  1. I agree with chad. The 7750 is an ok movement, but as I knew that misalignment of day and date would bother me, I will pass on the Costeau. There are so many good chronograph-replicas that I feel it is enough at the moment The way to go is to make more top replicas with the almost bombproof ETA or ETA copy movements, as the Steelfish and Planet Ocean! No trouble with date alignment on those! It would be easier for the sellers as well... I wish for a top replica of the regular Aquatimer.
  2. Thanks Folks! It has been a very nice National holiday in Norway. Even Ralph, our cat, enjoyed it and was dressed up! For me, it was a hard choice to pick a watch for the day. I wanted to use the BCE on the leather strap, but it was way too bulky to go with a suit. So, I ended up with the Air-King. Cool, subtle Rolex..
  3. Interesting comparison! Pictures like these can really make you go mad about details!
  4. I bought two varity boxes of Spring bars from Narikaa when he had them a year ago, 1.7 and 1.78mm. They have been very useful! He seems to carry some tools and parts once in a while.
  5. Lots of good choices out there. The Tag Link or Carrera Chrono is accurate, sporty and belivable even for normal people. I had the SMP Chrono, but sold it, as it sadly never grew on me (too thick compared with the regular SMP) As already stated by Deltatahoe, the white dial BCE looks gorgeous on the brown croco strap.. It is my favorite chrono at the moment! The regular Navitimer or the previous good version of the Moonwatch are also very nice...
  6. Hi TeeJay, I dont know if you have read THIS thread? It tells much about all of the X-33 rep. It does not have mission-time alarm as on the genuine, and rather usual alarm-sound. Cool blue backlight, though. Good luck!
  7. I second that! A quality replica of the regular Aquatimer would be a sucess!
  8. I had the replica X-33 from Silix. A nice watch with some quirks as mentioned. ( I never really figured out the alarm..) The replica might be worth a shot just to see if you like the style. Actually. my GF found it way cooler than my more expensive mechanical super-reps.. I traded it on, but are still considering the gen.. Either the X-33 or a Breitling B-1. If you get the replica X-33, be aware that there are two batteries in the back. One is hidden under the mainplate. Tintin and Haddock are amazed by the many functions of the X-33
  9. Yep.. The Daytona has been in the shadow of the new super-reps, and its reputation is haunted by the supposedly unreliable movement... It could be interesting to read a review of it.
  10. I am in fact a fan of the X-33, but not on that strap.. It looks too cheap. The stock Ti-bracelet is not as well made as on other Omegas, but it fits well with the style of the watch. Other nice choices for smart/casual is the regular Tag Heuers.. Link or Link GMT, they would be considered a bit cheaper than the Seamaster Pro.
  11. A quiet day for me. Still enjoying the new croco-leather strap for my Evo. It gives the watch a whole new character. The excellent detailing on the case and dial stands out much better, when they dont have to visually compete with a shining bracelet. This is true Breitling style!
  12. Sorry to hear about your problems, the SMP chrono is a very nice rep!.. I dont know if a genuine crown and tube would fit, but as the movements are about the same it could be worth a try. Check out the Bay, I bet they are not expensive... Good luck
  13. I suppose the ring-pattern on the dial is one of those things you either are hung up on, or don't really bother about.. On the genuine, I find that the pattern add a very nice "depth" and sparkle to the dial. Like on this gen:
  14. Great preview! I am really looking forward to your review, By-Tor!
  15. Well, I sent him a question asking if it really is a genuine Breguet.. Report this crook!
  16. Interesting question... I remember seeing quite a few genuine Chineese Chronos with the Veus 175 copy movement, but none with the 7750 copy. I have read somewhere that the Chineese actually bought a license to produce the Venus 175 copy, so I guess it is legal to use. However, as the Chineese 7750 is an plain ETA-knockoff ( like the recent 2836-copy) I doubt that they would use it in "regular" watches?
  17. Cool story. Watches can be an icebreaker sometimes. Omega is very much a down-to-earth quality brand. I had a similar experience at work. I noticed a guy at the lunch wearing an IWC GST Chrono in Titanium. I was wearing a Panerai Marina Militare, guess he could not miss it. So on on the way back to the office, the guy comments "Nice Panerai". I complement him on his GST, and he turns out to be just as nuts about watches as me! :)He has even bought an Speedmaster X-33 after I told him about it, and are in the market for a vintage Explorer II, 1665... He knows that I collect both reps and gens, but never asks if the watch is genuine or what it cost. Nice guy!
  18. Hmm... First thought is that it is gen, hevy used though! Correct subdials ( no 24-hour), pearl looks good, bracelet looks ok. I see that it is four hands on the centre post, is it some kind of a split-chrono? I guess it is the same movement as is used in the Indy 500 (rep and gen), a Swatch and numerous other watches.. The movement is not very expensive, so it is possible that it was made a rep with all correct subdial functions, however I have never seen one. If the overall impression of price and seller seemed ok, I could have jumped on this.
  19. Funny article, thanks! "No no, it is not Minni Mouse, it is a cat with very big ers!" Everything is beeing replicated in Asia at the moment.. The new Ssanyoung Rexton looks sort of an Mercedes M-class. I am just vaiting for the Chineese edition of Ferrari 430.
  20. Seems like the Breitling and PO are the most coveted in here. It is hard to pick out a favorite among these.. Personally, the PO gets the most wristtime, switching between bracelet and rubber. However I have used the Chronomat Evolution more than I had expected at first. The Tag is lovely and is the most sporty, but it mostly remains in my box. Just like the Seamaster Pro Chrono, it just doesn't do it for me. I have traded the SMP Chrono, but will keep the Link. Remains to see what it will be of the Inge. Box-queen or daliy wearer.
  21. Sorry to hear about your problems.. The Explorer II is a beautiful watch, but the heavily modified 2836 with adjustable hour hand is as unreliable as the 7750 with seconds@6. I think they have discontinued this movement now... I have had much of the same problems on mine, have had no less than four watches with this movement, bought for familiy and friends. One works fine, on its sixth month. One lost one hour-marker after one month. The hourmarker got stuck under the date window. It went back to the dealer... Two months after, It seemed to have been lost, and I ordered a replacement. Then the repaired watch finally turned up. One month later the hands was out of sync. It has been by a local watchmaker two times, but he never really got it to work. The date rolls over between 18 and 22 o'clock, it runs ca 3 min/day too fast and has a nasty sound when hand-winding.. The GMT-hand seems to run a little bit faster than the rest of the movement, so they are out of sync.. My friend turned it back to me in exchange for a Noobmariner.. The Explorer II is still a very beautiful watch though, lovely date, date-alignment and date mag, small crown, correct dial and crisp numbers on the bezel... I have actually used it a lot lately... It is far better than the replacement EXP II, which rests in my box. My GMT-Master with this movement also seems to be ok, so far.
  22. I finally got the Ingenieur... And it is the right time to make a group-shot of the latest and greatest. All five are very good watches in their own right, but very different.. The Seamaster on rubber is the Diver, The Link is the youthful "Racing" watch, the Explorer II is kind of classic gentlemans traveller stealthy-Rolex. The Chronomat Evolution on polished bracelet is the flashy choice while I think the Ingenieur is the slightly odd choice for the enlightened watch-entusiast who wants a big chunk of steel with a high-quality heart... Which one is YOUR favorite?
  23. I recieved mine two days ago. And yesterday I picked up the Ingenieur, bought secondhand from a board member. It is just as solid and lovely as expected! I have secured the bracelet and wore it to work today. The right watch for an Engineer! I am a little bit reluctant to start to take it apart... I had a bad experience recently, trying to fit an ETA-datewheel to an Asian 7750. I have had a look at an uncased ETA-2824 which I have... The datewheel has tabs, which sits under some plates on the movement. Do you have to remove the top plates to swap the date rings? Who will be the first to do the mod and show their pictures?
  24. My good old Bjeitling.. From eBay: Poljot based Daytona replica.. Far from the real deal, but actually with a true mechanical chronograph movement. Lastly. The famous limited speed-divers "OYS TER" Daytona with gas escape valve.
