  1. The dial in this was pretty big I think. Similar to most of the vintage rep cases. It was much bigger than gen size. Prob 28mm if i had to guess. To vintagize this dial I lightly scraped the markers with a small screwdriver to take the gloss off them. Then i use a light "wash" of water color paint to stain the markers to give them a bit of age. I dont bake my dials because it turn the printing brown and ugly. It works well if you are trying to make a guilt dial though... A couple coats of matt clear spray and the dial was good to go. Just scraping the gloss of the markers and shooting it with matt clear would make a world of difference. The "wash" just added to the age.
  2. 1570 from Datejust will not fit a submariner case. The calandar ring is the wrong shape and good luck finding the right one to convert it. You need the 1570 movement out of the "Date" model that has the correct calandar ring. If i were you I would sell the movement you have and put that money into a good case (MBW or better), gen dial, gen bracelet and a good new ETA movement. You cant see the movement anyways and a good strong ETA will keep just as good time, and you'll save $1000 right off the top. dizz

    1675

I like what you did with the sides of the case. My 1655 case is much too "fat" and needs to be worked like yours.
  4. I used a Josh 7836 and installed a gen 93150 clasp. I know its the wrong clasp but its close enough for me. Its pretty much perfect after some stretching and vintagizing. I've had it on my MBW1680 for about 6 months now. Its very comfortable.

    1675 built

Gilt dial version (gold color text on dial) would have gold hands
  6. You can get the spacer rings on ebay for about $2. I bought a bunch of them and they work just fine. You just need to file a tiny bit of material off where the movement retention tabs go. Very easy and no need for expensive spacers. I have an extra gen 16030 silver dial if you need one.
  7. +1 There are many many threads regarding this on VRF and it seems that the safe-queens are the ones with the darkest patina, while the daily beaters (that are always exposed to sunlight and UV) have the lighter or white markers.

Not true... I got my 1675 Pepsi bezel set from Yuki for $150. You roll the dice when you order from WSO... you never know what you are going to actually receive. Ive placed 5 or 6 orders over the past few yrs from WSO and only ONE of the orders was correct. Hes useless when it comes to customer service as far as I'm concerned. You can get your asian hands and GMT movements from Raffles-time on ebay. My link
  9. I would never send such a basic watch to RSC. $900 is rediculous.
  10. The Yuki 5510 I think it is, has a better rehaut. The 6538 looks really wokky in the pics.
  11. So I need a different tap if im going to change to a 702 tube? The threads look completely different.
  12. A good gen caseback is going to cost you as much as a gen dial or more. As far as i know, the MBW factory has been temp closed since last fall. I dont think its going to be very easy to find any new MBW parts
  13. Grease always seems to work its way to places that it shouldnt be.... I wouldnt worry about that gasket unless you are planning to actually dive with your watch. I put them into mine because they are cheap, but I dont think its necessary for everyday use.
  14. How do you even see that stain with the naked eye? I wouldnt even worry about it and i would leave it as is, but thats up to you.
  15. I agree. Most of WSO990's stuff is absolute JUNK, as is his customer service after he sends you the wrong parts...
  16. They havent made them in a while. You'll never find a new one. They pop up occasionally in the sales section here.
  17. When was the last time they produced a 16610? I thought that was discontinued a while ago? Maybe there is stock laying around from years ago.. who knows. There are replicas of the MBW's so watch out for those. The cartel dealers had them a few years back. That was sort of the beginning of this newest vintage Rolex replica craze.
  18. Ive talked to DW. There is no V72 clone. Only the new V23 clone. As far as I know, DW uses a language translator for his emails so be sure to keep questions short and simple. Use pics when you can to show what you want. Dizz
  19. Very cool. All the dial printers I have seen are also conical like that. But, wheres the underline?? lol
  20. I have a gen Tudor signed 24-703 if that will work. Its got the Tudor shield on it.
  21. If your talking about the 16610 Noobmariner then the bezel is almost impossible to remove. I'm not even sure if its got a gen like retention system. Its fairly accurate once you replace the insert with a better one. If you are talking about the bezel insert, then there are a wide range of ones available. You can find gen inserts for around $100 or so, and you can find good aftermarket ones for $30+ usually.
  22. Heres my 6538 from Josh... slightly modded of course. Yuki 7206 bracelet. Total cost is about $350 plus labour to age everything accordingly. Easy build, but the ETA copy movement died in 2 weeks so now its sitting in my parts drawer waiting on a new movement.
  23. Looks good!!! Try a differrent 24hr hand. Most of them have a larger circle of metal around the canon pin to cover the bigger hole in the dial.
  24. Just an update... Yuki will sell the 1675 bezel set. Hopefully its good quality but I think it will be as good or better than the one from WO990. Its the same price as them also, so I just ordered one from Yuki!!!! The only other person that tried to help me out was Gary from clarkes. He has the bezel, insert and spring as a package, but no retention rings... Thanks again Yuki! I cant wait to get this GMT finished. dizz
