  1. Thanks my thoughts too $400 isn't even 1 car sale........ But it is less work, now that I know where all the stuff is.
  2. So get this.... As I predicted, business is crap without me and I have been asked to go back to work on a temp basis. Good timing too, with the holidays coming around. I still have cars, and also a box of phones and blackberrys to sell so everyone is getting a present this year! 2 days a week for a week or 2, then 3 days thanksgiving week and a full week after that, then back to 2 days a week for an indefinite period. Too bad I don't even like the job that much.........
  3. Thanks again. I shot him an email for a price check. Maybe I could have asked around here though, but maybe some people have different understandings with him
  4. Ok, this is becoming some sort of twisted web for me and I need some outside perspective. I've expressed interest a few times on here about vintage daytonas, and I bought a few parts before I realized how much the project would cost. (this was a while ago) Lay off, blah blah, I put my not yet started project out to pasture and sold the parts I bought. I made a acquaintance along the way who is seriously gung-ho about these project watches. He wants me to sell him more stuff than I had, so I pointed him to several places that have what he needs. For some reason, he wants to go through me on everything, but I tried to explain to him that it would take twice as long and be alot of work on my part. He says thats fine with him, and tells me what he's willing to pay, which is more than it would cost me to buy it, about $400 more. I sourced this stuff, so maybe making some change on the deal would be cool, but WTF, it doesn't feel right. Doing something for free, something which is a total pain I may add, seems retarded so I'm in some kind of *moral?* dilemma. I sat on it for a month and didn't even speak to this guy. Fast forward----I see freddy's watches AND get asked, almost begged to come back to work in the same day, so I start looking again. Then this dude PINs me and asks about bridges and tells me he's still looking for a case too. Before, I told him just to look up ntdtrading, they have some. Now there's this DW, but I don't want to just start giving that guys info out since we don't even know each other. If I do buy a case from him, it's going to be for me, not someone else and it's not going to be right now anyway. I recommended that the guy joins a forum or 2, and he's not interested in that either. I do have a little fish on the hook with an old ntd trading case for sale, I sold someting to him before and kept in contact, and I can get it for a good price. I suppose I could sell it right away to this other guy and get some bank off of it, but I don't know if I want to. At the same time, I can't think of any reason NOT to do it. I was looking at this Ntd case for myself, then heard about DW cases, and heard they were like $350, so that seems good for my watch, which I could afford with the sale on the other part. AHHHH! The past few days, every time I turn around its 6263 this or 6263 that and throw a good 6265 at it while we're hitting me in the head with all of this. I feel like a freakin junkie who ran out of smack or something. This potential buyer has more faith in me than I feel I instilled, and I feel I have several options but don't know which one to take. I will list them to keep this from being too objective: 1. Buy the case and sell it right away for $400 extra dollars and put that towards my case 2. Buy the case, sell it for close to cost, feel stupid and wait some time before I start mine 3. Buy 2 DW cases, sell him one for twice as much, then I get one free and he gets one for way less than the other one. 4. Don't do anything, tell the dude I can't get it, then wait until I'm ready to buy one for myself. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, we've had some interesting watch building chats, I just don't want to take advantage of him. I told him that, and he said thanks, can you get it or what? I have money. Money is the one thing my father always taught me to never say no to. I sell stuff left and right to strangers, cars, phones, computers, satellite equipment, but I never really took pleasure at making a profit off of someone I know. This guy sure doesn't seem to mind though. Maybe he just doesn't want the hassle.
  5. It looks like DW doesnt sell on ebay anymore, unless he uses a different name, which I doubt since I don't see any cases on there at all. All of this talk about vintage daytonas is causing me to want one really bad, or at least look into getting one. So does anyone know where DW went? Feel free to PM if necessary.
  6. I know that guy sells frankens with supposedly refinished tudor dials, refinished with rolex marking on it that is, and non-tudor 28xx movements in supposedly gen cases with aftermarket bands. He never says this particular band is authentic in the auction in question. Searching through his feedback, you can see that he buys these parts from sellers in asia for less, and sells them for almost double. He has a few purchases from this guy: http://myworld.ebay.com/parts4rolex now, compare that to his page: http://myworld.ebay.com/eleganttrade. Same items, new pics, ships from US, thats why he is able to get more for it, people are more likely to pay more for items that are local. I see those bands going out of asia for 39.00 on the bay, from sellers with the same products as parts4rolex. Hopefully the seller will allow a mutual agreement to not complete the sale. If not, I guess the only options are to buy it, leave neg and get neg back, don't pay and get a neg and an unpaid item strike, or pay, leave pos, and get pos. That is probably why his feedback remains high. Add on: These are a few sellers who I know to sell aftermarket parts without stating so: (they will admit when asked, so always ask!) gohmeiling jewparts junkdvds (has some gen some AM, doesn't specify) Well, thats it for now, the rest on my list are no longer registered users........hmmmm......... Guess I better make a new list.
  7. A man calls his boss one morning to say he's too sick to come to work "whats the matter?" the boss asks "i have a severe case of anal glaucoma" the man says "that sounds like a load of crap, what the hell is anal glaucoma?" The man replies, "I can't see my ass coming to work today" A boy comes home from school and tells his dad that his homework assignment is to find out the difference between "potentially" and "realistically" "easy" says his dad, "go ask your mom is she'd screw the mailman for a million dollars" The boy runs off, comes back and says "she said hell yes" "ok, now go ask your sister the same thing" the dad says The boy returns and says "she said yes too." The father says, "ok, look, potentially, we're sitting on 2 million dollars, realistically, we're just living with a couple of whores." A man is in the hospital recovering from surgery. The surgeon comes in and says, "I have some good news, and some bad news" "the bad news is we accidentally amputated your right leg. Tomorrow we're going to have to take the left" "Dammit doc," says the man. "what could possibly be the good news?" "The guy in the next room wants to buy your shoes." Q: What did the egg say to the pot of boiling water? A: It may take me a while to get hard, I just got laid this morning Strolling through a park, Shelock Holmes and Dr. Watson pass three women on a bench eating bananas. "good day, ladies," shelock says. "you know them?" asks watson. "if you're referring the the nun, the [censored] and the married woman, no I don't" "then how did you deduce that, sir." "elementary watson, the nun eats her banana in small slices, and the [censored] shoves it down her throat with both hands." "And was the third woman wearing a wedding ring" watson asks. "No, she was holding the banana in one hand and pushing her head toward it with the other" a kindergarten teacher asks her class, "what vegetable makes your eyes water?" One boy raises his hand and says, "an eggplant." "no," says the teacher, "an onion" "an ONION!!?" asks the boy, "Have you ever been hit in the balls with an eggplant?" A nun wearing a full black habit is walking past a bar when a drink man stumbles out, sees her, and punches her in the face. Before she can scream, he lands a quick jab and finishes with an uppercut. She goes done, and the drunk starts kicking her in the sides. A few of his friends walk out of the bar, and as they pull him off the bloody nun, he yells, "You're not so tough now, are you, Batman!"
  8. SOLID 904L SS? A true must-have for any serious collector. The zenith gets to your house in 3-4 days, while the swiss arrives overnight, a true testament to fine swiss manufacturing. "7. Will no one ever be able to tell the difference? We are very honest when we say that no one can tell the difference. Not even your jeweler. Here are just a few reasons why: These Swiss replicas are so rare that no one knows about them. The factory only have a capacity to make a small quantity each year since they are individually hand-crafted. The quality of the material is the same found on a genuine Rolex. The manufacturer uses only high grade solid stainless steel, and solid, genuine 18k gold. This way, the weight and the feel of the watch is identical. Fakes are not designed to go in water. But if you can wear one of these while you go deep-sea diving, no one will ever suspect a fake. Would we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, along with a 2 year warranty, if these watches were poor quality?" Return policy highlight: Watches must be in new condition, and not worn or used. Please do not remove any links, don't remove the plastic on the bands, or wear the watch. The poor, poor people who buy from this site. Glad I found the old rwg and then this before I started on that route
  9. It changes it and makes me feel retarded. But I'm used to that. I thought they were 500? In that case, for 800, I'd pick it up before the person changed their mind. When I get a chance I'll have to look at my bookmarks and ebay watched items page and see what I was really thinking about. That brings a V72 powered rep with ntd trading case at least into the upper 2,000's, maybe more. Now I'm thinking that I would pay 800 for Freddy's watch, he went through alot of trouble on it and its is truly and handcrafted watch, so the other ones, if exactly like his would be the same deal, I just wish I could spend 800 on one right now.
  10. 800 for a rep is usually high, but that is one of the Holy Grails of watches, so I might, Under certain circumstances. It would depend on the accuracy compared to the gen, and how much it would save in comparison to building one. If you think about it, $800 could a fair price for this particular model, as the cases from NTDtrading cost $1150, then a aftermarket dial about $100, more for a gen refinish and around a thousand for a NOS gen dial. Then the movement will probably run around 400 for a Val 72, then another $100 or so for a quality band and rep buckle. That adds up to at least $1750. Add an engraved bridge for the movement for $200 and now you're into some decent used gen prices. Now I might lose a few people here, but I'm responding to 2 threads at the same time: When I was quoting those prices before, I was stating that for $800 I would want a watch that was assembled, not just a case kit that included only a case, bezel, crystal, and caseback. I am not familiar with the specifics of the DW kit, so I don't know if the V72 series is compatable with that case or not. The die hards insist on a V72 for a vintage daytona rep, but I'm not one of them. Overall, and I apoligize for typing and thinking at the same time, I probably could have saved you some reading time if I did the former 1st, but thats not what I was saying back there. For me, $800 is too much to spend on 1 aftermarket part, so they better throw in a dial, hands, band and clasp and movement for that price. Then I would have a watch. For $800 I'd think about it. With a V72 I'd ask how fast I could get it
  11. my prayers are definitely going out to them.
  12. Good thing you did the screenshot Vic, they changed it already.......
  13. Can't wait, I just may spring for something like that, maybe even go nuts and get one where daytona is on the top..... All I find for parts is ntd trading cases for $1150! There are others for about 800 too, but for this price I would like to just buy something thats all put together. It's crazy how something as simple as swapping a caseback can cause so much trouble.
  14. And it says her fans call her that......what then, I ask, do her enemies call her?
  15. Glad you got it fixed, those are nice watches you have there. I probably would have bought a daytona by now if it wasnt for all of the little things that happen with them. Where did you get that one with asymmetrical pushers anyway? Looks like the NTDtrading case that used to sell for $1200 on the bay. Very nice.
  16. I agree, there a thread somewhere about that, search keyless works and you'll find it. a watchsmith sould so it easily as well, maybe $30?
  17. How did you break it? Can you post some pics? maybe its not that bad and a jewler can fix it for less than a new one.
  18. I am in a humorous mood today, and I came across this: ebay 330185474305. Who knows what the quality of this rep is, but you have to love his ad "50% authentic" "must get" Wow. Don't get me wrong, this is not meant for the auction scams area.
  19. Sounds good, I have nothing to lose anyway! Thanks again freddy
  20. A guy is on trial for murder. The judge is reading the charges. "Sir, you have been accused of beating your wife to death with a hammer" "YOU BASTARD!!!!" a guy in back yells The judge looks up but continues. "You are also charged with beating your mother in law to death with a hammer" "BASTARD!!!" The guy in back yells again. This time the judge addresses that man. "Sir, if you cannot control yourself in my courtroom, I'm going to have to charge you with contempt of court." The guy responds, "I'm sorry your honor, but I've been living next to that BASTARD for 10 years, and every time I asked if I could borrow a hammer, he said he didn't have one."
  21. Thanks. I don't think I'll be putting money into this watch, but that tool may come in handy anyway. I'll check ofrei.
  22. Thanks Corgi, and thanks Nightstroker, that info is good. Now all I need to do is figure out how to get that rotor back on like in my other thread about this thing and I'm good. In the meantime, its a nice looking manual watch. I just wish it had a black band.
  23. I found one that has me cracking up over here with that guy: here
