  1. How about just using the GMT function as the hour hand (do not mount a hand to the normal hour wheel). Then, label the dial in 24 hour time (normal 6:00 would be labeled 12:00, normal 9:00 be labeled 18:00 and so on). This way, one revolution of the hour hand would be a full 24 hours instead of 12 hours, then mark the bezel in minutes. Sounds like a fun project!! Cheers
  2. Thanks for sharing this as PDF everyone!! Great resource! I like the idea of the forum having a section for saving such information too . Cheers
  3. You did a lot better than what I would have done. Trying this kind of this for the first time makes you appreciate folks like Zig and Vaccuum who do such an expert job of it. I'll bet with a little practice, you would get a lot better at it. Cheers
  4. And also the question of how thin this movement is and what case(s) it can be used in?
  5. This may be a rather unpopular opinion but, LEAVE THAT WAKMANN ALONE. Its got looks, and a character all its own. This one in particular looks to be in primo condition to boot. I came across one of those a few years ago. The seller was willing to let it go for $800 and I had to leave it do to being broke . That still kills me to this day. Wear that beauty with pride. Cheers
  6. I'm not saying that I am buying one of these soon (spending any more than $5 for lunch nowadays goes against the grain), but if I were, at this price its a winner. Especially the blue dial one. Its time to get back to good 'ol cheap and cheerful rep fun anyway. When it was time for me to bite on getting a Deep Sea, I went with WBK's $160 model, and I could not be happier with it, sure its got the un-centered 10 on the bezel as well as a few other quirks, but its got the overall look I wanted and runs like a champ, and when the crown came un-attached to the stem one morning, I was not upset at all considering what I paid, I just fixed it and moved on. Same with this PloProf, get the best you can for the least money and don't sweat the small stuff. Its a rep and it will always have some little thing about it that gripes you. Its just nice to finally see something new get released (something the community has been actually wanting). Get one of these puppies and a steel mesh bracelet, and you are good to go. Have fun!!! Cheers
  7. That Defy Extreme chrono from Josh's website boasts a modified A7750 with closer subdial spacing, same one they use in the newer super duper Omega PO chrono, so IMO its possible to do those others. They would have thicker cases than gen for sure, but they would make great reps. That Senator Sixties chrono is real sweet!!
  8. Its kinda eerie that when the battery went flat, the movement stopped with the second hand dead at 12:00.

Nice watch!! If someone is giving that away, I'd be glad to take it Cheers
  10. If they can rep this monstrosity Then they can certainly do this one This one This one Or maybe even this one!! So how's about it rep makers?? Whats holding you back??

  12. They have already perfected into a 1:1 rep (as close as possible). Now they are re-engineering the effort into phases of release. Version 1 - near perfect case but with inaccurate dial printing, poor rep lume and hands that are too short. Version 2 - perfect dial, great lume, but with misspelling on caseback and poorly operating bezel. Version 3 - this is the light version with cheap 21J Asian movement. This is the version with the absolute perfect case, acceptable dial and good build quality. It will be discontinued a month or two after introduction and become a sought after collector peice. Version 4 - new "ultimate" version only available from the more expensive vendors. All details near perfect but this one will be plagued with somewhat poor build quality and the normal lack of QC. Version 5 - the franken built by members who have a lot of cash to spend and buy all of the previous versions and combine them with any available genuine parts. I think this is usually the release schedule now in the rep world, isn't it? Wow, do I sound like a conspiracy theorist or what Cheers
  13. FYI- Just this morning, Michael Weatherly was on the CBS morning news (plays DiZozo on NCIS), and he was in fact wearing a pumpkin Planet Ocean. So I figure what we see, at least on that show, are the actors' personal watches and are probably all gen and not just props. Cheers

Cheers
  16. If anyone in the US watches NCIS (the original one), they will notice agent Gibbs wearing an Omega PloProf on a orange rubber band (really hard to miss in certain shots).
  17. I dunno, I'll bet if I back-handed someone across the forehead while wearing my Deep Sea, I'd put them in the hospital at the very least
  18. 7000 watches crushed, hundreds of thousands more comming from Asia every year, what a waste of energy. I wonder how many other violent crimes were happening while all this good PR was going down?
  19. Let those folks alone with their own opinions. The less they know and understand about this little corner of the watch collecting hobbies, the better off we will all be. Lets be sure to give this guys brother a warm welcome when he gets here. Cheers PS, I didn't know we were all Russian mob here .
  20. Especially happy will be Phong, ND Trading and Yuki.
  21. I'd like to thank the rep collecting community at large for providing hours of entertainment, knowledge, inspiration and camaraderie. These threads have always been a pleasant escape from real life from time to time, thank you all. And, thanks to Spidey7 for starting this thread, me thinks it would make a good sticky. Cheers to all
  22. A couple of years ago, I went to a Rolex AD to inquire about a new bracelet for my GMT Master. When I originally got that watch, it had a folded link oyster bracelet that had a divers extension (wrong for that model) and I wanted to get a jubilee bracelet for it. I asked the price for a new stainless jubilee expecting to get a price of a couple hundred, nope, I was told $850 !! For a stainless steel bracelet!! And, on top of that, I was told that I would have to give them the old oyster bracelet . I said "thank you, but no", and walked out. Instead, I got an aftermarket jubilee, all stainless, for $50 . Sure it is totally unmarked, no Rolex logos at all, but it fits the watch perfect and this way, if I want to switch it out for another oyster later on, I would not be wasting on a $850 part . What about that folded link oyster? Well, it is now on my Tudor submariner franken and it looks every bit the part, give away my oyster bracelet, like hell !! That's right folks, that gen watch in my sig uses an aftermarket bracelet and I love that watch every bit the same. Good topic! Cheers
