  1. Welcome! I'm down in San Diego at the moment myself... About to meet some co-worlers in the gaslamp for drinks and dinner. Stick around. You're gonna like it here!
  2. Marty, I'd say it depends on what the rest of the formula is going to be. If you're talking a high quality case, like a J&W, and a gen dial then I'd round it out with a gen bracelet. 585s are hard to find and not cheap when you do. So if you've found a good deal, I say take it.
  3. I think there's more than one thing in the jar. Possibly some Tootsie Rolls, and Hershey Kisses ?
  4. Nice writeup. I think the minor case contours wouldn't get to me so much. It seems that with the 16520, for example (because I'm more familiar with it), they altered the case design many times over its lifetime and that service replacement cases today are themselves slightly different as well. Variances are found in lug thickness, lug contours, pusher notching on the underside, etc. Really, I think, what this goes to show is just how amazing a DW based rep can be!
  5. Boy, oh boy... is this one ever nice!
  6. Hmmm... To be honest - it doesn't look good. Vintage tritium has a texture that you can not seem to replicate this way.
  7. Whatever you do: Don't let Nanuq within two states of that shiny new strand of stainless steel!!!
  8. I miss the old days of The Replica Collector. The red light / green light dealer ratings. Not really being sure you'd even receive a watch after you paid. Natalie's A+++++++++++++ subs. (I still have a Natalie watch). Hmmm, what else from those days...
  9. Awesome, man. It must feel good. Congrats.
  10. Neither of these are terribly plain, but they've both done me well in dressy situations (which thankfully for me are few and far between). This one I collected the parts for and then gave to my brother. He wears it everyday, but has no problem wearing it under a suit either. I just wish he'd take a little better care of it.
  11. The Zigmeister does it again!!! Very nice! Congrats!
  12. Nice, now check out the the JLC Reverso Gyro Tourbillon . . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk3DAOupOt4 Grail? Oooooh yes.
  13. Something made by Daniel Spitz. It wouldn't really matter what. Edit: Dan is extremely impressed with the Christophe Claret tourbillon(s). So while I wait for him to custom make me something special, I suppose I would settle for one of those, cased by any number of companies...
  14. It doesn't get any better. Perfection. Cheers!
  15. Ya, you could drive a truck through that gap. I'd say the 45mm isn't for your wrist. Try downsizing to the 42mm model.
  16. Agree on the bezel screws. That's what I want!! Who was your dealer.
  17. Sort of a AP-Hublot hybrid.
  18. @ubi - handsome choice! Well the pics of the chronomeister have had me in a blue dial mood, so I've been wearing this one for a couple days now: Go blue!!
  19. And at this point I'd suggest having Phong email photos of the actual case he plans to send before letting him send it... The problem is that all Phong cases are definitely not alike, and I'm a little curious as to whether his mfgr for the good one is no more.
  20. Not a straight drop in. Actually about as far from a straight drop in as they come, truth be told. This thread gives you an idea of what is necessary:
  21. Looks awesome.
