  1. Seriously...that crap marketing blurb says nothing but that a "kinetic rotor" has been incorporated into it. TO DO WHAT???? Are the charging the battery on it?
  2. I was just going to say this. If I spent that much on a rep, I would definitely budget for a Ziggification. That is unfortunate with Josh. At least he's not leaving you high and dry in that he offered a refund..
  3. If they sell...and the brand image remains high...who are the idiots? The marketing department who probably initiated the new designs...or the people who buy them?
  4. Unfortunately it does if it sells. Just like the Ball diver watch that was put on sale...if it doesn't sell...and they have too much stock...they will reduce the price. If the demand is there...there is no need to adjust.
  5. Depends on where you are. I buy mine from H.W. Perrin in Toronto...or Somal Canada has them in Ontario as well...for that price in CDN dollars!!! I don't know if they do mail order to the US. From Ofrei, I think they cost $25 USD (don't know if that includes shipping). You can get the DG2813 from any of the supply houses...the DG4813 are harder to find...but available as well.
  6. You do realize that not everyone who bought one here is going to answer this thread. I'm sure only a small percentage of any watch bought by members here is actually posted on.
  7. Heh heh...I still want to know if Pho really does want his "ass in a can".
  8. It's not even all that practical a display either.
  9. Read the comparison linked in my Signature.
  10. Go to repair shop and get one sized to what you need. They're cheap, and they'll fit better. A plastic one will work just fine...you don't need a custom metal one if it's not in a display back case.
  11. The Chinese tourby's will in fact be tourby's...just not orbital tourby's...unless they've repped an orbital tourby movement...that I don't know. I'm not sure about this one (don't have time to look at the pic)...but the CN ones work just like the gens...they however aren't copies of any particular gen...other than the branding on the dial. The finish won't be the same...but it functions the same.
  12. You might want to change your topic title there Phoband...it's a little confusing. Is there a new Asian rep 7753 movement, or are you talking the 7750 with the mod??
  13. That's because you're not trying hard enough.
  14. Teejay's got access to the Platinum Club: Patek Thread
  15. It's an amazing rep...endorsed by many of us as one of the best around. The thing drips quality...just beware the crown thread thing...which I had The Zigmeister do the mod on for me with the gen crown and tube.
  16. I'm not sure what movement that is. You'll need one of the experts here to identify the hand size for you so you know what hands to get...and then you'll need a datewheel overlay for whatever dial you want to use...aligned for the dial you plan to use...you may or may not need a dial spacer ring to allow the datewheel overlay to rotate properly. Depending on the case you plan on sticking it in...you might need a movement holder.
  17. It depends if he bought it used or not. A pre-owned Daytona might have had the original crystal replaced with an un-etched aftermarket one. Heck...it could have have had everything replaced with cheaper aftermarket parts...like the reverse of people taking a rep base, and adding gen parts to make an uber-Frankentona. Who cares really...if the friends says it's real...let it go...move on. If you're into having a conversation on connoisseurship...then you gotta pull out your encyclopedia of details and facts!!
  18. Agreed...definitely not "perfection"...but the same with the Breitling Montbrillant Legende...I say "close enough for Jazz". They are good, high quality, fairly accurate reps...but as with all reps...there are always "tells" if you know what to look for. It's a good thing that 99% of the population doesn't know...nor could care less what to look for.
  19. Read The Zigmeister's post HERE. It could be an issue of merely regulating...but it could be symptomatic of another issue. Without looking at it more closely, it's hard to given an accurate assessment of where the problem is.
  20. You came to the right spot. We have some serious vintage diver fans here...and a couple pretty rare gens making appearances pretty regularly as well. You'll find some interesting threads related to your interests. You just found the best watch forum around. Rep or gen. Period. Read, search, learn, have fun...and share your experiences back with the board.
  21. Polo's prices are the same as the dealers usually used here...exactly the same for the most part so I have no reason to switch dealers. Good to have competition though.
  22. I think yellow on the running seconds hand only. But that's me...I like a little Bumble Bee...
  23. Hah hah. Well who am I to account for other people's taste? Sometimes people want the toothless "companion", with the glazed eyes, dirty hair, and open sores... RWG consistently has the most active forum posts...and the most amazing technical content and photography. Period. Lots of the Old Guard have been long time members of the other forums as well...mainly RG and cross post there...but we have killer content here and I think by far, the best interface. Oh...I guess the membership isn't bad either.
