  17. That was seriously the first thing I saw too!
  18. I'm glad to be getting this AFTER MD2020 had it. Means ill likely not have an issue with getting it wet! ...although we're learning that I'm prone to issues!
  19. Trusty and Toro are both top-notch. It takes some getting used-to, but if you want something RIGHT NOW, this isn't the hobby for you. <--- Mr. Impatient, coming to terms.
  20. Got the gen sweeper installed. Watch stopped working. Went to bed frustrated. Woke up determined...re-positioned everything...got it working. ...but I'm 1 second fast on the fly-back. SO CLOSE!!! I'll take a breather, enjoy the watch, and spend more time on it when I can. Not going to bother today...I'll just get frustrated and break something else.
