  1. Awesome!! I also have a 1655 turning into a 1675... just ordered the 1675 bezel set and retainer from Yuki. I tried to get the 1655 bezel off and its on there TIGHT. There is absolutely ZERO gap to get a razor blade into... I tired the usual methods and nothing. I've got a new t-116 coming so Im going to use my crystal press to press out the factory crystal. Hopefully that works. If not then im going to TORCH the plexi and melt it and then the bezel will fall right off...
  2. Very nice!! I love working with the gen cases. You always get a nice franken in the end when you start with good parts!
  3. Its probably shitty just like his customer service. I wish there was another place to buy all these parts with a big selection so we wouldnt have to support this clown. Sorry for going off topic, but I had to throw that in.
  4. Now you have me wondering if they are the same length or not. They are infact completely different clasps in the way they function. The guidelock on the DSSD is much more complex than the Submariner. For me, the DSSD clasp look too long. I cant remember what the clasp on the new SubC looks like in comparison.
  5. dont the new versions have those little stubby crown guards?
  6. Yeah you just need to replace the connecting link from the bracelet to the endlink. Its not easy but it can be done with the right parts.
  7. The cartel and PT cases dont compare the the MBW. I have both, and have modded a lot of them. The fit and finish is a big difference. The MBW is much nicer to start with and no crystal retention ring problems or caseback thread problems. I agree that after I threw away all the parts off my PT1680, I was left with the case and case back, movement, bracelet links and endlinks and that was it. Its a good watch for $198 if you want something cheap to mod and play around with, but the MBW is a better starting point if you are adding gen parts and dials etc.
  8. Yeah very cool dial work there bro!
  9. If you want a vintage that you can wear around gen rolex people then you are gunna be out of luck unless you want to spend a grand or so. The new Exp2 1655 from Josh is OK, but its still not going to fool anyone who knows vintage Rolex. The only out of the box DRSD you could wear and maybe get away with would be a MBW but i would go for the much more comon white dial and not the double red. Double reds are $25,000 in the real world and pretty freekin rare. Keep your eyes on the sales section for a nice modded 1665. You can pick one up for about $400 and up depending on parts and quality etc.

    1665 Project

Uhm, you can build a couple of them for under $1000...
  11. If this euromariner bezel is based on the MBW or WM9, can be removed. If its a Noobmariner, then yes i agree. DO NOT try to remove the bezel. You WILL bend it.
  12. What I do is use one of those spring loaded center punch markers and make a nice little dent where you want the hole. This makes a perfect starting point to keep your drill from wandering. Just dont screw this part up. You only get ONE shot to get the dimple in the right spot. Then use a drill press and low speed to make the hole. Its not that difficult if you have the right tools and take your time. As for "drilling virgins", I'll leave that up to Justin! lol

    1665

Last week I installed an MBW 1680 red submariner dial into a Puretime 1680 case and it fit just fine. Its close but it will mount up. Its definitely doesn't slide freely through the rehaut so Im not sure what case you were using... If the newest cases from the Cartel allow the dial to go through the rehaut then they are even more incorrect than I thought... more than just having the stubby liuttle crown guards.

    1665

I've done a number of MBW 5513, 1680 and 1665 builds, using gen, aftermarket and MBW dials as well as Rolex cal. 1570 movements. I currently own an old MBW5513 case with a gen 1680 white tritium dial installed. You need to sand about 0.5mm off the diameter of the dial to get it to fit in the MBW case, but it fits no problem with a little bit of work. A gen unsanded 1680 dial just barely fits into the Puretime case but its got just barely enough to catch and stay in place. The sanded gen 1680 dial will not work in the PT case because it falls through the rehaut and you cannot mount it without making some special spacer bracket. The MBW cases are much better than the cheapo new vintage cases. Its like comparing a Honda civic to a Mercedes E55. Sure they are both passenger cars and will get you from A to B, but they are just not the same in terms of quality and fit and finish. I guess you would have to had worked on both and done extensive mods to really understand. They both "look" the same when on the wrist, so I guess it just depends on the quality you are looking for.
  15. I dont think the Noobfactory watch had gold wrapped links. The WM9 did have them in the beginning. Actual gold wrapped bracelets and watches are much more expensive. I would be willing to bet that almost all are just gold plated or heavy gold plated.
  16. Glue!! lol doesnt matter, you can glue it in with the bezel mounted or not.

    1665

If we could only get MBW parts.... Hopefully they start up production again soon! I just finished putting together a modified PT1680 case with NDtrading dial and gen bracelet etc... these new cheap 1680 and 1665 cases just arnt the same quality. The MBW cases are so nice to work with and modify. I was going to install a gen 1680 dial into this case but I'm going to save it for a MBW case when i find one. dizz
  18. good post! Hard to believe that ETA / Valjoux wont release v72 parts to Rolex. Thats kind of silly. Afterall Rolex is a faily large and well known company.
  19. Those pins with tube are a life saver when it comes to fixing clasps. I just bought a bunch of 20mm ones. You can easily cut and sand them to the exact length you need.
  20. The MBW datewindows are a good size, but I think they are still smaller than gen. The PT window is REALLY narrow. You need to open it up top to bottom and also on the left hand side closer to the center of the dial.
  21. I doubt they are geniune for $58 or best offer. Most all crystals bought online as genuine, are not.
  22. Theres a couple way to do it, none of them easy. You'll need all the correct tools, bits, drill press etc.
  23. Is the NDT dial going to fit the rep case?? most times gen size dials are too small for rep cases.
  24. weird. At least hes sending you another case set. Did his customs form say "electronic component" on it? That might be the problem. If they x-ray the package and see its a watch case and clearly NOT whats on the customs declaration, then someone at customs probably opened it and put that in there to screw with you. I would never send a watch case and put on the declaration that its something completely different. You would be asking for get it seized or stolen. I guess thats what the dealers do though. The last watch I ordered came in a small box marked "Birthday card" with zero $ value. I guarantee if they x-rayed it, i would have lost it. At least if you put "fashon watch" or "novelty watch" and if they x-ray it, at least they will see a watch inside there and prob not bother to open it. I guess things are different over there in China. Im sure they use whatever method gives the best success.
