You'll see pics of the SS version with the thicker fonts also. This has been debated in the past, and was originally thought to be a flaw on the rep (i.e. that the rep dial font was too fat). But it is not the case.
Actually, I'd say it's pretty hard to beat the weather in the Bay Area. Sure So Cal does beat it, but not many other places in the country, or even the world, do. That said... I'd trade the SF Bay Area for SoCal in a heart beat for many other reasons than weather... In fact I'd trade the Bay Area for many other places in the country where the weather is worse but the sanity level is so much higher. But, hey, that's just one Bay Area native's opinion.
I am not really the person to answer the question, but my intuition says that if the case clamps are effecting the operation of the movement from a timekeeping perspective, then the effect would be more catastrophic than a difference of a few seconds a day... A few seconds a day can be the difference between resting the watch on its left side vs its right side overnight... if that makes any sense.
Something on his end for sure. DNS seems messed up now.
http://www.jewelryandwatch.com gets "Connection Refused"
But http://jewelryandwatch.com connects fine, however I still can't pull up the product index.
I haven't seen the issue with the accuracy, but when we start tossing date overlays and what have you between the dial and the movement, the case clamp tightness can most definitely play a roll in the date flip. There has to be enough clearance. I recently had the issue on a franken datejust.
Heh... Was trying to browse earlier too and it wasn't working. My traceroute is getting stuck at an intermediate router in Brampton Ontario, so it's not getting too far... Have a feeling something is still going on at his end though.
Hehe... Sure, it's not over by a long shot. But they might just be pressing the panic button about now ... if not jumping up and down on it and pounding it with a sledge hammer!
BREAKING...
Canada reportedly to change it's national anthem to "Uh Oh Canada" after Sunday's shocking defeat to the USA in Olympic Men's Hockey.... More on this story as it comes available.
What ubi said... And I still think this is one of the great reps in the history of reps from an out-of-the-box accuracy standpoint. And actually, early pre-production pictures from IWC showed the same rounded date font that ended up on the reps - starting with the first "made from genuine sample" EL version. So, there is a slight possibility that early versions of this watch from IWC also had the rounded font.... but the Lello wheel does certainly remove any lingering doubt about accuracy.
Congrats By-Tor! Hopefully you like the gen dial color as much as the rep! I think it looks great, especially with that sweater sleeve in the wrist shot.
Yea, and I don't know how often either... A quick EBay search for "16520 case" in the completed listings yields nothing.
I've been looking around lately myself.
Have had one of my SAs on for several days, and it's starting to make my arm tired carrying it around...
Have had one of my SAs on for several days, and it's starting to make my arm tired carrying it around...
So time for something lighter starting tomorrow morning
Don't think it's genuine, but could be wrong. Could be the photography. It's the older version with trapezoidal 4 in 40, though... and you don't see that in aftermarket inserts much. So we could all be wrong.
Here's the gen insert I put in my 16610 with lug holes. It's the correct older insert, which also has the trapezoidal 4, for the pre-F serial subs...
