  1. Hard to feel sorry for Charlie, IMO. He brings it all on himself. And besides, he can replace that Patek after 10 minutes filming the next "Two And A Half Men" episode.
  2. And a follow up.... Capri Anderson -- I Will Sue Charlie Sheen 10/30/2010 1:00 AM PDT by TMZ Staff Capri Anderson is getting ready to drop a legal bomb on Charlie Sheen -- TMZ has learned the porn star is planning to sue Charlie for the events that went down during his hotel meltdown in NYC. Sources close to Anderson tell TMZ ... she believes Charlie was acting so crazy in his hotel room at The Plaza Hotel on Tuesday morning -- that she felt her life was in danger ... and she also felt like she was being held in the room against her will. As we previously reported, Charlie tore the room apart -- busting a chair and causing damage to several hotel items. Capri ended up locking herself in the bathroom and calling hotel security. Capri claims Charlie also threatened her in the hotel room, although she made no mention of this to NYC cops when they interviewed her about the incident. FYI -- law enforcement sources tell us officials have no plans to file charges against Charlie. http://www.tmz.com/person/capri-anderson/
  3. Wow, I'm not on the best monitor here, but that movement (minus the one screw which looks like a wild silverback attacked ) looks very clean! Given the age - I'd say it's incredible! Have fun with the restoration!! PS -- Phone Bob Frei rather than emailing him. The email just might send him in to orbit. (Been there done that)
  4. Easier said than done, but I'll definitely keep my eye open for dials!
  5. Sander, yes you do build them.... and like nobody else! That's not my particular preference in dials, but I'd definitely be interested in a sander-aproo !
  6. Well it's Monday morning here in Cambridge, UK and I am wearing this one in to the office. And I'll be wearing it for the remainder of the trip, as it's the only watch I have on hand:
  7. I've done it in a backyard BBQ island. Not Guinness specifically, but a keg tap with CO2, refrigeration, etc. out the counter top. It looked (and I say "looked" because I sold that house) something like this: http://www.beveragefactory.com/refrigerators/beer/60hk.shtml But, geez, I don't think I paid even half of what they're asking for the kit.
  8. Mickey, "South coast" doesn't sound close to London, otherwise I'd say pass the case off to me while I'm there this weekend.
  9. Same function.... VERRRY different methods used in achieving it. But given the choice, I'd pick the $300 version, anyhow.
  10. Well I've got to say that the minute repeater is a very cool complication. Something to behold. But it's also a very silly and worthless complication. Nevertheless, I didn't think the sales price was terribly outlandish. I just found the article interesting, and the watch gorgeous!
  11. Best wishes, Marty.
  12. Hmm, I concur with the previous poster. Lug screws going in opposite directions is a first for me too. And you'll also have to contend with a non-descript case back if you get this one.
  13. Sweet!!
  14. Indeed there is!
  15. Whoa Nelly!!! And good to know about the reset detents.
  16. http://blogs.wsj.com/scene/2010/10/18/valuations-why-is-this-watch-worth-312000/ Purists prefer Patek Philippe, says Vanessa Herrera, deputy director for Sotheby
  17. I'll check out that book, vly. HP-18 is still my favorite, and I'm half way through my second bottle. I'll be heading to the UK soon and I think I'll be looking around the duty free shops for the Talisker 18. I've now heard that it's every bit as well rounded as the HP, but has a different character. Mmmm, sounds interesting to me.
  18. Good God Almighty.
  19. OK, so Rolex parts are heavily overpriced on the gray market, the sky is blue, and hell is hot. But I'm sure as soon as Rolex opens parts kiosks at all shopping malls, or parts vending machines in front of Walmarts, then prices will come down. In the meantime, however, people will continue to pay a premium for scarcity. Nice that you have a buddy with a parts account who provides no mark up. Thanks for the reminder. But that's the exception, not the rule. And, as for members who are reselling parts that were obtained at cost as a big favor (and I stress BIG) by you - VERY uncool.
  20. Welcome aboard, also from Cali.
  21. Wow, that's beautiful. And I am very glad to see these threads starting to make a comeback!
  22. OK, well, point me in the right direction... I've only got a couple nights in London. Age: old enough.
