  1. thanks. i'm not sure if you're looking for a rep or gen, but either way ... go for it. it's an instant classic! thanks frank! lol. the dssd is the ultimate version with correct bezel that lani reviewed back in the day. this is the swiss version. regarding mods, really not too much i guess. the zigmeister serviced the movement and lumed everything. he also gave the bezel pearl a bubble shape and installed a chief double ar'd crystal. the top layer was later removed because of a couple minor scratches and it actually looks more gen this way because as we know ... rolex doesn't ar their crystals. regardng the watch case, it's a rainer watch box from germany. very well made and perfect for larger watches. all the best pete! i totally agree, and thank you for the kind words! thanks andy! you're very welcome max. thinning the herd is tough, but it makes sense to me. best of luck!
  2. this post is becoming a yearly ritual for me as i've posted the same topic in december of 2008 and 2009. to be honest, there's not much change in my collection from last year besides the handful of gens and reps that have come and gone. lol. as some of you may or may not know, i like to keep my collection to around six watches that i wear regularly. i like the notion that if they're not being worn, then someone else might as well be enjoying them. i do have a couple of others that aren't pictured here, but from last years post i have four of the same watches. keepers for now i guess ... onto the pictures! my current collection ... rep audemars piguet rubberclad, fully modded by the zigmeister ... rep breitling skyland blacksteel on oem rubber, fully modded by the zigmeister ... rep iwc big pilot 5004 on oem gator, fully modded by the zigmeister ... gen omega planet ocean ... gen panerai 312 ... rep rolex deepsea sea-dweller, fully modded by the zigmeister ... i always enjoy seeing what everyone else has and hope you enjoyed seeing my final collection for 2010. till next december ... thank you rwg!
  3. cool. i think you are the first member to post pictures of the rep. we'd all love to see more if you have a chance ... maybe you could start a new thread? either way, thanks for posting and congratulations on your new watch!
  4. you snooze you lose. and guess what, i was snoozing. oh well ... thanks for being a good sport!
  5. i recently had an outer layer removed on my cheif ar'd dssd because of scratches. i wonder if there could have been a flaw in the process this time? the reason i say that is because this is the first time i've noticed any scratches on my handful of cheif ar'd crystals. it was a no brainer to have it removed, first because of the (i'll be it minimal) scratches, but secondly because the double ar actually made the dssd look too good! lol. here's a shot of it with double ar ...
  6. cool documentary, cool characters and cool watches. i enjoyed that ... thanks for sharing!
  7. it's a beast. i would try one on at a local ad first if you can. although i really liked mine (see below), i ended up selling it because it was simply too big. good luck!
  8. congratulations ... nothing beats the real thing!
  9. lol. the truth is, i don't even have a nano. hopefully santa is listening!
  10. i finally got around to backing this record breaking kickstarter project. here's some q & a on the straps ... Q: Is the watch strap replaceable? A: Yes. Q: What is the width of the armband? (I'm thinking of trying to throw a leather band on one of the LunaTik's for a more business-y look to wear to the office) A: The strap width is 28mm. Q: Does the strap size accommodate large wrists? A: The straps comfortably accommodate 5" to 8.5" wrists with a couple notches to spare. Q: How do I order a replacement strap? A: Once we have our operations set up with a fulfillment partner we will arrange a way for customers to order replacement straps.
  11. this leads me to something i've been thinking about for a while. is it possible to tag a member in a post? it would be cool to be able to tag members when you mention their names etc. in a post. and when you tag someone, rwg would automatically send them a message/e-mail stating that they've been tagged in a post by so and so. i'm sure this is more difficult than it sounds, but it you can make an o.t. tag ... why not a member tag? i'd be interested to hear the answer one way or another. all the best and thanks for the new feature!
  12. simple. everyday wrist checks are too much. fyi, it's a very cold 70°f in the bahamas today.
  13. it may be plastic wrap, but that would be my only concern as well. looks sweet other than that!
  14. lol. sorry for the delayed response pete. my wife and i have been busy getting ready for a trip. we're headed to hong kong on wednesday for two weeks. upon my return, i promise to get you the datewheel pictures you need. and who knows, maybe we'll have a v2 by then? all the best and thanks again to everyone else for all the kind words. the 312 hasn't left my wrist since it's arrival!
  15. wow. that looks awesome! i'd love to see a picture or two with the doors open ... i can't quite figure it out. i'm assuming they slide, but i don't see any tracks and there seems to be tables in the way. huh?
  16. congratulations guys ... more good help on board!
  17. congratulations. this one has always intrigued me because of the shear size. it looks great on your wrist ... we're it well buddy!
  18. very nice ... congratulations! by the way, it's not the rep straps that are short. panerai straps in general are short. i always have to remove the second keeper as it serves no purpose on my wrist. thanks for the post and beautiful pictures!
  19. i love my rainer watch box. and they come in many sizes!
