  1. I prefer significantly prefer the smooth bezel
  2. Good tips!
  3. That is a great deal!!
  4. Hey jks, mine is a high beat. There is a mismatch between the ETA posts and the subdial hand hole sizes, but The Zigmeister has a clever workaround that makes everything fit nicely. This is a watch I really like, so I plan to keep it for some time. The small incremental cost of the ETA (compared to having the A7750 serviced) was a no brainer.
  5. If you don't yet have a macro lens (non-zoom), definitely get one. It'll have no problem focusing on your wrist from a short distance. Then you'll just need to hold the camera nice and steady with your other hand, or preferably get a tripod and cable release. You should also look into a light tent kit. Lighting is the biggest challenge, and you shots currently suffer from glare and excessive reflections. Something like EBay item #360032617981 would do the trick. That's a 32" softbox, though and you could get away with less.
  6. Nope. They're supposed to be shipping to me today or tomorrow. PS - The watch is the bomb, W!
  7. Thanks, B! Good to know. I didn't give The Zigmeister specific instructions on what to lume other than "dial and hands". I know he'll get it done correctly.
  8. 3,6,9,12 markers (and the dots around the triangle I think - maybe not), and the white luminous hands and subdial hands.
  9. No, not nearly as bad at 1x. The font is wrong though, as you probably know. Yea, my 6 o'clock marker is crooked, and I've asked The Zigmeister to fix that if he can.
  10. Step 1: Chieftang Double AR - CHECK Step 2: The Zigmeister Superlume (and marker thinning if possible) - PENDING Step 3: ETA 7750 swap (The Zigmeister to perform) - PENDING Just a quick and dirty photo after reinstalling the crystal when it returned from the AR Lab. No light diffuser being used. There is a lit dining room chandelier overhead at 11 o'clock and a window with the shutters open at 2 o'clock. And here's a good reason to at least do the ETA day and date wheel swap, even if you don't do the full movement swap (100% crop) : Ewwwe!! Chief
  11. I'm going to try to put together a small quick run soon....
  12. You asked for feedback on the insert and pearl, so I'll give it to you straight.... The insert print is mediocre and the pearl is not good at all. Gen is the only way to go. Here's one of my gen inserts for comparison:
  13. I saw you in JFK last week. But I was in a rush to catch my flight so I couldn't stop and chat.
  14. Projects rarely come together overnight. Take your time. Mod them both. Amortize over an extended period. There is no rush.
  15. Wow. Pristine!
  16. A nice post, but not TTK's own words... http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/emm...god_debate.html
  17. A good option is to extract the cross from that Silix dial and transplant onto this dial. I much prefer this dial over even the newer dial with the overly exaggerated trapezoidal date window, which also has a good cross...
  18. Thanks for the feedback, all. I am thinking for polishing, the visor could be valuable.... Stilty, I was thinking the same thing: eye protection *and* magnification. For general watch work, I guess I really need a better workspace so I'm not hunched over when using the loupe. The loupe itself probably isn't replaceable, as you all mention. Thanks again.
  19. One of those watches where, even if there was a rep, only the gen will do! Congrats and enjoy!
  20. Well reasoned concerted decisiveness. This is what makes RWG's the greatest admin team around. Thanks for the notice, TT. Now we move on. -Chief
  21. Does anyone use these for watch work: Instead of this: I think at 10 diopter, the visor would be about 3.5X, but that provides greater working distance. Can anyone recommend (good or bad) visors in lieu of a loupe?
