  1. I am run Exchange and would not recommend the do it yourself route, especially since we upgraded to 2007. It is quite different in the management console than previous versions and until they released SP1 a ton of commands had to be done via command line because they were too lazy to finish the UI. It is quite heavy on the resources it wants as well. It baffled me why I had to buy a 64 bit server for it and then spent months typing crap in a command line. If I wanted to do that I would have left my Linux server in place. I also would avoid 1and1 like the plague however, speaking from experience.
  2. I had a guy in at work the other day from the owner's office wearing a canal street rep. I noticed it immediately but I did not say anything negative. I said nice watch and he took it off and showed it to me and fessed up. We had a nice watch chat after that and I found out he was quite the horologist and knew quite a bit about reps and gens. I brought in a few of my best reps and gens mixed in a box and asked which was which and he nailed all but one. He called even called the Skyland right!
  3. Well I went back and read some more posts and was glad most everyone agreed. I have a funny story for you guys that I thought I would throw out. A guy in my town was in his late 70s or early 80s and his wife passed away. He started drinking a bit and got drunk one night and wrecked his car. Totaled it. The insurance company told him it would be a couple of weeks before they settled with him. During that time he was without a car and no one in his family would give him a ride anywhere. After a day or two he got fed up and rode his BICYCLE to the one car dealership in our town, walked up to a Caddy and asked the salesman "How much?" Salesman quoted him a price and he said I will take it. The salesman asked the old man how he intended on paying for it and the old man answered back "I will write you a check." The salesman looks this old man up and down, an old farmer in overalls who rode a bike on the lot and does not believe him. The salesman humors the old man and takes his check, goes inside and calls the bank expecting to get blown off. The salesman turned white when the bank said that the guy had plenty of money and the check was good. The salesman, after treating this old guy like [censored], tries to make amends by asking the old man if there is anything else that they could do for him after the sale. The old guy answers back "Have one of you boys put the bike in the trunk for me, it was a long ride here and I am tired" Classic story about a salesman judging someone and it almost bit him on the ass. I work with a relative of the guy in the story, have heard it from everyone in the family. My own granfather is worth a few million and wears a five dollar digital watch on a strap he made out of leftover leather in the garage because he wore the original plastic one out. The drives a Dodge truck from the early 80s, bought it used for 500 bucks a few years ago. His "nice car" is an 87 Cadillac. The rich don't get rich by blowing money on expensive watches on the way up. Some of them never feel the need to at all. My other grandfather died flat broke after a lifetime of manual labor. I have a watch from both of them, that is what started this sickness of watch collecting. Ironically the watch from my rich grandfather can't hold a candle to the lovely pocketwatch that my other grandfather gave me. Out of all of my gen Seamasters, gen Monaco, gen this, rep that, those are my two favorite watches. If either of my grandfathers gave me a fake Rolex with a quartz movement and some [censored] like the guy who started this thread called them crap, we would have a real problem. I would hope that he bought himself medical and life insurance if such a thing ever happended.
  4. I just read the first post in here, none of the responses and I must say that was a pretty [censored] thing of you to do. Your fake is as fake as his fake, but you passed yours off as gen and you knew better. Maybe the guy really did not know. In his mind the thing could have been a gen, I am sure he had to work his ass off to buy it even if it was a Canal street fake. Pointing it out to his coworker is even worse, it proves you are an assbag. He was right though, his surely keeps better time. Mods, if I am out of line or obscene please feel free to amend or delete this post. It just makes my blood boil that someone can judge another person by a watch without judging himself first.
  5. I read this last night and was going to say a Speedy Pro or Planet Ocean but I figured I would think it over at work today (yep, I am bored). I don't know that a Panerai is a good choice to hand down to your son. I don't think anyone has recommended it yet but another great choice in my opinion is a Breitling Navitimer. Should you go the SeaDweller route there is one on TZ in your price range.
  6. That is a pretty bold statement considering the new A7750 is pretty reliable and the genuine ETA movements are drying up and the ones that come out in reps are often crap used movements with problems or are just asian copies.
  7. Hublot would still want to add ceramic to that though.
  8. I just got an e-mail from a trusted dealer (not naming it as I don't want to advertise) that the Concord C1 price is now $200 cheaper. I may need to pick one up now.
  9. I just realized I need to add a vintage or two to my extensive gen Omega collection. Thanks!
  10. Thats funny, I was at a party the other day and Frank Sinatra beat the [censored] out of me for not wearing my Oris Frank Sinatra model (yes, I have one).
  11. I apologize but I despise blanket statements. A man such as The Zigmeister as certainly run into a movement or two that he hates, be it the one I mentioned, the GMT CHS "Mods", the slow beat Asian Chrono, etc. Just as I like reps, I would not dare claim to love all reps.
  12. Women of course! Oh you were talking about a job, my mistake.
  13. Even that crap hand wind Chinese movement you posted about that blew the gear and did a de-lume of your customer's Panerai? You love that one? You are too kind of a man!
  14. The V1 Skyland! It was hot [censored] for about 23 hours or so....hard to get shorter than that.
  15. Obviously that is not right, you consider price because you buy reps not gens.
  16. I guess I need to post my spare for sale then....
  17. How many of you guys are posting with gen pricing in mind vs. how many of you are posting in terms of I like it because it is $300? Kind of a weird question I know being that we are all here but it is always something I consider when purchasing a rep. I would never buy something way out of my gen price range like a PP or AP for this reason. I would rather buy another car than a gen of those. It just seems odd that as Omega is trying to go upmarket they release this kind of a tool watch. And no one has commented yet on the movement price hike because the Co-Axial is supposed to be the best movement since the invention of the sun dial (this is another reason I think you are all posting just in terms of it as a rep). I thought of several tool watches I really like and thought of several "vintage throwback" watches I really like as well (Breitling SuperOcean Heritage for example). I can think of a ton of watches in gen price range of the PO that I would buy before the PO and I can think of a ton of reps in the $300 range that I go to before I go to my UPO.
  18. My new reduced has it as well, I like to hand mine to people and see if they notice it. Another neat trick is to use toothpaste to remove scratches from it if you were not inclined to purchase a special product.
  19. Glue a triangle in the crystal. Put Skyland on ground when sun is out. Use as sundial. Your mileage may vary when dark out.
  20. Hi, My name is Fidestro and I have a confession to make...... I hate the Planet Ocean. Ok, maybe not hate. Hate is a strong word. I dislike the Planet Ocean. I don't mean the rep either although obviously it falls in criticism here as well. I was wearing my (one of my) gen Seamaster the other day and really stared at the dial. The wave pattern is amazing in the right light, the design of the case, the shape of the crown guards, all are extra touches that made me fall in love with this watch years ago. Then I look at the P.O. It is more of a "tool watch" which I am fine with, but at the same time it bores me to death. Any fine detail is gone on the dial, it is regular black without any embossed design. The markers are just average, same with the hands. The bezel is not contoured like the SMP. The bracelet is completely brushed and has none of the shiny touches of the SMP. It is big for the sake of being big. It is almost like they took out the neat design touches on the SMP and just replaced them with sheer size on the PO. On top of that we get slapped in the face with a big price increase because it features the "new improved" (the jury is still out on that one) Co-Axial movement. It seems that perhaps Omega is having PO backlash. Remember how everyone went apeshit over the fact that Daniel Craig was to wear a PO in the new James Bond flick coming out in November, then Omega issues the new special edition James Bond and it is a regular SMP style (although one with a new dial, a kind of hybrid between the black dial and the markings, hands, and bezel layout of the blue dial). I guess there are only so many ways to dress up the plain jane PO. Having said that however I must state that I would bet my house that Omega is cranking out a special Michael Phelps Planet Ocean as I type this that will probably be limited to 800 or 8000 pieces. Something with eight in it.
  21. I personally think this thread has reached a point where it needs locked, but I do enjoy the individuals who wax poetic about how great the iPhone is. The new 3g has a serious problem with the chipset causing it to drop calls and the battery life on my iPhone (pre 3g) is awful. Give me the old Nokia any day of the week. I don't need a phone that can make take photos, play music, surf the web, make toast. All of those are secondary when the damn thing CAN'T MAKE A CALL!
  22. Hey, one of them has a watch on! I was on topic after all! bitchin!
  23. Brazil has twins in the syncrhonized swimming competition. And they are hotter than the sun.
