Dang! Those serifs!

So I've got everything together to test how it is on the wrist. The second hand seems to slip when I move my hand quickly. I'm thinking its just not tight on the pin. Would this make sense? Its a gen from a 16800. Is the pin thicker on the 3035 than on the 3135 or could the second hand just have loosened up with age? Any way to salvage the second hand or do I need a new one?

Thanks. Yeah, there's some bits I'll have to take care of like that. It'll come all apart once I figure out the date disc. I still can't get it to change over consistently. It seems like the finger that sits between the teeth doesn't want to spring back in to place to push it all the way to the new date. Keeps getting stuck between the two.

Not going to ever be the greatest, but it'll always be my first build and its in to the home stretch. -
I wish this was a year ago. I'd have you order me a ST3135 case set and bezel assembly.

Scuse the noobishness, but is this just a traditional raffle? Like PayPal some money for a ticket raffle? I'm in if I've got it right.

Bezel insert color change doesn't follow all the way through the "6".

Intersting. I picked up some Clark's for my build. I wonder how they compare.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Wolf. I thought they were they were the hot shi*. I know they have some great customer service stories I've read, but I have no experience with them.- 7 replies

So I didn't get around to taking pics this weekend. With the impending in-law visit coming in a few weeks, wife and I did all the Christmas tree hunting and decorating. In addition, I began my movement/dial assembly and buggered a retainer on for the date wheel (big thanks to misiekped for coming to the rescue). I did have time to look it over a bit more closely and everything checks out. I also removed one of the link screws and it is tapered before the thread, which I've read can be another tell if that's missing. It does appear the clasp lock had been replaced at some point as its a very slightly lighter color. Not enough to be a bother. I will get some pics up this week for those following along from home.

Unf. Looks fantastic!

This is without the dial on. There would be no spacers as these are all gen parts. I reseated the date disc, but didn't turn the swivel retainer and it seems to work fine. Not sure why the swivel retainer would be putting pressure on it or throwing it out of alignment. I'm going to have to investigate later when I have time. Has anyone else run in to this before?

Well only an hour in to my first bit of assembly and it looks like I've run in to my first challenge. The quick change date doesn't seem to engage properly. It will only turn the date like 75% of the way to the next one and then can't grab on to continue changing. Same issue when I set time and go past midnight. It seems like the date disc may not be in properly, but I've checked, rechecked, pulled it off, and put it on again. Its under all three retainers the spring loaded holder is in and the screw dealy is secured. Any ideas?

See the thread below this one in the Rolex subforum. Started as a 16800, but has progressed to an early 90s trit 16610.

Unfortunately, I don't have my build done and haven't even received the case, yet, so it won't provide full context.

I would just do that. Honestly, that's what I was planning. I saw this one on the bay and asked some questions. After I felt I got the answers I was looking for, I threw up a bid, not really thinking I'd win. Its funny since I got some 501s in a trade with Ephry. The bracelet came with 593s. They arrived the same day.
