  1. Watching with interest...
  2. HBTY HBTY HBDRWG HBTY!
  3. DON does very good quality, reasonably priced straps, some are reasonably thin.
  4. Beater: Omega uPO Dress Watch: PAM 183 Smart Casual: Omega Speedmaster Pro 'Moon Watch' Sporty: PAM 111 This is compiled from ones I own.
  5. I agree totally, I've rationalised my collection to some pieces that are modded and serviced to v high standards and it'll take something REALLY special to make me get a new piece. I have my grail gen watch too.
  6. Bought my first rep from Eddie, best wishes to him.
  7. Nah, so far so good on the crown, lume is as good as my old 4th gen too, best 'out of the box' lume I've had on a rep. Very accurate too.
  8. Don't normally like pocket watches, but that is beautiful indeed. Looking forward to seeing the completed work. Good luck Rob (I have enough problems trying to re-link my bike's chain, but that one EEK!)
  9. I've got a Greg Crazy Horse and Historic Brown and owned a few DON straps too. Greg's are much thicker and more expensive, DON's are great value for money. Try DON's limited editions - the tobacco lambskin one in particular is a lovely strap. Can't go wrong with either really, depends on your preference, budget and patience (Greg's are hand made to order).
  10. I agree completely. I've now got 5 reps and 1 gen, the PAMs (111, 127, 183) are fully modded, the uPO is straight up a belting watch and the Moon Watch is my perfect watch (which is why I bought the gen). All get decent wrist time and don't sit gathering dust. A watch is meant to be worn after all. This is my collection; I think we can have it too easy with high end reps to get watches that otherwise would take the majority of people a long time to save for or big CC bills. The ease of ownership reduces the 'je ne sais quoi' I feel and makes them feel less special to me. That's why I got shot of ones I didn't wear and invested in the ones I want to keep. Personally I can't understand why people have 20+ watches (just my opinion and not disparaging those who have).
  11. Sadly my work trips to London don't coincide with this date. Have a top time and I look forward to the pics.
  12. Err, no it's not. I certainly wouldn't be laughing if I'd bought a watch I thought was genuine in good faith to be told via a website it was a fake. It seems he has had his money refunded so that's something. At least we know they are reps when we get them.
  13. Further down there's a post of someone who bought a 4th Generation 42mm PO thinking it was real for $1500!
  14. Nice; sometimes I miss my old case 196 although it had the 7750 mvmt. Sometimes I wish I'd bought an old case 7753 196 when they were available, hey ho! Onwards, onwards...
  15. Aye the subs been sunk. Sorry couldn't resist, gets coat...
  16. Nice one, welcome to the Fiddy club!
  17. Here's mine on a Greg Historic Brown, vintage length - L-O-N-G
  18. Welcome to the forum, always a pleasure to find another Speedy Pro fan. Never seen the Alpha version before! I did a post comparing my rep Speedy to my new gen that you might find interesting (see By-Tors Omega guide). You're right that it is great watch in itself. You could ask your friend to freeze the 6 o'clock subdial.
  19. You could get a second hand gen via TimeZone or Paneristi.com sales corners. For a rep get a 111H (mines from Josh) and mod it to within an inch of a gen...
  20. Very useful comparison pics. Good effort. Wonder if you can swap needle for dagger and leave the rest of the movement unaltered...?
  21. I've seen a picture of a Japanese LE speedy with that orange chrono hand. Look like yours has one of those hands, it's definitely not correct for that model Speedy. Try speedmaster-mission.net for a good speedy site
  22. I bought my Speedy Pro gen from a UK AD and negotiated a discount that took it to internet dealer prices. So a great price and peace of mind too.
  23. I've got a G series 183 from PT. Finepics serviced it for me and stated that the threads on it were good and I've had it now for over a year wearing it fairly frequently with no problems. Apparantly there were two different versions of the 183 about one with decent threads, one without. However it's pot luck which one you get. As mentioned Davidsen offers replacement crown and tube.
  24. Seconded!
