Good to hear you can swap datewheels as this is not always the case when going from Asian to Swiss 7750. Strike that. I just reread the post and it sounds like the font on the Swiss 7750 datewheel is better.
Looking at it again, I am liking it more and more. May just be a must have. My key question is what is the dial color and how it compares to the gen. You relume, fix that date font, add a Palp crown and you have a kick ass rep. Hmm!
This is kind of humorous. I see the title always wanting to read about new very accurate reps. The pushers are on the wrong side? The gen may or may not have a date at 6? It is nice looking though. Oh well, I do like Breitling but to date the only one I have bought is the ti Chrono Avenger.
If it is really only 2 weeks and you are that angry you are in the wrong hobby. Plenty of legitimate items take longer than that to arrive. You are buying illicit/ilegal items. Further, you imply that you have done business with him in the past or steered other friends to do business with him in the past. If that is true than you or your friends have had successful dealings with him or you should know better. In which case this post is even sillier.
I have not bought from Paul so I am not going to say he is the greatest. But even with the best of dealers two weeks is a reasonable time period. Now if the reality is you ordered and paid two weeks ago and not heard anything that is what you should say. In fact your post might say "I haven't heard from dealer in two weeks what should I do?" Then perhaps other forum members may be able to help.
By the way, if you take a read through the forum you will find that Paul is recognized to be the lowest cost but with some additional risks compared to other dealers on this forum.
Other than the date font, size of GMT hand and blue dial/ flat colored sub-dial it looks great. But when you talk to the rep manufacturer tell them all the recent GMT hands (Arktos, 88,89, etc.) are wrong. If they correctly sized it it would help sell all the newer GMT's.
Old case is a good thing. Welcome to the club. I am a beneficiary of Ubi's work on that one. My mystery movement is keeping time to within a minute per week. If you have any issues with movement start begging Ziggy.
Nice pics. Does anyone know how the gold is applied on the gen (or the reps for that matter)? At least with the others beyond the Black Seal the case is brushed stainless as oppopsed to titanium on that particular model.
No on the movement. As was said, gen has Lemania movement. On the crown guard/crown. For the CG your choice is to either slide in a small amount of very thin plastic tube around the pin to firm up the lever or replace the cg with Jimmy Fu CG available on ebay for $60 which has the plastic on it. The Fu CG is poslished though and I don't remember what comes on the 192. If you want a new crown, assuming you have the Ti version you could get a Palp brushed crown. IMHO, it is not a rep I would spend a lot of money on as the case is the wrong material in any case.
Yes, with 20/20 hindsight perhaps I picked too high a temperature. Everything is running fine though. I have declared it officially out of commission until I can get it back to Ziggy with the new 2893 datewheel and a pair of gen hands I have. Between the already present Palp crown, relume and Watchmen cyclops and the datewheel and hands I will then have a fairly fabulous rep.
Perhaps I should have titled this loop: What not to do when you have moisture under your crystal.
At the time I thought it was a good idea. Low level heat seeping in through the crown stem hole to dry out the crystal. And it appears the nylon is fine as the bezel is firmly in place. And yeah, I do think I will have to check for water resistance.
But seriously the Breitling AD did say that crystals popping out in the hot sun was a fairly common occurence.
