  1. My fingers are crossed and I am hoping for the best.
  2. It depends on the movement and how much you move your wrist. No arm movement - no wind. I suspect you can charge it up in five minutes if you wear it during certain "alone" recreational periods.
  3. Does the 239 have two different versions like the 243 does. I was very surprised at the difference in quality on that one.
  4. I would bet money on gen.
  5. Excellent review. I had been wondering about the quality on this one.
  6. First one was 76 AMC Hornet in a disgusting green. Next one was a 71 Chevelle SS 454 4-barrel though.
  7. Not boring at all. Nice job of easing into the topic with your boss.
  8. Well, I do hope everyone shows up. All four of my GMT's and PR's eagerly await.
  9. Put me down for 10. Very much looking forward to it.
  10. I am finding that as the rep collection grows so does my patience. I now think about what I would want as a permanent part of my collection before I buy. With the good information that the dealers are providing us with I already have 3-4 holy grails that I will buy as soon as they come out - AP ROO with correct subdials, Northpole GMT final version, 7753 187 (if it ever comes out). Everything else I plan on taking my time on. Of course the best laid plans of mice and men...
  11. I am guessing Star has it right. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this. The more money dealers make the more choice the cosumer will have.
  12. Now that the details are out it will be curious to see who tries to make a better version of the same phone. All the equipment manufacturers are getting bettter at updating models. I am sure it will get a big bang from the Apple loyalists but ultimately it will have to compete like everyone else.
  13. I prefer traditional phones to this. Heck, I am still waiting for the Pearl on my service. MAC's didn't do it for me (although my kids love them) and neither does this phone. But it is cool and will sell alot of units. Thanks for the post. I would have totally missed this otherwise.
  14. I wouldn't hold my breath. It is close enough that 99% of the people who actually want it will buy it.
  15. Somehow, I don't think they make as much as you think. Otherwise more of our dealers would be quitting their day jobs. But as long as we are getting what we want with the service we want I am happy. That is what makes capitalism great.
  16. The funny thing is we now see the rep maufacturers have access to the technology to make movements which will allow proper dial spacing and case sizing. I suspect that we will only see a really good contemporary Rolex rep if Rolex wakes up and makes a new model. Then the suppliers will have the incentive to make a custom movement to fit in a proper sized case, etc. I have read that the ante for a really good 1:1 rep is a 1,000 pieces or more. Who would take that risk on a model that has been in the market for years. I also always wonder whether Rolex does a good job of scaring away some of the high end factories. They appear to be the only ones who really go after folks. Why incur the expense or risk. If I were a factory I would not incur the risk for an oversold model. Well, maybe Rolex will wake up and do something original. That is is how we are going to get a really good rolex rep. So it's all Rolex's fault. It's an interesting strategy. Spend nothing on R&D or design and people still buy them.
  17. I was wondering the same thing in the context of whether it might be possible to buy the Northpole or 88 and retain the Asian parts and put them on a Swiss 7750 as that is readily available. Then you have a new "original movement" PAM. I suspect the only way to find out is to try it. Thst is one I am willing to give a try as I can always use the 7750 straight on in a sub or other old movement 7750. I think the first issue is whether the movement in the Northpole takes the same size hands as the gen 7750.
  18. For $400 or whatever the cost is they should give you the screw driver as they do on the Inge.
  19. Just because you have one? - You lucky guy.
  20. I spent 15 years at large investment banks and woke up one day realizing that I was averaging 15 days a month traveling and when I was in town my hours were pretty horrific. Now I am at a small firm with 2 partners who I have worked with for going on 20 years. Now I even get to see the kids. Life is all about choices and it sounds like you are making the right one Thomas.
  21. I am converting my Comex SD to a great white. The white is more subtle and you already have the right flat top crystal. IMHO, there are too many DRSD 's walking around as we speak.
  22. What would be the improvements beyond real screws on the back?
  23. Is it soup yet? Hey Arch and Ubi-Like the avatar?
