  1. So this is how it works? A dealer can promise one thing and never deliver, and I'm supposed to keep my mouth shut and not "bother him" about it?

Last 3 emails were completely ignored, payment was sent 3 weeks ago, are you guys telling me this is fine?

    :evil2:

Nobody said it is "fine".   What I said is that it is what it is.   YES, they have your money.   Yes they "should" respond to your emails.   Reality, however, is different that expectations.   Dealing with these guys requires a different mindset.   You can work yourself up into a frenzy, or let it play out until you eventually get the watch.   It's up to you of course.......

  2. You can drive yourself nuts trying to get a refund, or chill out and wait for the stock to replenish.   We're dealing with China and cannot expect to be treated as if this were a local supplier.....   No matter how great the TD's reviews are.    Anything other than a perfect transaction seems to turn into a frustrating ordeal with most all of them..........

  3. While I'm not really a "veteran", I've bought some 20 watches since discovering this hobby back around the first of this year.    I jumped in after a little research and bought a half dozen watches in the first 2 months.   I was so concerned about receiving junk, that I went for the highest price swiss version of whatever watch I was buying.    Probably a bit of a waste of money.   Got a blue dial, half gold sub from Andrew and paid $500.   Probably ended up wearing it 6 or 7 times when I finally came to the conclusion that subs are just too small for my personal taste.   Sold it recently for $300.   :-(

My most recent purchases have been Asian movements @ 28800, and I have been just as impressed with those as with my older swiss pieces.   The savings has been substantial.

Find the type/size/style of watch you like, then research the heck out of it here and ask questions.   If you post questions, but have obviously done your homework up front, members will gladly share the amazing amount of knowledge they have with you.    Remember, if you make a mistake and end up with something you don't like, there's plenty of opportunity for a M2M sale to recoup a good portion of your money.

Lastly, I would suggest you pick a TD or two to deal with and stick with them.   Once you build a history and rapport with a TD, you will be much more likely to receive special service when something goes wrong.    Personally, I have stuck with Andrew and Toro.   They have both treated me very well and I have no desire to go elsewhere at this point.

And lastly......  Become a VIP member if you aren't already.

  4. This forum is not only for experienced members.   The only thing the "elder statesmen" ask is that newbies read and learn as much as possible, before jumping in and asking for help.   A lot of questions can be answered by researching on your own.

That being said, I think your question is completely appropriate.   You're asking for a comparison of two specific offerings and there's no way for you to find the answer on your own.   Hopefully, someone with experience will offer up some information.   I would, IF I knew the answer!

I can tell you the TT is a trusted dealer here.   I have bought some 10-12 watches from Andrew and have yet to be disappointed......    As a newbie to this hobby, I think you'll be totally impressed with whatever selection you make from TT.

Many members in here take the next step and begin to modify or even built their own "franken" watches, with some absolutely amazing results!    I just don't have the skill or the patience to even attempt it.   ;-)

So, don't be put off by the first response.   Read up, learn, ask questions.........    Many will help whenever possible.

  5. Sounds like a "Who makes the best sub?" question.

No it's not!   The guy obviously did some research and is wondering about two specific pieces.   Why is that a problem?   Many of us are here to learn from those who are much more knowledgeable that we are, so I think this is a reasonable request and FAR from a "who makes the best sub" question.......
