  1. I think the dial is ok sloppy and all... The tritium lools a little too white compared to the off colored (presumably faded) hand though.
  2. What is an aftermarket crystal, Alex? (Just a WAG - 1655 isn't my area of expertise)
  3. If this is *the* watch for you, and you're sure you can afford it (kbh's words not to be taken lightly), then absolutely go for it. You don't sound too sure, so it may be wise to enjoy the WM9 a while longer until things settle down in your personal life. Anyhow a 2003, I believe, will have lug holes with SELs. These models should always be a couple to a few hundred less than the 2004+ non lug hole models. So the full package should definitely be under $4k. I'd consider $3500 a good deal but not a stunning deal. If you're patient, you can and will find one for slightly less in good shape. Expect to lose a little on resale down the road even so. But you're not ever going to lose much if you keep it in good shape. Some day, I'm sure subs from this era will drop below the $3k mark but that will take a while and you'll have enjoyed it a lot by then if you do decide to sell. Never look at it as an investment, though. It's a luxury item, and nothing more. Let us know what you decide to do, and of course post pics if and when it arrives.
  4. Is that the one I saw that came with punch card?
  5. I'd opt for a T dial without question. But that's just my $0.02.
  6. Andy, I spaced out on my payment... if I can still get in on this please shoot me a PM. My apologies.
  7. Ah, ya. Nice catch! You are indeed a geek!!
  8. You mean the second hand is tweaked?
  9. Good to hear the damage was contained, W. W for Watchmeister that is... Watchmeister and Zigmeister sitting in a tree.......
  10. Man I feel naked. I forgot to put a watch on this morning! But I'd like to pretend that I'm wearing this one because it is due some wrist time:
  11. Nice, Andy! I'll take 3.
  12. Great walk through, and the rest is history as they say...
  13. So you want a replica, not a gen I take it... Here's a good place to start looking: http://www.rwgforum.com/forum/196-bks-watch-garage/
  14. Hmm, that MKI sure looks a lot like the MBW, doesn't it. So fat and sexy!!
  15. Better late than never with the pics! Love it!!
  16. I must say I've never seen one of these before, but I can see why it appeals to you. That case is different and yet so classic... And it's quite the remedy to the occasional doldrums we encounter in the monotony of standard black or white dials!
  17. Oooohhhhh..... the Cobra! Niiiice!
  18. Nice and fat!! Just like I like 'em.......
  19. Simply lovely, Andy. And I love the jig for the case hole drilling. That is brilliant. Please pass it around to your fellow modders!
  20. Beautiful, sander. My grail as well. Congrats to you, and I'm interested in hearing the story behind it.
  21. +1 Enjoy the watch. It's a nice piece of history and probably looks great on the wrist. I'd agree that a tritium insert would be a nice addition but don't let that stand in the way of enjoying it now. Tritium, as alligoat says, doesn't always change colors uniformly. Plenty a vintage out there have hands, pearl, and dial that don't match in patina. Here's one I saw recently that is 100% original save for a replacement crystal : Enjoy your new piece. You have no reason not to!
  22. Wow I agree. What a looker!
  23. I have been wanting either a marinemaster or Marathon SAR to send to avitt for some DLC treatment. Proabably the SAR though, since it has a familiar movement that comes out the back of the case unlike the Seiko.
