  1. even claims to be a rep lol... I suspect it is a rep
  2. how does one "lose" a genuine one? I would imagine there is someone out there with a machine that can cut them out (water jet or something along those lines). Wouldn't having a genuine one to take the measurements from mean you could just crank out one that was of the exact same measurements. I suspect that is what people are doing and because of the demand they have to charge an arm and a leg.
  3. doesn't play flash videos on websites... goes to the site to download flash and then says something about how it can't download the file. I tried to sync up my palm pro via bluetooth to use it for the data and no dice. However with things like the palm pre plus which act as a wi-fi access point the 3G version for like 100 more isn't really needed. Especially if you already have a smart phone with a dataplan. Why pay for two data plans lol. Now I am just waiting for sprint to get me hooked up with a phone that acts like an access point. till then it can replace my first gen ipod touch.
  4. I am hoping so at least with mine. It is perfectly fine other than the power reserve lol. And I really don't see the seconds hand move regardless since it is a small one and I don't run the chronograph part.
  5. Mine wasn't a nice crisp 8 ticks either (not a rolex, but movement is what I am talking about). I was thinking it could just get sloppy or something wasn't stopping and releasing the gear as smooth as it should or as clean as it should. I kind of thought it would clear up after getting serviced. I received a PM from someone who I will have looking at this watch (power reserve problem lasts anywhere from 4-6 hours on its back, to at most near 8 or 9 hours on the side) after I get paid next. When I get it back I will try to take another photo to see if it clears up any. Also if it is the gear or something along those lines I don't think it could be resolved without getting a new gear to put in place. link to my seconds hand moving
  6. Probably have ones with the wrong date font like the sea wolf. I didn't think they had different versions either, just the swiss with double AR and the asian without the double AR. Now that they are harder to get I will probably end up hanging on to mine.
  7. eh probably normal.
  8. Looks nice, wonder if there will be a good rep of this model. If so I am down to get one
  9. Mine were snazzy hand held. This one was F3.2 at 1/30sec handheld. Probably could go much sharper if I was willing to set up the tripod or base. This one was F2.8 at 1sec handheld resting against body lens on desk.
  10. LOL... Now I keep it in a wallet...
  11. I think it has to be changed so that the genuine movement fits...
  12. QC is Quality Control. If he doesn't have a price listed on his site send them an email or message and ask for a quote. Let him know you want one with a genuine ETA not some clone. As for as movements in gold, I don't think you will find may replicas with gold plated movements. I am no expert on movements or even watches but from what I have read off the various forums ETA movements were brass and then they received plating, nickel, gold, rhodium. The nickle plating is probably the most common (maybe no plating could be common also I don't really know) the rhodium would be the most expensive for plating.
  13. I suspect the battery is dead... little expensive also.
  14. I do that with everything I order... I assume if it shows up before that time it is good.
  15. That stinks. Hopefully your stuff doesn't turn out as bad as you think it will.
  16. My first purchase was a blue face SOSF that I bought off TRC in their sales section. It was one that someone had put a genuine rubber strap on. He posted lots of photos of it and wasn't asking much over what a swiss one was going for new from the dealers. later that day I noticed someone else selling a few models cleaning out some other watches he had. This guy was local and i ended up getting a great deal on a white face graham chronofighter oversize. He had some others that were very nice looking. I ended up picking up the graham later the following day. Also had lunch with the guy, who was very nice. (If he is over here send me a message, I have some questions lol). Check out the items for sale and see if there is something in there that you like. I have only purchased one watch from one of the dealers a millgauss GV all of the others have been second hand from members on the various boards. Also the price doesn't really reflect how close they are to the genuine or the quality. At least that has been what I have seen.
  17. Nice find on getting the gen dial. I have been looking for a nice blue one.
  18. Congrats. Those skylands are nice looking watches.
  19. I like them so far. The autofocus and everything works in most cases.
  20. The bay has them also amazon, and most camera stores. These were what i bought to try out some macro stuff...
  21. Thanks for the information.
  22. Looks really good. Are there genuine dials around for these and do you know if the crystal is removable to get coated.
  23. I like mac and PC but for the discussion about a cheaper PC matching those specs I figured why not up the ante and instead of looking for random ones you can pick up at bestbuy or something why not go with a a fancy builder and see what all one can get for less then a base run of the mill macbook pro. voodoo envy (now HP) comes packed with a snazy quadcore i7 720, 6GB memory, 500GB hard drive, 1gb ATI 5830 video card with HDMI output, but its only a 15inch display 1920 by 1080 (can't even get one of those from apple). Now for the bad news... upgraded battery so it only gets 6 hours of battery life and weighs only 5.17 lbs and its only upgradable to 16gb of ram and comes in just at 1912.00. If one stuck to the highest dual core i5 processor you could drop 200 off and 150 off if you went back to 4GB of memory or about 1000 off but only a 15 inch. So with that 1000 bucks buy yourself a snazzy new watch. Or Dell Studio xps 16. Again not a snazzy 17 inch. But comes with the same processor same memory an ATI 512 mb video card, HDMI output and a 16 inch 1920x1080. All the other jazz but battery only lasts 4.5 hours although extra batteries run 150 to 180 which would net another 4 hours or so and put you right at the macbook battery life. And at a slick price point of 1400 bucks it is about a grand cheaper than the macbook pro. But lets not forget those shady sony people. People are always talking about how they are over priced. So lets see how it compares to a macbook pro... Well rats again no 17 inch option but lets go with the biggest thing we can. Looks like an F series its 16.4 inches display. So what do we get well we get a quad core hmm well go with the base quadcore i7-720 for now. 1920 by 1080 display, check, 1GB video card, check, backlit keyboard, check, 4gb ddr3 memory, again check, 500 gb hard drive, yep. Oh damn bluray burner better check that option also. Now for the bad news... its 6.9 lbs and only 3 hours of battery life. but at 1450 with all the options it could be a good deal. So what does one get for 2400 bucks in the PC world... Well at dell you can get a fully loaded 15inch with 8gb memory, T9900 processor, Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0 MP, additional battery putting your in the 8 to 9 hour battery life area and still have 300 to spare. At the HP store you can pick up an envy get top of the line quad core i7-820 processor, 8GB DDR3 System Memory (4 Dimm), 500GB hard drive, 1GB video card, 15.6" diagonal Full High Definition LED HP Ultra Brightview Widescreen Display (1920x1080), Bluray reader, wireless N with bluetooth, standard battery with additional larger battery overing 6 hours of battery life, and you get it for just under 2500 (2497) Price for price you get more with a PC. However I really enjoy the mac they are great and I have had no problems with mine and still looking to pick up a decent macbook pro 13.
  24. I am waiting until June to have zig work on mine probably going to get the hands lumed also while it is there. Overall mine is working and keeping good time but its a little noisy on the wrist and I don't really think it has a good power reserve. Not amazingly short but if I take it off and get a good 8 or 9 hours of sleep it will be drained when I go to put it back on. you can check with VAC I just did a week or two ago and was told he wasn't servicing the A7750 but he offered to look at mine to see if he could try and resolve the power reserve issue. Wouldn't hurt to ask him though. Heard great things about his work and hopefully when I get my watch he is working on back I will have some great things to say as well. Also the reserve problem on mine doesn't seem to be as bad as it was dunno i will test it tonight take it off when I get home and see what time it stops.
  25. this thing...
