  1. I'd say the modern Rolex Milgaus. Not my cup of tea in a watch, but in terms of replication, I'd say it deserves a mention
  2. I vaguely remember reading a few years back that Newman was awarded with a gold Daytona fairly recently (I forget what for) and I think he immediately auctioned it for charity. I may be wrong, but I believe that may be the model you've bought. As for the highlighted bit, he may not have known the ins and outs and simply believed what he'd been told, so possibly an honest mistake. Equally, he could just be a buddy-fucker that thought he could get more cash from you by mentioning Newman's name... Unless this is someone you know on a personal level, ie beers, BBQs, godfather to their kids etc, I'd take it as a lesson in being more discerning about who you consider a friend... Sales staff aren't friends to anyone, and will say anything to part the mark from their money... Other than that, awesome piece
  3. Ironically, they are actually probably the best emotionally equipped to deal with a situation like this... Chances are they have no family, property or possessions to protect, so no reason to not comply with any evac protocols, and while folks used to living in homes may find FEMA shelters spartan and crude, to a homeless person, it's a roof, a bed and access to food and medicines they wouldn't normally have, so a considerable upgrade in their conditions Fingers crossed for all those souls in Sandy's way
  4. Tasty I'm wearing my Mercedes Snowflake today for Tudor Tuesday
  5. My in laws laughed when I bought 10 10ltr water containers back in the summer and filled them. A few weeks later, there was a hosepipe ban, and they stopped laughing... They thought I was wasting my money when I bought an LED ring lamp to install above the bedroom door... When the power went out, I went about my business...
  6. A friend has been posting updates from NY on fb, and it doesn't look pretty... Full moon for a high tide, a little light HAARP music for encouragement, I guess they needed to fill the concentration camps er I mean FEMA camps somehow... Break out those survival skills and stay safe, amigos
  7. Have to admit, I don't think I'd've let him just walk away without qualifying precisely why he thought the watch was a fake, although I'd've tried not to tread on his toes too much at his own party, maybe just asked his wife or barely-legal daughters if they wanted any free tattoos I took my wife's surname (which sounds like Old Money) when we got married, and brush up nicely for swanky dos
  8. D is for Douchebag... Awesome handling of the situation, bro I hate that kind of "Say I sent you..." smug nepotism of someone like that making out like they're doing you a favor You showed him who was the real Mr Big at the party
  9. To any and all in Sandy's path: Be prepared, and stay safe, amigos
  10. Should you go for the case? Why would you want to?? The case you have is fine, and the mods done are fantastic, there's nothing to be gained from a new case PS Kudos on a stunning build
  11. A stock photo, as the camera battery's gone flat ( ) but this is what I'm wearing... Also had 'some more mods' done to my left arm yesterday by one of my best friends, and it's now covered shoulder to wrist with the outlines for my autumn storm-themed sleeve
  12. Tatted up like a motherfucker and more ink to come Thursday :tu:
  13. I don't baby any of my watches. While I might have watches for particular activities, I treat them all with equal indifference while doing so While I would not intentionally wear my DJ while heading out on a camping trip (I would choose my Heritage on webbing strap) if I was to suddenly find myself in a survival situation while wearing the DJ, I would not immediately remove the watch, wrap it in a sock, and then carry it around like a baby bird I would do whatever I needed to do, and if it took a few knocks and picked up a few dings along the way, then so be it I've mentioned before that when I was younger, I never felt like a watch was 'mine', until it had picked up its first major ding/scratch which took it away from Factory Mint. Until then, it was simply a new watch which I owned. Once it picked up said ding/scratch, it was my watch
  14. Because someone likes wearing nice watches, you think they should start their own watch brand?? I want to wear a nice watch, it doesn't have to be my own brandname Who is to say that they are fooling themself?? I'm sure everyone knows that they're wearing reps rather than gens, so unless they are really lying to themselves and have somehow fooled themselves into believing that it's a gen, no one is fooling themself at all What are you saying is 'undeserved value'? If a woman buys her husband a rep as a birthday present, are you saying the watch has no value? In terms of cash value, then of course it's not going to be 'worth' as much as its gen counterpart, but in terms of sentimental value, it would be priceless...
  15. There's a difference between gen owners, and gen snobs... The majority of owners probably would appreciate the building of a rep, as long as it didn't pose a threat to their personal self-image... On the gen watch forums, Freddy's Pan Am 6542 is considered an abomination and an attempt to create a false image, rather than appreciating the skill and craftsmanship which went into building it...
  16. +1 RG and everyone on it can go fuck themselves for all I care. Two bit piece of shit forum that it is...
  17. Or even a not-so hottie There's someone and a fetish for everyone, just a matter of personal standards requirements in a partner
  18. What a fucknut! If that's how he wants to play, re-instate the account till the watches are sent, then impose a ban for general douchebaggery
  19. I don't think I've ever seen a review of anyone having purchased that range, and rarely see any photos of them posted, which is probably why you've found nothing... If that's the one you want to buy, then buy it. I doubt you'll have anything to worry about, as it'll be made to the same standards as everything else Josh sells
