  1. Just having little wonderings re the rep scene here on RWG. We collect Reps for many reasons so below is just a question based on one of those many reasons.. ok so you came into the world of reps - initianlly as many of us do are like a kid in a candy store and soon have a full casefull for every day of the week - for some of us each am and pm as well lol. But my question is on this how many of you have actually gone and bought a Gen based on your Rep, meaning you love the feel, design, look etc etc thats it's made you part with those extra $,000's. Feeling proper love for my Rollie GMT II Ceram that as a watch the Gen is not that much $$ really, Deffo in my range to buy as Gen which I probably will do. For me it brings a flip side to the world of ultimately - ( and to use a Dealer term lol ) 'knock off' watches to a buyer through the doors of an AD to buy a Gen. What Rep was your poison ?
  2. This watch is stunning, Got my off Tribal in Feb 09' and it's now > has been for a good few months < my daily beater - slight hiccup with the rotor screws coming loose, simple tighten, grease up and away we go. Not lost a heartbeat and is getting better with age, can't beat a nice looking rollie with 'daily wear' armour on it. Hope to have this for a good few years. - These watches are a whole new ballgame to what was being produced a few years back, get the rehaut engraving sorted yes > does it bother me at mo > no, will it, no. for me all good, feels good ( get that bracelet smoothed up ) does it look good - Under a cuffed shirt > hell yeah. This has gotta top be in the top 5 Rollie reps of 09 ? Have fun, not got one yet ? What ya waiting for. Out of the box you can't really get much better.
  3. Love this watch, one of the best pieces I have in terms of just pure weight and feel. It's a first edition from Josh back in 05'. Canion pin up the creek and has sat on shelf for the last 18 months, don't think there is anyone in Europe who would fix this and it's a pig of a job and little local watchmaker would prob turn it into a million bits. Guess I got a nice looking paperweight - s'pose other option is fitting another m.ment into it. It's the A7550 and 05' 196 case > anyone know what else would fit or if another 7750 would plop in. cheers J
  4. Would love to get some shirts made, Off the peg stuff only ever fites good in one place. I'm 18" Neck, 8 Inch wrist but 34 waist. Shirtstyle I love the full cut away colour, double stitch shoulders and seams but must have cuffs not buttons, Problem is most reg cut 18" neck shirts have waist of 44 plus and cuff sizes for upto 7" wrist. Tom Pink's are ok and Dunhill not too bad, but think I'd like to get some proper ones made up.

  6. aaah you must mean these beauties ) < Josh's Suitcase
  7. Lol - someone who calls himsel Angel, selling a $14k watch from a fuzzy picture. Bet he has long hair, a string vest a pimps hat for the weekend and speaks with a Marlon Brando, Godfather tilt.
  8. Wasn't there a 1k price PAM being offered in 05' can't remember what model but it was the mvmnt cost. anyone get one of those ? ?
  9. Good question. I think what has indeed come on more over the last few years are peoples knowledge towards reps, indeed as posted before we would have spent $300 + on a noobmariner, the quality was not as good , neither was the reliability, sure we still have issues but most of the watches were built using photos of gens. There were unscrupulous(sp) people back then that would offer mods to your watches and charge you a lot of $$$ for it, subsequent years down the line we find out that those so called mods were done & parts, very cheaply, but an I hasten to add, you thought you was getting moneys worth as to have a lets say for the sake of it, ' Joe Bloggs ' modded Rollie, was like getting as close to what was thought of as gen back in the day. CN will never ever produce a 1:1 watch period, however what they will do is produce something that is more than capable of taking gen parts. Thats the hunt of our hobby for some of our purists, whilst others are happy to sport their noobmariner everyday of the week. Being out of it for a few years ( my last purchase back on rwg1 in 05' being the edition 1 PAM 196 daylight from Josh ) I've come back and literally had to take a deep breath. I've now got a couple of exceptional pieces over the last few months, but the is only one thing here bottom line to add. You get what you pay for and this forum is an absolute must to weed out the 'white lies' on whatever watch your after, the reviews are really good and I got GMTc ichs on this basis. The Chinese really have stepped up a gear over the last 5 years. What they are producing now even in so called 'ultimate' mode is way, way superior to anything in 04'/ 05'. Peace
  10. Thoughts ? As sold by AD. This watch is big - about 50mm to crown Add a custom made 24mm tobacco leather with orange stitching..
  11. Well I would say times like this more people looking for alternatives... current RWG board stats : Our members have made a total of 543,893 posts We have 18,993 registered members Most users ever online was 570 on Mar 22 2008, 04:27 AM More and more users to RWG. I'm sure dealer stats are down, would be interesting to see how they are collated and from what sources ? > Doubt we are ever gonna see this.
  12. Simple but timeless classic. wear it well
  13. Get a good DAR on this and you'll have one of the nicest reps around. - Enjoy it. my old double AR'd porto
  14. Probably any to do with TTK.......
  15. Started with Double reds, moved to PAM, into the IWC range - portos' & BP = timeless watches. Now going back to the vintage rollies. Tried Breitling did nothing for me, not interested in anything other brand at mo' Although do like big and chunky cause of wrist size, even reg sub looks painfully small on.
  16. Jacques Piccard, who has died aged 86, made many contributions to the development of deep-sea exploration and marine conservation. But he will be best remembered for one remarkable feat: on January 26 1960, in the bathyscaphe Trieste, he and Lieutenant Don Walsh of the US navy reached the bottom of the Challenger Deep, east of the Philippine Islands. At 10,900 metres (35,761 feet), located in the Mariana Trench, this is the deepest possible human descent into the abyss. For the history of Rolex, their development towards a perfect toolwatch, Jacques Piccard played an important role. After his succesfull mission, with the Rolex Deep Sea Special attached on the outside, Piccard sent a telegram to Rolex in Geneva saying
  17. Then let me add from a different perspective
  18. Corgi, stick him hard neg feedback, complain to ebay about transaction ( the won't do diddly squat ) but sets you at ease. or. do what i once did on a bad sale years ago, wrote up a whole webpage of the shyster and posted the link as part of neg feedback No he can't leave you neg feedback as the seller. Peace.
  19. Jaysus... but just how cool is that.
  20. To The OP, listen it ain't that bad, heres what i'd do. pop the bezel, lose it, 'el zilcho' work those CG's, bezel looks like it's been to iraq, yet you got shiny CG's + for that age your trying to get to they would be rather worn, get some patina on the crown, again far too shiny. Case, well you got do a bit more brushing on the case to age it. looks like it's been scratched up and down, does not conform to bezel, I hope you aged the bracelet. Align it all up, square up the date and it won't be that bad. Thats what RWG's all about learning and learning, - take all whats been said but more importantly, don't give up. Peace
  21. got a nice flieger strap for mine - looks and feels good see here http://www.rwg.cc/members/IWC-Portuguese-7...-BP-t93908.html
