Has anyone contacted dealers re: "Fake" ETA movements?
P4GTR replied to JohnG's topic in General Discussion
Holy shit man. Summer is certainly here. Its a forum, not an archive. Stick around long enough and things are bound to be repeated, yes? Every thread I open around here lately has some sort of conflict brewing. -
Fully decorated gold intaglio signature on the rotor.

I don't know what your iffy about Jay, it looks really nice.

These shots make me realize the SOH is A: Huge, and B: very interesting in that color! Enjoy. Probably this when I wake up..

Richard Tracy! I salute you sir! This thread has been so fun to read and post in. what an awesome idea, and I feel GREAT!! - I hate that jewlery stores try to charge $800 for a watch winder! I get it. You fooled and gouged me on the watch, I guess im stupid enough to pay that much for a leather covered electric motor out of a toothbrush now, yes? - For every Fossil an archaeoligists digs up, 1000 Fossil watches should be buried in its place until mankind is rid of every single one of them. John Glenn wore a Heuer in 1962 on his mission to orbit the earth. Therefore if anyone TAG Heuer was the first swiss watch worn in space. Omega was the first watch worn on the moon. On the way to the moon, they should've past a satalite wearing a t-shirt that said "TAG was here" Put that in an Omega add.

Doc, they are untouched, no mods. I havent had it side by side with a gen yet, maybe the ever so slightest champagne tint... Its not bad like the old versions. This is the noob-yacht shown in the reviews, the "swissmade" with no spacing if that helps. (from Josh) The color looks good to my eye, but the 6 o'clock endice has been slightly crooked on a few that i've seen lately. It's ok. I do not like the asian 21K BPH movements. The watches would be nice with a DG or better, an ETA upgrade. I'm wearing the swiss SFSO today, and this thing sweeps without a hint of studder. Huge difference.

I still want this. Badly.

Technically speaking, there is a watch repair & upgrade, movement review & breakdown and Q&A section in the Knowledge Base section of the forum.

Thanks Sub. It's a Paul Chen from Hanwei forge. I know the feeling of selling what you shouldn't. This is the begin-Yacht from none other then the Joshua tree.

Not sure what this has to do with andrew per se, but Welcome. You're home now.

-I hate that the simple, classic submariner (and Rolex tool watches in general) walk in the door 2 minutes behind their reputation, and more then half of the people that own them don't "get it". -I hate that once my co-workers found out I was into watches, I am "Rolex" motivated, and post pictures of rolexs at my desk. Not any other brand, but Rolex. Look at my arm damn you! Up until last week I only had one Rolex! - I hate that I spent the last 10 years pining for a TAG, and now that I have one its not good enough, because I've become pretentious. I hate that anyone that knows anything about watches "thinks my plumbing supply business is doing well" because I wear a TAG and not a PP. Which leads me to my next point- - I think PP Nautilus looks like a 1983 Sony Trinitron with bad reception. Its ugly as sin, thats why no one noticing them. Clearly. I don't like much more then the simple luminor marina. Simplicity is what made Panerai. Nope. Lastly: - I find watches that beep hysterical! Watching someone push plastic buttons and hearing beeps from the watch cracks me up to no end! - I agree about the precious stones and yellow gold. Give me stainless, or maybe treat me to titanium. - I hate trying to explain to people why I want a rep divers watch to be waterproof when 99.9% of the watch is exact! Should it not serve its sole purpose aside from telling time? This from people that have fit genuine bands, dials, cases, crowns, and glass into a fake case and movement, yet the watch leaks like a siv. - Trim your arm hair back guys. Put the small guard on your beard trimmers and give it a try. If you don't like it, it grows back in a week or two. Nothing looks more gaudy then jewlery/watches nestled in tufts of thick hair. Doesn't this look a little better? - And I hate that I've always worn my watch on my right hand, and I burned the hell out of it.

It's the only rational thing to do.

I understand, and practice discretion, but.. You guys do realize RWG is the 3rd listing in a google search for "replica forum" right? Thats not exactly ninja. Don't get me wrong, I agree with everyone. But this info is available for anyone that takes the time to look. I wouldn't consider this place underground. Just a little diiiirty.

1st movement completely dead now. Bump.

Enjoy that, R. Thanks for taking the time to share your pics/info/review with us. I like the classics. This model is similar to the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, which I am quite fond of also.

Breitling Superocean Heritage - Just how good is this?
P4GTR replied to trustywatchguy's topic in The Breitling Area
Gotta hand it to you guys. Looks spot on. -
New watch received since last post. Update Edit: 12 hours since arrival, the watch is keeping time, maybe +/- 1min. Point to note: Most if not all collectors supply this movement in the noob watches. Problems are not one dealers fault over another, it is the movement itself that I am skeptical of. Choosing the right collector makes things a lot easier if/when a problem does arise. My collector emailed me shipping confirmation of a replacement, the same day I mentioned I was having problems. It seems that long term, the solution is to go with an upgraded movement. DG4813 or ETA 2836-2 Again, not news to many of you. Hopefully helpful to some.

Here are some thoughts I feel inclined to post. Please feel free to add yours. While the noob watch themselves have been highly touted for some time now, the movement itself leaves a lot to be desired per my recent encounters. I looked around for a review of the Asia 2813 by The Zigmeister but I could not find one. Please feel free to post it if I overlooked it. I have made 3 "noob" recommendations over the past few weeks. My word on the line, I am concerned that I have made a mistake by suggesting that these are inexpensive great "out of the box" watches. Most of my referals may not notice rehaut thickness, but a watch that stops keeping time, that they will notice. Here are some specifics: -The rotor is very loud. It vocally "clicks" in one direction, (this direction is assumingly winding the watch). When spun the opposite direction, some sort of built up energy seems to be releasing itself as the rotor spins on, and on, and on... for all to hear! "Is my watch supposed to make loud grinding noises?" "Why is that watch making so much noise?".. Not good. Not expected. -The power reserve is, well, nill. Once or twice a day, the watch will just stop. -The date change position slips. The crown needs to be pushed in, then the date position reingaged to continue to change the date. - The movement will stop when the crown is fully screwed down. This can be fixed by trimming the stem. - The hack feature does not work on one of them. So what to do? I'm not a watchsmith, but i'm slowly becoming one, as I seem to be "fixing" so many of my watches. I've resigned myself to the fact that I must immediately turn my focus towards puprchasing course materials and take the timezone watch school. Maybe then I will feel confident with movement upgrades for these watches. On that, I hope the DG movement is the direction we should be heading in, and is a serviceable movement with parts availability. Comments on this are encouraged. I would also like to know what genuine ETA movement is a direct replacement to the Asian2813, if any. Answer- 2836-2 Something else to note, the beat is 21K, not 28K.. Most of you know this. This is not disclosed, most noob watch descriptions simply states Asian 2813 movement. This flaw is as visibly noticeable as any other though, if not more. A lot of you know this information already, but there are people that come here to learn what we do not already know. If this post helps someone in the future, then my efforts were not a waste. I do not see these as long term reliable engines. I hope this thread helps answer some questions our "noobs" might be wondering.
