  1. Personally speaking, I would only consider that dial to go with a lug hole case (if you want to be accurate) as I feel that the 16800 needs lug holes and the older-style bracelet, where the 16610 needs solid lugs and solid end links to separate between the two models of watch. When the line blurs between that variation, that's when I think "What's the point in calling it a ..... when the details could equally be a ...." If you're not too anal about such a small detail, then just case it up however you want and enjoy it Equally, you might consider selling it on here, as 16800s are a popular build, and someone might be willing to take it off your hands for a reasonable price
  2. Hammond has the funds for his collection to be gen, and I would suspect that reps would just open him up to too much (additional) ridicule from Clarkson for him to risk owning any, but he definitely has good, and varied, taste in watches Clarkson, he just deserves to get kicked square in the nuts. I rather liked the time Trinny and Susannah went on, and Trinny was glaring at him like he was the scum of the Earth Hard to say on the Daytona issue, simply because the folks I've seen wearing them, have the funds to be able to not only afford the originals, but more importantly, treat them like the daily beaters they were originally designed as, irrespective of current market value. The watches were never meant to be collected and kept as safe-queens, but worn and used daily, and it takes a celebrity bank balance (or reps ) to be able to afford to treat a 'luxury brand' like the cheapest quartz
  3. Would that really be such a bad thing? I was talking to a jeweller a few weeks back, and he said that if it wasn't for Tudor, Rolex would have actually gone under (although he didn't specify which era/years this was refering to) which I found quite interesting At the moment, I think Rolex is aiming (with the new releases) at a very different demographic than it historically catered to...
  4. Late start is good for me, as I've had a change of watch late in the day No, I haven't buggered the GMT, it's still 100% fine, but the weather here today has been absolutely foul with really nasty heat and humidity, and the SS bracelet just wasn't feeling good By choice, I would have put on my 79090 on its Tropic-Style strap, but sadly, the strap ripped a few months back, and I haven't had the spare cash to replace it, so I've had to go for my Mercedes 9401 on NATO Hate the strap, love the dial, wish I had the corresponding hands (but when the time is right...) but such is life
  5. Yeah, that's true Still, would've been an awesome era/location to have been living in at that age
  6. Along this example, I would choose 1943 (San Francisco for the location) I'd grow up listening to some amazing music, post-WWII prosperity, do a tour in 'Nam, and then be in my prime as an adult for the late 60s early seventies... Some even more amazing music, Wolfman Jack, some cool clothes, tolerant times, enough techno-gadgets to have a fairly conteporary lifestyle, but best of all, no AIDS to stop me partying with all those gorgeous ladies
  7. Really? That sounds a tad unrealistic, given how for Casino Royale, they superglued sand/mud to one of the Planet Oceans for the one of the scenes (it was auctioned in that trashedused condition after filming and still commanded a pretty penny )
  8. :o Are you shitting me?? Pocari Sweat is the most refreshing isotonic drink on the market :tu:
  9. It's a nice watch, it's a bad replication... It's a gift from your boy, so wear it and enjoy it for what it is PS As you've not got fixed lugs, but spring bars, you could always replace the NATO with a Tropic-stye strap, or maybe a bracelet, if you wanted to dress it up a bit
  10. Excellent results, that 93150 bracelet really makes all the difference
  11. Cue Tim the Toolman Taylor grunting :drinks:
  12. All the time it releases abortions like the above listed Daytonas, Roid-Raged beefed up Subs and the "I'm hung like a hamster so need a Big Watch..." DSSD for 1000% profit, yes, it is safe to say that Rolex has lost its way, and with regards the Skydweller, even a broken clock is right twice a day [Edit to add] Lose the diamonds for some nice blue LEDs, and they might be onto something different
  13. Rolex 'lost their way' ten years ago, and it's been a downhill slide since then... What they really need to do, is stop fucking around 're-imagining' their classic designs before they lose any more credibility
  14. If you want to stick to the forum list, then I believe Narikaa is able to source noob watches, and WatchEden is probably worth emailing Personally, I'm not so specific as to source factory, and just take what I can get on CQout Joking aside, I've never been let down by what I've received, nor called out, so never had a reason to 'up my game' I think being specific is only really a requirement if you need a specific case for a modding project
  15. What with Facebook and YouTube accounts, I am not surprized that these dealers are coming under fire from the Big Dog's legal teams... All the time they were obscure, they were able to operate below the radar. Once they 'went mainstream' (with their still totally illegal and black market businesses) it was only a matter of time before they came under sanctions As before though, I'm not actually seeing any evidence of delays. King is a former Cartel dealer, so in the same league of 'untrustworthiness' as Andrew and Josh, as far as I'm concerned
  16. With all the legal action being taken against rep dealers at the moment, I'm not surprized
  17. Same GMT as usual, but just been apreciating this fine lady's show
  18. Ahh, but that is good, as it shows that supply is clearly not an issue for dealers in general, as folks're getting stuff through from multiple dealers with no issue
