  1. The lume looks nice, that is not std Yuki is it?
  2. At my last request a few weeks ago the cartel 1655 is out of stock (Andrew) with no foreseeable date when it will come back.. another setback for a 6542 build.
  3. Yeah, "broken" what a poor rep, I feel sorry even for those that bought it from Yuki :-)
  4. Wow that is beautiful. Great shots too... I have a rep that I bought recently from someone who bought it from denimhead and I aim to mod it... where can the "PolexPete DWO" be found? Also where was the straight second hand from? I also think the folded band looks nice on this, not often seen... is a rep?
  5. yeah amazing isn't it. Unless that's his mum
  6. The answer to all of those questions is yes. The way to remove a link is to lift up a fold with a scalpel blade, then push a case opened (or flat blade) under the metal and push upwards to about 30-40 degrees and slip out the link. To put it back get a small piece of wood or something else flat and push it back down again. In most cases the join is pretty good but it is possible to close the gap slightly by putting the link on its end and tapping with a nylon watchmakers hammer.
  7. That's an incorrect hand stack right? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251695404003?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  8. Wahoo :clap2: good work !
  9. Well I have done it many times and have not had one snap on me. BUT I guess if one has, then another one could. However, you won't be in a worse position. When opening up the link (the 2nd one from the end), slip a razor blade in between the folded ends and the lift slightly. Once slightly lifted use a thicker blade to push the "flap" up. Bear in mind this does NOT need to be opened all up to 90 degrees, a bit less than 45 degrees will do it (or there abouts). Basically don't bend the fold up further than you have to. Ease out the bar of the broken link, and then ease in the bar of the next good link. Then get something flat and wide to push the link fold back down again.
  10. Can't you just take the broken link out? It's the third from the end link right? It appears you would have enough length (move the clasp pin further out). The issue is that the there will be a noticeable step as the 2nd to 4th links will be quite different sizes next to each other. however it won't notice that much and should get you out of trouble until you can find another 3rd link second hand. No point repairing it for 200$ as you can pick these up for around 250.
  11. This is my "budget" Silix build. Specs: Case: Silix reshaped, drilled and tapped Bezel: Silix reshaped Bezel insert: Tiger Concept aged Crown: Athaya 8mm Dial: HR relumed and textured Hands: Minute and Hour (HR) aged and polished, Second (OnlinestoreHK) painted Movement: 2824 clone TY2130 (Cousins UK) Plexi: Sternkreuz 30.6 HW Bracelet: Gen 7206 Rivet All work by me. Maybe a contender in the "budget" category :-)
  12. LOL I'm glad you two seem to know each other ;-)
  13. Thanks, it's not bad, what is the price from Reg?
  14. Thank god I'm not going mad... I thought so, for some reason when reading this thread I thought it was being said that the 7750 would accept a better dial. :-)
  15. Such a shame, your new parts probably wiped a few thousand dollars off of the value.
  16. Despite the fact that it looked a million times better WITHOUT the refurb parts, well done for getting a bargain! Who did the refurb? Your watch maker or Rolex?
  17. I think it depends on how much you paid for it... :-) If you paid gen prices then ouch.
  18. Dumb question that I should know the answer to, but are we saying the 7750 will take a gen spec dial? i.e. sub dial spacing the same?
  19. Thanks guuys. I am looking at a case set, which I believe originally came from NDT and it has 6542 Brevet+ (In that order) with an underlined gen crown and a 1. 1958 case back stamp. The case is good but I am trying to build a near as damn it build with gen movement etc. so I want authentic. On the basis that the 6542 started in 54 then is the Brevet + plus out of place on a "58" then? From what has been said possibly so?
