As someone mentioned already, the way to achieve the gen look more easily is to coat the entire underside of the crystal, and both sides of the cyclops. With the top side of the crystal uncoated, you're going to achieve the exact same look as the gen: lots of reflection off the crystal surface, with a clear cyclops over the date. The AR under the cyclops only on the Rolex crystal is slick, but totally unnecessary.
Nice shots of the old 063. I think the LX5 is the best "point and shoot" digital yet. Fast, sharp, decent in low light. I'll going to get one for Mrs. Chief this Christmas. Played with one at a local camera shop and was impressed.
Huh, interesting. I was just thinking the other day that the Super Avenger mania had run its course but didn't realize the factories had stopped producing them.
Anyhow, you might just post a wanted ad for the bracelet. Many people have swapped out to gen Pro II bracelets and probably have the rep bracelets lying around. I already sold mine.
Well, would you look at that! I never noticed the number 7 before. So the ETA wheel isn't truly accurate for 3 days out of the month. Hmmm. Now I must have a gen wheel! *sigh*
It's one of those things, IMO, where if you found a gen bezel and had the spare cash -- go for it. But if it were me, I wouldn't be actively hunting for the gen bezel. Your watch looks great as is. It's not going to be a big bang for the buck upgrade, and the midcase is still not quite right anyhow.
Ooops... you already mentioned the dial. Nevermind. I am losing it!!
Not miles away, but not the same coating as the gen. Many of the reps are using a good quality AR coating. The gen Breitling AR coating is different though. It's more effective, and more expensive. I know what their secret sauce is. But, nevertheless, the rep coating I've seen on at least a few models is still not bad.
Ditto. Love the XKR, myself. The XKR is probably my favorite car on the road right now. And I've been looking at the XF 4-door pretty seriously lately. I'd never have even considered Jaguar for a split second in years past, but they're building 'em very well now and have reliability ratings that far exceed Mercedes and BMW. I only wish the diesel models were available here in the USA, as in the UK.
There might be a sexier car on the road at this price, but if so, I don't know what it is.
I suspect true here as well. I still remember paying $6K USD for mine, in the early 90s... It was in good shape, but ran for about 2 weeks at a time before needing some sort of work. Today I suspect it'd be difficult to find the same car for under $15K. Some day I'll probably buy another, fully restored. Either that or the '67 427 Stingray, which is my grail Vette.
What's the JAW price? He's going to be very willing to deal, and you shouldn't have to pay more than $1100, which as I recall, is about what George sold the MBWs for. And, BTW, the "good" JAW case (he has more than one variant) is better than the MBW.
I bought a '80 L82 after finishing a master degree (seems like a common thing to do)... it was a project car that turned in to an endless money pit. What a piece of crap. But I still loved driving it... when it was drivable.
