  1. lol yes it would be I think used parts might come down in price if this happened... Then you wouldnt have to look on ebay for parts either.. you could just call up your local AD and order up a new 7206 Rivet bracelet and end links or a 1665 service dial and hands... that wouldnt be too bad either.
  2. I guess if they can laser engrave serial numbers on diamonds, then they can engrave MICRO numbers on watch parts. It seems like rolex is doing everything they can to stop the flow of parts out of their factories. They are just forcing companies to make aftermarket parts. Why doesnt Rolex start producing vintage replacement parts at realistic prices? They could refuse serviceing of vintage watches as they mostly do now, but still supply collectors with parts they need, and thus keeping people away from aftermarket/replica suppliers. I would just be more $$$ in the Rolex bank account. Let the AD's sell vintage replacement parts over the counter! dizz
  3. Ive also been trying this... I almost gave up and just bought a ladies rep but I cant bring myself to do it. I want to build something with gen parts but so far havent been able to find much information. I wanted to do an all stainless steel with gen dial and bracelet. The case can be rep.. I dont know... let me know what you guys come up with because I need help too dizz
  4. I think the last big logo on ebay went for $9500... Theres another one on there now thats ending soon... and yeah those collectors are NUTS, but if you have the dough then why not?? lol
  5. WOW thats a nice dial... stock WM9? I didnt see you as a modern Rolex wearing kinda guy after seeing all your vintage builds, but this is a beautiful watch and its also on my list of projects. I see you went with the 18kt tube.. VERY nice touch, but watch out for those soft threads!
  6. Have you tried puretime? HIs website says its in stock so it might be worth asking Puretime Watch - Super Sea-dweller
  7. You can send that old clunker DRSD to me if you want. I have an OLD Rolex pressure tester from the 70's that does 75ATM... i think thats about 2500 feet? 20ATM was 660 feet and 30ATM was 1000ft if memory serves me correct. it looks something like this. I got it from an old Rolex AD. I think mine has the guage on the lower part and the top is domed instead of flat like this one. Its in storage right now.
  8. Nice "big logo" bracelet Those bracelets alone are going for $8000+ on ebay right now. You really have something special there my friend. I would also recommend Bob Ridley. If I had a watch like that I would send it to him for sure. He is the watchmaker trusted with the best of the best vintage Rolex watches. dizz
  9. This is basicly my plan also... MBW case, clarks crystal, PT movement and silver datewheel, Yuki dial, gen crown, PT insert and probably a gen bracelet. Thats going to render you a pretty good watch for about $1200 or so in parts. I might even use the PT great white dial. I'll see how it looks when i get it. I just need to finish this datejust im building and then its over to the 1665 project
  10. agreed When the insert is totally loose in the bezel, i do small drops all the way around, place the insert then use a small weight on it for about 10 min until partly dry. If the insert snaps in, then i use 4-6 small drops around the circumference just as added protection. Like everyone said, you dont want to lose that expensive insert. Ive never had an insert snap in as hard as it does on a gen. Gen inserts are sometimes tough to install on gen watches. They usually dont fall out.
  11. You should have it any time now.. Does spin build v23 or Mystery movement daytonas? Or just the 7750 daytonas? dizz
  12. yep ask her to source the one you paid for. Its much better. The second one looks cheap to me. if you paid for swiss ETA then make sure thats what you are actually getting also. Not to say Mary is dishonest, but sometimes the factories just send the dealers whatever they feel like sending so the dealers dont always know exactly what they are getting.
  13. didnt TripleHD just sell an ETA super sea dweller for next to nothing because it sat in the sales forum forever... It was CHEAP from what i recall.. Ive got an ETA SSD but not sure If i want to part with it... Im in the process of turning it into a triple-6 with lug holes and a 16660 matt dial like polex pete did... then maybe it will be for sale but it wont be cheap.
  14. HA HA No soup for you!!! Come back one year!!! lol Awesome
  15. So far i have NOT found a half decent rep 93150 bracelet. I have to build my own from different parts. If someone knows where to get one, I would love to know. Recently I am into the riveted bracelets and folded bracelets... get a folded from Mary and toss on a modified noobmariner clasp... numbers arnt correct but it could happen in the real world. Watchmakers mix and match parts all the time. dizz
  16. What do you want to spend??? Gen a gen dial off ebay or a refinished dial. If you get an old gen dial thats trashed, you can get it properly refinished for a couple hundred bucks.. or email some of the dealers and get a rep dial for $25-50
  17. The PT watches are fun to play with buy you will never build a "super rep" from any watch you buy for $200. If you want an ACCURATE super rep you need a $1000 case, $1500 movement, $1000+ dial, $750 bracelet... I think you get the idea. The PT watches are VERY VERY good for the money you are spending, but you have to understand.. "you get what you pay for" For example, my MBW1680... MBW watch $400 Gen sub dial $800+ Gen bracelet $750 ETA MOvement hands etc etc $200 Bezel insert $200 Gen plexi $175 Crown and tube $150 Adds up fast (theres like $2500+ in parts there) and its still an ETA powered watch.. add another $1500 for a gen 1570cal movement.. At that point you may as well buy a gen Rolex and have a gen case and not a replica case for about the same money. Have fun building your watch and dont sweat the details. When you collect $3000 in parts to start your project, then you can worry about "details" Have fun! dizz
  18. are you winding the watch before wearing it or just putting it on and expecting it to start and keep going?? You need to give it a couple turns to get it going sometimes.. when i have a watch thats completely dead, I give it 5 or 10 turns to get it going... a full winding is 30-40 turns aprox. dizz
  19. uhm theres a couple DIFFERENT watches shown there so which one are you actually going to get? ... compare the crown guards on pics # 1 and pic #5... completely different.. even the caseback sticker # is different.. The first one is better. Those crown guards on the second one are just weird looking. dizz
  20. Ive been using modified Noobmariner clasps lately... file down the cornet, smooth out the fliplock and then all the usual vintagizing. Ive even bought a couple ETA noobmariners and robbed them of their bracelets and movements for other projects. Where would you suggest ordering a Noob bracelet from?? Any prefered dealer for ordering just the bracelet? Dizz
  21. i hate to bring this one back from the dead Nanuq but did you ever get this bracelet or get pics???? Dizz
  22. Interesting... Never thought of using old spring bars cut down for spacers.. good tip! I went through all my old junk clasps and pulled out all the pins and clasps so hopefully I have enough to get me by for a little while....
  23. What about the DW with the v23 mystery movement case? Can a V72 fit in that case? Is the v72 larger than a v23? stem position different? dizz
  24. I remember seeing that watch years ago, but couldnt remember whos it was. I just put a 7206 on my DRSD and i love it!!! As for the 93150... I guess the MBW bracelet isnt too bad as long as you get the newer one and not that old solid link one thats stamped 16520 or something screwy on it. The new PT vintage bracelet is pretty flimsy and the clasps vary from one watch to another. Ive got 3 of them and all 3 have different stamped clasps so they must be sourcing them from all over. What I would do is take the MBW links and put them on a modified Noobmariner clasp.. .smooth out the fliplock so its flat all the way across etc etc dizz
  25. What about a DW with the mystery movement?? obviously you can put in a V23 as the mystery movement is sort of a V23 copy, but can you put in a V72 into the mystery movement case?? I would almost want to assume the v23 and v72 are about the same size and shape? My thinking is that stem position may be higher or lower on one or the other?? I like my DW so far and when the movement dies I will swap in a V23... accurate enough for me.. Im not going to try to pass it off as a gen when i sell it and i have no use for the chronographs other than the fact that its a cool watch to look at. I dont really see the need to go to a V72 but it would be interesting as an option if a movmt became available. dizz
