  1. That's an amazing deal. I wished I liked the watch enough to wear it. This is like my "free Skyland" deal. Buy an A7750 movement and rubber strap...get a Free Graham!!
  2. You just found the best...best source of watch info...best community. Welcome aboard. Read the Noob Guide linked in my signature for an introduction to the world of reps and watch forum culture. It's a bit daunting...but will answer probably 99% of the questions you have in your mind right now...and the other 80% of the remaining questions you start forming will hopefully find answers through posts in the forum. In the guide there are links to reviews and technical information that should start your watch journey nicely. Read. Search. Learn. Share.
  3. Welcome aboard. If you came to learn...and you're willing to read, you will not find any better resource for watch information anywhere...gen or rep!! If you came to have fun with a community of watch enthusiasts...you found that as well. Read the Noob Guide linked in my signature for an introduction to the world of reps and watch forum culture. It's a bit daunting...but will answer probably 99% of the questions you have in your mind right now...and the other 80% of the remaining questions you start forming will hopefully find answers through posts in the forum. 4. I've bought the small ladies datejust with the President bracelet. It's a great looking rep. Mine had some QC issues on the crystal (alignment was off between cyclops and coronet etching)...but otherwise...pretty good.
  5. On all my gens and reps...even after The Zigmeister servicing, unfortunately, they're running about 1-2 hours ahead per appointment. Well...at least my wife is always saying I'm that late for everything...
  6. Congrats from a not so old-timer to a member of the old guard. I was a beneficiary of a Platinum upgraded account some time back by T...and have since renewed mine based on being quite impressed at the level of fun there is in frequenting the forum.
  7. I thought those were some amazing performances. Thanks for sharing!!
  8. That's my usual recommendation. Some reps we've seen by history, stop being made...and thus, can't be replaced readily We can never determine which these will be...so my theory is, if you have one you really like and would miss if it stops working...service it. Otherwise...let it die and buy new when the time comes.
  9. I doubt many. I've seen lots of the dealers sometimes have a watch on big sale that others don't. Ruby has the Ball on super sale right now...some of the dealers but not all had the CDs on sale awhile back...Peter had my Skyland on sale for super cheap as well. During all these sales...none of the other dealers seemed to follow suit.
  10. There's lots there I would take in flash: Exp II, GMT Master II, Patek 5054, IWC Porto, 3713 Doppel (YUMMMM!!!), great Omega collection, UN Blue Max... Lange 1?? Breguet 3137!!
  11. Hey...you support throught active and positive participation!! That counts for a lot!!
  12. I have smaller wrists (6.5") and find the Skyland is where I max out. I tried on the SA and it was BIG. The Skyland is big...but mostly in terms of thickness. The SA is big all 'round (thick and wide).
  13. I like the Speedie rep!! He might be an RWG member!!
  14. It's a tricky call. To throw a completely unqualified wrench into the mix...I think the other issue is revenue stream for career watch folks and customer demand. Folks that attend the forum here and care about watches in general would probably not want this solution...butI have said it time and time again, that we're a real minority as far as people who have mechanical watches in the wild. Many have cheaper watches and couldn't really care less about what's inside or what the item is...and just want to be able to wear it and not worry about it. MOST people are inherently cheap and want to take shortcuts where possible...especially with items they don't understand. From a business perspective for Offshore, I think you should consider it. The customers want it...if you explain the risk...you're offering a service they want at a price point they will consider...and it will bring in a customer base you would otherwise lose. If anybody has any watch worth anything...that becomes the role of the repairer as a subject expert to highly recommend proper servicing vs. a quickie. For somebody like The Zigmeister who does this is a hobby and has as a client base, watch ENTHUSIASTS...this isn't a product that would either suit the kind of work he does, nor the type of clients her services. BUT...for John Q. Public...who complains about a $10 battery change...how can you sell them on a $200 servicing charge? They would rather buy a cheap $130 quartz than maintain a mechanical watch....not recognizing the value it may have (emotionally, physically, etc). A $60 quickie gives them something...and costs less than the replacement watch they would otherwise have bought as an alternative.
  15. That's a great rep. I love mine (older model though without the red lettering).
  16. I'm with Shundi. Do nothing but wear it...as per the care and feeding instructions of The Zigmeister. Keep it for at least a couple months and figure out if you really like the watch. If you love it and want to make sure you have it over the long haul...consider servicing. If you merely like it but have it just as part of a rotation instead of being a cornerstone of your rotation...just wear it down and replace the watch when the time comes. It coud be as little as a year...or as long as MANY...individual mileage varies immensely on the lifespan of unserviced A7750 watches.
  17. I turned it down because he only wants to ship by registered courier. I wanted it shipped by standard post to avoid customs issues.
  18. You can use a vibrograph (expensive option) and test in 5 positions at various temperatures...or what most people do...set it to a computer using an atomic clock site...and then check it the next day after wearing it.
  19. Let me know when you find a good insert with a proper pearl. I've only seen ones with the same issue as our reps.
  20. Technically on a Rolex Daytona 16520, the older movement was a Zenith El Primero 400 used until about 2000. Yes...this movement was running at 36k...but Rolex modified it to bring it down to 28.8k. These can be found in Movado, Ebel, Tag, etc donor watches or movement sets and used to build Frankens. Ubi summarized things in this post far better than I've seen it done elsewhere (look for his reply)Ubiquitous' Reply to Daytona Movements Question:
