I have a 'new' Seamaster chrono bought from a boutique about 4 years ago. I have probably worn it 6 times! Whilst I almost live in its rep siblings. To me, I want to keep the gen nice and fresh but reps are just a bit of fun - even my Ssteel built frankens get plenty of use and are never babied.

Wow, that is nice. I would have thought it would have been Quartz but even better; a mechanical movement. I hope your mum appreciates it.

Look at the trusted dealer section and contact a few of them. If it's available they will know.

A PO isn't THAT expensive second hand. My advise would be to keep your franken and buy a gen second hand, wear it for a while, then wear your rep. After a few weeks sell one. My guess is that once the novelty of one being gen goes away, it's the gen that would be sold........ or maybe not!

+1 for what Legend said. Additionally, for new sellers only send money PayPal goods and services - NEVER send friends and family/gift. If a seller insists on this then pay the fees yourself or avoid the sale and let a mod know that this is happening. When I first joined the forum I was victim of a scam but recovered all my money as I'd not sent it gift. Be warned.

A vintage watch has invariably been opened and worked on at some stage. What has been done to it is often questionable. This maybe a genuine Omega Speedmaster but it doesn't mean it's 100% original. Have you asked the question to the seller?

For clarity this is RWG.cc! You may post QC photos. However please don't just post them and ask "is this version any good" etc. As Mike has already stated, do your homework first about which model/factory/version you're buying. TD's will not run. Backwards and forwards rejecting/changing a watch because you didn't know which version you want. Remember, reps have flaws and if the version you're buying has a known flaw (e.g. wrong date font) you're not going to be able to reject it on that premises. Personally, I'd post them in the relevant section, i.e. Rolex, AP, Tag etc asking if there is anything specific that is wrong and wait for a reply.
