  1. I'd be interested to see what you find out. I won't ask what the production number is, but I would speculate if it is a late number it could be more likely to have the movement. Maybe they ran out of the standard movements and grabbed a NOS replacement movement to finish off the run. How many people would take off the case back anyway. Another reason for my thinking would be that I recall that some of the early 005's used a long arrow dial that was left over from a previous run. I haven't seen one up for sale in while, but I do know people asked a higher amount for them a couple years ago.
  2. If you have box and papers that match the movement to the watch then it definitely came that way from the factory. I think it to be franken. That movement's decoration hasn't been produced by Panerai in 5 years and even at that it's incorrect for a closed caseback model. However if the paperwork matches I think it to be a very rare and valuable model. If you find the watch is a franken, I'd swap out that movement with a standard eta model and put the movement in a rep 127.
  3. Closed caseback will really make that hard to tell from gen.
  4. I have a gen 111F in Columbus. My camera however sucks big time. If anyone in the area has a good camera we can meet up for a photo shoot.
  5. Work of art. I can't even imagine working with pieces that small and the thinnest of margins for error. You skills are truly unmatched.
  6. I agree with all the above and one suggestion. Get a g-shock or something else for the gym. I just can't see any good of wearing a nice watch there. Too much metal and other things go bump into. i realize that it just a rep, but still.
  7. Probably look for a local jeweler. I was in downtown Cleveland last spring and most of the jewelry stores downtown had the iced out watches. Personally, I don't like the look, but to each his own. They wanted a ton of money for most and yes I did see a PAM and a Breitling Bentley at one store.
  8. +1 Lots to look at there. Last time I was there the Panerai selection was a little weak, but the had 2-3 rose gold Radiomirs that were pretty cool.
  9. Work of art! I love the movement, looks brand new! Prob one of the best vintage PAM creations I've seen.
  10. The gen should be model 2200.50.00. Not sure it would be worth it to upgrade to the gen bracelet unless everything else has already been done to the watch. I have the gen and actually wear it on a rep strap.
  11. I've been watching the values of 210's drop. I'm going to be selling off a couple reps and a gen or two and pick up a used 210. I've seen with box/papers sub $3k mark.
  12. Besides the crystal those hands don't look correct for a 111. Hopefully you will get it sorted.
  13. Is it possible to reverse this mod? I'm sorry but you took a large step backwards. My advice would be to look for a new hand and replace it. Not trying to be harsh. We all try stuff and many times it works out. In this case I don't think it did.
  14. That's a great explanation. The Tritec stuff is the best that I've seen and my The Zigmeister modded 127 seems to have the same brightness as my gen 111f.
  15. I think what he's trying to say is none really have a great glow. Some people say that DSN or Puretime have SL (superlume), but you never really know what your going to get. You best bet is to buy what you like and have a forum modder apply new genuine Tritec Super Lume.
  16. I had my 127 relumed with c3 which is the brightest and according to most the correct number. Some claim to have mixed c1 & c3 to make a better lume, however I don't believe this. I would go with straight c3.
  17. Welcome to the board. I think you are going to lose some sleep in the next few days! I know I did.
  18. That's really cool. It looks like the number is acid etched on this model as opposed to being engraved like the ones that were released to the general public. It would be a sweet mod if we could get our casebacks engraved like that. If I ever dropped the coin to put in a gen movement it would be worth a lot to lose the infamous E0117. The 117 number is a dead giveaway.
  19. We have a whole section of trusted collectors. You should be able to get a 127 from any of them. I have no experience with who you have listed, but please let us know your feedback.
  20. Wow that is great! The bridges are correct for that model as well if I'm not mistaken. Not that it matters, but some sunburst gears would really top it off. Since it is a closed case back no need, but if you ever had to get it serviced in the future. Wear it well!
  21. Yeah, i would recommend it. I had my 100% swiss 6497 serviced by Zig 2 years ago and it ran great after that. Still running strong. I'll probably have it serviced again next year or maybe the year after. I don't wear it that often.
  22. I agree with the others. I would keep these dials as a reference. You can look at these after you are skilled and think "man I have come a long way!".
  23. Did the watch protect his wrist from the knife he was using to cut it? This story is nothing more than a fluff ad for a jewelry store.
