And even the least informed, can call out rep subs in seconds usually saying something along the lines of "lol this is definately fake, the bracelet is light and cheap feeling. It's definately not real." Does anyone else see the irony in that the quality of the replication, becomes its own demise?
  3. Having a watchsmith do it right, and the piece of mind that go's along with it- ~$10 Having the watchsmith return the watch to you, and being completely impressed that it was a rep- priceless. Edit- Please dont take it to an AD.
  4. The 6,9 and 12 are some of the easiest tells for me on the SFSO. They are flat on the gen, whereas the reps are more rounded and "balloon" looking. I guessed right
  5. man, paint thinner will work just fine. If they ask for specifics say its for enamel. Airbrush thinner or model paint thinner is what your looking for if you have a hobby shop nearby. Dont remove your caseback if you dont have to. Like Doc said, overkill. Just keep it away from the seams, that stuff will melt plastic, let alone eat up an o-ring. Have you even checked the caseback? It may be loose from the factory, most of the time they are.
  6. Your absolutely right. Donating has been on my to-do list and (no excuses but) i've been sidetracked everytime. After a brief conversation with a mod/admin, I will and want to contribute.
  7. I'm tossing around the idea of letting my gen. TAG Link calibre 6 go. Before I go and do so, or throw it on Ebay, I thought i'd get some advice & gauge the interest of my fellow members here 1st. As you know this is not a rep, as far as I know there is no rep of this watch even produced. The watch was purchased from Bailey, Banks & Biddle approx. 6mo ago and is the newest TAG Link model Calibre 6 out right now. Retail is $2,199. I am considering entertaining offers in the $1000 range. I have the box, wallet, booklet, card, etc. The watch is in excellent condition. There is a small nic on the bezel you can see in the first picture at the 5 o' clock marker. Besides that, there are some very small hairline scratches on the polished bezel, but all this could be buffed back to perfection rather easily with a dremel and some polish, I just couldn't bring myself to mess with it. Any comments/tips/questions are welcome. Advise on the best course of sale would be appreciated as well.
  8. the rehaut. Is it conical? 800 pictures and I dont see one straight on at the dial with no angle. Jeez man, get with the program. Seriously, thanks for sharing and enjoy the watch! EDIT: was posting while you were posting. question answered.
  9. Following torresp's DRSD with this is a bit uncomfortable, but its what I wore so.. started out the day on a NATO put the bracelet back on it at my desk once I got to work.
  10. wow, they have actually bred the dander allergens out of the cat. Amazing, I can finally own a cat.. for $28,000.
  11. I know they are there. Don't care if anyone else does really. I do love a good "nice watch" comment, or "wow is that a.." who doesnt though? I am always hoping they turn out to be a watch nazi like me so we can talk. The thing that gets me, is the wrist shake. You know, to get the watch face centered on your wrist when it settles a little off center. I have a complex about that, I am concious of myself to make sure I do not do it often.
  12. ahaha well, one has to wonder what you got yourself into out there in the wilderness to have a drsd bequeathed onto you.
  13. Thank you JD, excellent advice from a WIS man.
  14. Pix, that SLR looks good on ya man.
  15. would something like this be waterproof once all sewn up and ready to roll?
  16. (Yes I know it is not a Breitling ) The infamous "clock stopped at the stroke of midnight" picture. Still freaks me out to think about it.
  17. I'd melt down every gen ever made if it would bring him back. Save for maybe nanuqs DRSD and a tt sub for my dad. No longer will he have to suffer the crueltys of this world. Take comfort knowing he is in a better place until you meet again.
  18. you guys owe it to yourself to check out a movie called incognito. Its about a master art forger. Its not too old yet, '97. Do yourself a favor and remember to check it out. I dont suppose these watches of mine will ever have any monitary value. I don't care, they are my pleasure. I hope they last as a genuine would. If/when something happens to me, I can only hope someone will cherish them as I have. It surprises me how enamored I am.
  19. No wristies today huh? Slow around here it seems today. Could it be your all checking out the new place? today the gen-
  20. I did notice a bit of a difference after cleaning the threads with a q-tip with a drop of baby oil on it. I think im going to put a drop or two of WD40 on a Q-tip and really give the threads a good once over again. So no one can report any stripped steelfish it seems. Good. Thats definately something SF owners will be happy to see.
  21. The most surprising thing to me is not how close the reps are to the gens, but how close the gens are to the reps. There's just nothing there, no extra sparkle, no additional feature that makes a gen worth the gross % it is marked up. They are audaciously priced, which at times leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I do not think I could be 100% happy with either choice. I have always said, I am much happier owning reps knowing I have at least one gen.
  22. Thats bullsh!t. I was at a Breitling AD today and the guy pulled those straps out and handed them to me. Could've walked away with one for $75 on the spot. It was Bailey, Banks & Biddle if that is any help for you.
