Sweet. Looks like you're enjoying it. I love the navi. My only problem with buying a gen would be.... which one!

What's the legality in carrying a roll of coins for defense?
HauteHippie replied to TeeJay's topic in The looney bin
You're a wishy washy believer in Second Amendment rights, then. And that's your right too. But, driving a car is a privilege. Owning a gun is a right. To be granted a privilege, one must pass tests. To exercise a right, one does not have to do anything. One does not have to pass a test and carry a card to exercise his right to freedom of religion, for example. Now, this is not to say that rights can't ever be denied. But insofar as run-of-the-mill gun ownership by law abiding citizens is concerned, firm believers of Second Amendment rights do not advocate nor support government imposed hindrances that stand between the citizenry and their constitutional rights. -
Very nice Navi!

Beautiful, BT! All joking aside too.... that little guy actually does have some impressive pecs!! They really show in the last pic where he's doing flys.

A real beaut. Nice job shortening the CGs. That makes all the difference! Great dial there too. I'm still very partial to the old Noob dial most of the time, but this one is just as believable. Tribal The Sub King strikes again!!!!

Been a while since I've done a pair of crown guards...

Well you definitely still have it! In fact this might be your best work yet! Very symmetrical and perfectly shaped! Just how lanikai likes 'em!! -
Big congrats BT. This is the joy of life. Nothing can even come close to comparing.

That's a very nicely crafted piece. Makes me yearn to get back out in the wood shop!

Hey Ubi. Nice one. I bought my lady a gen of that very watch over the summer! Stainless, smooth bezel, white dial with roman markers, oyster bracelet. She absolutely loves it. Her first question upon receiving it? "Is it a franken?" Hehe. In this case it was not, though.

NEC 2490 WUXi It's great. Love mine. Got it for a steal too.

I can't think of many because they're not the types of websites I browse. But what happens at legos.com on an iPhone? On the computer you have Flash containers on most pages that allow you to interact with the site, e.g. browse all the kits in rotatable 3D among other things. Maybe the non-flash version has simple jpg replacements, etc? I suspect there would be quite a bit of missing content on the simpler version of the site, though. And it is not the same experience. But I guess it's still better than what I get with my browsers that (intentionally) don't have Flash loaded: An empty box on the page and a note to download flash.

Ok, didn't know it had a dock and bluetooth. Good. And I'm not bashing the product; I'm honestly still trying to "get it". I'm trying to figure out how this can be a big seller. What market segment does it go after if it isn't a useful device for the typical Windows user? Why is this less versatile device better than, say, a Macbook? It's not. It's a simple device for people who find the normal PC or Mac too complicated.... Perhaps it's the next generation device for the typical WebTV user. And it's a cute gadget for Apple fanboys everywhere as well, of course. I guess we'll just see how that translates in to longer term sales. I could easily be wrong about it.

It's less than 30% of the sites you browse, I can believe. In my case, it's probably less than 1%. But it is not less than 30% of the overall web.
-
I agree with Jobs on this, and I *hope* they're successful in killing off Flash. It's a huge POS. They've just got a marketing problem on their hands at the moment. New standards don't evolve and proliferate overnight, and the average user has no idea why his new iPad doesn't work with 30-40% of the web. They just know it doesn't and aren't going to be happy about it. On an iPhone, it's somewhat forgivable because it's a pocket gadget.
-
Is that a part of the marketing campaign? "Trust us. You won't miss having 30-40% of the web come up blank when you use it." But I guess that's sort of the point: It's just a giant iPhone. It's not revolutionary. Now I'm sure the iPhone is a nifty toy, but I just can't think of why I would need one. But, then, according to that article you linked to a few posts back, the computers of the future don't actually do anything useful. Hrmm, well it's not like I'm asking how to run linux on it. I'm simply wondering how someone would use it to replace a Windows PC. The typical Windows user wants to fire up Word or Excel and get stuff done. Most peeps won't want to use Office apps with a crappy on-screen keyboard, and apple didn't provide a USB port on this thing. Even if they had, though, I suppose that would have defeated the purpose of relative portability and simplicity. Anyhow, don't get me wrong, I can definitely see it being a fun toy for watching movies, surfing 60% of the web, and playing games (that you have to pay for). And I certainly can appreciate the simplicity of this device. But beyond that.... it just doesn't do enough. And that's not the future to me.
-
I have a simple idea to improve the iPad, or at least to make a product line that gives consumers more than one option (besides 3G / no 3G). They really ought to make a larger one that is the size of a standard sheet of paper. And they can call it the iMaxipad. Thoughts?
-
Sure, but it's a shame that web browsing is hindered by this. And I'm honestly not sure there is a big market. TwoTone definitely pointed out the type of person it might be very well suited to. But that's not a statistically significant market either. So maybe it'll end up giving the Newton a run for its money.
-
Trouble is, IMO, you really need something wide enough to rest your arms on. Maybe it's just me, but I think something that small would be uncomfortable. When I'm tinkering, I just use a regular desk and a short chair.
-
Should be good. It's a pretty simple watch to duplicate. With a gen sample (let's hope that's true) to reference, there's really no excuse for it not to be perfect. Agree with everyone else here too. I normally prefer the larger sizes, but for some reason the UPO doesn't do it for me and the 42mm is just right.

Ah, shows what I know about iStuff. Oh well, I guess it won't meet the needs of my 5 year old, if he can't even get the full experience from legos.com etc
-
So does the iTablet thingee support Adobe Flash? I'd consider getting one of these for my 5 year old, but some of the limitations I've heard so far have me wondering.... :g:

As a side note... the level that a select few of the frankens have reached in the last few months is really something to behold.
