I never read the books and after several years of managing to avoid the TV series I finally succumbed in January. The changing accent of Little Finger in particular makes me chuckle, along with lots of naked female bodies.
Actually, it is a good storyline and rather well shot so I've rather enjoyed it - I'm not usually one to watch serials like this.
Just looked at some of his Seamaster dials and WTF! The prices he's trying to charge for junk - mostly common junk. I'd rather gamble on the likes of eBay!
I was asked by a friend yesterday, who has just started to collect a few reps, what is the difference between a 'fake' and a 'replica' watch.
Are they one and the same? I had to question it myself and after a while the best we could come up with was that a replica watch was one that looked and performed like the gen whereas a 'fake' would clearly be something that vaguely resembled a brand name manufacturer but did not function like a gen.
This still leaves questions and a very grey area around high end copies that look close (identical?) to the gen but don't have the functionality - Daytona's with frozen seconds at 6. Or how about a Speedmaster with incorrect sub dial spacing..... We eventually gave up and just agreed to call expensive copies 'reps' and cheap ones that look like generic watches with poorly applied brand names or logos 'fakes'.
Agreed?
Send an email to some TD's with a photo of what you want. If one can get they all can (or should be able to) as they all get them from the same sources.
Don't bother with a 'Swiss movement' - most are old, dirty and cobbled together. Instead get a new Asian ETA copy - these are good to go and cheaper too.
Thank you Ken for posting this. Many of us have family that fell during that era. My family included. It is so easy to forget.
Living in Europe I have visited many cemeteries in France and am always filled with horror and awe at the number of headstones there. Lest we forget.
In light of recent events; the limiting of PayPal gift option would have saved a few members if they'd followed the rules. Sound harsh I know, but the rules are their for the members protection and no other reason. If a seller does not qualify for requesting PayPal gift (VIP + 2 sales) please don't send the money that way - if the seller is prepared to break the rules they are more likely to scam you than a seller whom abides by them.
Please don't post up unverified sites - there are many scam sites out there that will take your money and either send you crap or nothing at all. We have a section for trusted dealers here and if you want a rep of a certain watch, just send them an email with a photo and, if it's rep's, they'll find it. And welcome BTW.
