  1. It should not be a surprise that the BOSS 302 kicked the GT500 in the butt since the '500 never got the necessary suspension and brake improvement to match its power output. A few years ago, UK show Top Gear illustrated just how much better the Roush Mustang was over the Shelby for these very reasons. The Shelby's are fast alright, in a straight line, whereas the Roush had fewer HP, but was quicker due to its cornering and braking ability. Seems like FORD has stepped up to the plate with the BOSS 302 that holds to its history. A car designed to go fast around a track instead of just a straight line. Its cool looking to boot! I believe there is also a version that comes with two keys, a black one for regular driving, and a red key for racing. The different chips in the key re-program the on-board computer to either regular or race mode depending on which you use. I suppose that would be good to remember to NOT hand over the red key when having the car valet parked . As far as the coolest Mustang, I still think that Lt. Bullitt had the only one! And here is my copy of that icon; I can surely say that while it may not be the fastest Mustang, it certainly has character. The way it rides, the smell and rumble of the exhaust, and the low end torque all make it a special ride. Now how easy it is to change plugs on, well, thats another matter. Cheers
  2. Gotta love grandpa Simpson!! Where did you get that animation?
  3. Nice looking collection there, although there are a few that bother me for some reason. I am no expert here, but see if you folks agree with me here; Does the crown on the following look too big to you? Especially the LV, which for some reason, really looks like a rep to me in that picture; Also, look at the number "4" on the GMT's bezel, it looks odd to me , like there should be a "flatter" top to that 4. I dunno, it could just be the camera lens distortion. I also have an issue with the Milgauss, the coronet on the dial does not look as "sleek" as I remember the genuine being normally. Oh well, I am not in the race for them anyway so no big deal to me, I just hope whoever buys them gets all gens as advertised. Cheers P.S. Hi everyone I am still around, just not as much lately. I hope you are all doing well.
  4. Basel 2011!! Damn, is it that time of year again!!!!! I'm getting old. Cheers
  5. Interesting thread, thanks for sharing this joerg. Its a shame that even after all this time, and all the other advances in the rep watch industry, we still don't see a modern style Daytona worth owning. They have been proven to be pretty to look at but worthless as a functioning watch (unless you get lucky). Rep makers appear to have zero interest in producing a better Daytona, so at this point, anyone looking for a good rep Daytona would be better off going with a Spinmaster vintage build or go the extra 5 miles with a custom V72 franken or a Movado/Zenith franken build. Much pricier solutions I'll admit, but when you are done, you really have something special. For me, after a lot of thought on the subject, even though I would love to own a Daytona, the cost of building a good one (or buying a gen) is just not worth it, and thus I move on happily without one. Cheers
  6. Well, at least you get free shipping Cheers
  7. I suspected this for a while since a member here a while ago posted pictures of two MC frankens he had that both had Poljot 3133's in them. Still, I would not mind having that one since it would be more affordable to poor folks like me. Cheers
  8. Hi all My other hobby is vintage audio, especially old tape recorders. I found this on You Tube and it shows an amazing collection of spy size recorders from the fifties up to current day. Check out the watch microphone at 3:20, and the Zippo lighter as a tape recorder shortly after that at 5:10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvA6nHucubo Cheers
  9. I think we should pin this thread to the top!! Its probably the most entertaining read I have seen in a while and the build itself shows great ingenuity . It proves that a great project can be made on a shoestring budget, and that is part of what this hobby is about. Great read and an even greater project result, thanks for sharing!!! Wear it well!!! Cheers
  10. Fantasy model or not, I LOVE IT!!
  11. "I can't quite decide weather wearing a fake watch takes courage or not" Interesting statement indeed, when you think of it, it does take a certain amount of courage for a lot of us to wear our reps, no matter how close to the gen they are. Fantastic program, thanks for sharing!!! Cheers
  12. Stefano's blog entry for the red sub in question is here (replace xx with tt) hxxp://stefanomazzariol.blogspot.com/search/label/the%20first%20model In his blog in the entry called "the first model" Apparently this watch had a prototype dial that somehow made it out of Rolex's hands. Cheers
  13. Cool stuff indeed!! Good to see you posting again Rob!! Cheers
  14. Mmmm, I love the smell of exhaust in the morning . I still got my '68 Mustang, although she really only get used sparingly these days. Affordable?, maybe. Cool?, definitely!! Vroom
  15. Here are some photos of some Tudor chronos showing up on iOffer, all for stupid cheap prices; This one shows up on multiple users and its the same photo, still, I offered $75 US and $30 US shipping, they responded that the quality is good on this item and the counter offer of $180. I think I'll decline on the counter offer. Good luck TeeJay, I hope you get something, post pictures if you do. Cheers
