  1. LOL ! ! ! Is that for sale?
  2. Well, Mark (forum name Finepics) provides some services (I don't know about complete movement servicing) in the UK. He has recently decided to slow things down and take on a much lighter workload, however. So you'll want to talk to him about your needs and timeframe, etc.
  3. He is a little nuts. I agree. Before I cut down the winding stem on my 7753 to fit the Palp crown, I decided having a few spares around would be wise. So Bob tells me the 7750 and 7753 stems should be identical. I receive them, and visually they look *almost* the same. Well, his 7750 stems absolutely will NOT engage inside my 7753. They will push all the way in, and they will wind the movement in that position. But they will not stay in. Meanwhile, the 7753 that came with the watch pushes in and catches every time. Luckily I didn't cut the 7753 stem too short, so it was a non-issue. Another time (years ago), and this takes the cake, I had sent his company an email asking about a part... I think it was specific Omega hands. The next morning I arrive at work with a maniacal voice mail from Bob waiting for me. He's going off about how he doesn't have time to answer emails for small parts inquiries. How, based on my corporate voice mail system, it doesn't sound like I'm working by the hour. How he needs to sell $X per hour every hour of every week if he is going to be able to take weekends off, etc. And how if I'm sending him emails he'll never have time to make his sales. That day there was a long rant posted to ofrei.com (which is still there today I believe) about only inquiring about parts via telephone.... I so wanted to call him back and explain that an email response would have been far more efficient and cost effective that a long winded, long distance phone call, but LOOOOL whatever, Bob.
  4. Hmm. You sound more like a capitalist to me..... and that's a good thing. Competition is good for everyone.
  5. IME the bezel on trusty's A21J sub (the Noobmariner) is impossible to remove without bending. Been there, done that.... twice.
  6. If she didn't upgrade to EMS, then in all likelihood nothing will show up in the tracking system until delivery. I think the last time I did that, I waited 6 weeks for the watch to arrive.... and it was the LAST time I did that.
  7. The MBW 16610 has a great bezel. So does my pre-F TW Best. BTW I have a brand spanking new MBW 16610 (still in plastic wrap) that might just be up for sale soon......
  8. Can I come? I haven't been to Squid Roe in..... too long. Are there really good deals down there? How much did you save? I presume you have to get outside of the resorty area?
  9. WOW!!! Great news!!! If I see a numeral that isn't 1 2 or 6 I'll be sure to send it!!
  10. Nice gen.
  11. Let us know if you get your money's worth.
  12. And here's to hoping that another 7753 datewheel run is one of next year's projects for Finepics!
  13. I finally got around to installing the PALPv2 crown on my 196 last night. I highly recommend this inexpensive and simple upgrade to everyone!! Here's a pic. (BTW, yes the lever does sit flush. I guess I hadn't pushed it all the way down in the pic. I wanted a tight fit between the crown and the lever so there wouldn't be any floppiness)
  14. PAM 196, old case 7753 sporting a newly installed PALPv2 crown.
  15. Good everyday / all purpose watch indeed. This how I feel about my PAM 196. Except, since it's not a Rolex, the attention is kept to a minimum, which is how I prefer it. Most comments are along the lines of "Wow, that's a cool watch. What is it?" One time I got "Is that a TAG?" hehe
  16. My PAM 196 7753 (old case), which by the way finally got its Palp crown tonight!! Yee haw.

  18. Final specs are being reviewed by the engineers... I really hope to see some more interest so this project can move forward. I know there are alot of Arktos and Submersibles out there that would look a whole lot better with a proper cyclops - so speak up people!!! Now is the time.
  19. Interesting. The last coating I had on my glasses had scratches in it after the first few cleanings. And i even used the special lint free cloth they gave me!
  20. FYI - I will be receiving a sample from the lab next week. It won't be a sapphire crystal so therefore it won't look EXACTLY the same as on our watches since the refractive index of the glass he'll be using is different. But, it should be close enough for government work to see how this AR looks. Now, I'm not sure how to take pictures of a piece of AR coated glass so everyone can see how it looks.... but I'm open to suggestions.
  21. Oh baby baby.... buh bay bee baby.... oh baby baby.......... Your workmanship, your attention to detail, and most of all your patience and perseverance are truly an inspiration. That is a fantastic piece and you must be thrilled with it. Congrats!!
  22. Just a dial. $20 USD.
