  1. Lol upland I need that last link aswell. There should also be an new alternative to pmwf.com soon, the daliacbmwf.com the 'divorced and living in a cardboard box man's watch forum'.
  2. Yep, that's pretty much the best around. Can't go too far wrong with it.
  3. Yeah, agree with sgtguk, held one next to a gen and examine it aswell, they are superb replicas. Get the black! The thing about the SW200 version is even though it does have some extra decoration as sgtguk said, I would have loved to see a full teardown to prove that it is a genuine sw200, but we never saw one for concrete proof? I'm sure it is a gen sellita but you never know with reps, it could just be another modded and decorated asian eta clone at a higher price? You'd be pretty much right not to bother paying the extra, the externals are all the same on each of them. But if you want the extra pearling on the movement and rotor then sw200 is where it's at. Even the lowly eta clone version I bought is part decorated so they all looked pretty close, the movement is in a small window anyway.
  4. Hi Vandal, yeah I did get one, I ended up getting the black ETA clone, and to me that even looks superb, tbh I wasn't too overly concerned about the fully decorated finishing, that's why I went with the cheaper movement option, It's working great since then and is an all round lovely watch, hard to say a bad word against these 500m. I don't think there's much difference between the quality of the movement from SW-200 to ETA here, afaik there have been many arguments down through the years criticising the sellita movements as poorer brothers or inferior clones of the ETA, but alot of this maybe just bull and negative marketing by eta. Heres an interesting article explaining more: http://www.ablogtoread.com/making-sense-of-the-sellita-sw200-movement-same-as-eta-2824-2/ So if you want the slight extra movement finishing then sw-200 is the way to go but imo dearer doesn't make much difference with these, the ETA and the SW200 are just as likely to be a chinese eta clone anyway
  5. Yeah, hope they get them in soon tbh, hate ordering some parts and then waiting for another delivery before you can even unbox the first order! I would love to see both a decent AT and ceramic PO but wouldn't hold my breath, sometimes it's hard to know what way it will pan out, I think we are along way from a ceramic PO rep, too many awkward things to be tackled on the newer one, dial, movement, bezel are all a big step up. It will be interesting to see the iterations of it, ....it might be even buyable in about two years or so Also love the teak AT's, so far they reps are poor, but these could be tackled with a little bit of effort on the factories part, they might get round to one as they are not exactly difficult except for the display caseback,. When it comes to the factories it's hard to know what approach they will take next, I reckon they look at the AT and think 'this might sell ok.....ah, maybe not...lets do another PAM'
  6. ttt, nice one vandal, looks great, also hawaiian robot how are things going with yours?
  7. Btw, sgtguk, let us know what you get if you pick up one
  8. So true on both opinions above, and also good lume out of the box, and you can be sure the crown/tube is unlikely to strip within two days. Steinhart seem to hold value very well on the 2nd hand market, so they are well sought after. Don't get me wrong...reps are great but bloody hell, you'd need patience with them. There are so many good offerings with these boutique brands you are getting quite a lot for the money put into them and not just paying for a brand name. The main features everyone wants can be got for much cheaper, Bremont seem to be trying the kind of Kobold approach of forgetting about history and branding and just build a complete tank of a watch and just lump it in there and line it up with Omega/Rolex/IWC and mass market that they build it as good if not better than the big brands. Wether this works remains to be seen....it has worked for some though, Panerai, Hublot. (Even though Panerai tagged on the very tenuous link to a prestigious past into the marketing for added effect). I would put my money towards something else aswell, but some people like to take a chance and test them out as an alternative.
  9. I found this funny....bloody hell fire, no wonder there's parts falling off reps
  10. #sh*t, yeah just see that about the hands, wow that's a delay, in fairness it's a factory supply estimate, usually they'd get them in sooner than that, happened to me on a few straps before, quoted months and months delay ahead, then had them at my door in about 2 or 3 weeks.
  11. They should open up a dealer who just provides parts only, he'd do well I think with reps we just have to accept even at the very minimum a bit of prevention out of the box is better than cure later....that loctite is great stuff
  12. Don't think so, agree with Importr, titanium is one of those materials that just wouldn't get enough attention in sales for the factories to go to the extra effort in providing separate replications. It has happened before with other makes, I think there are some popular Pams replicated in Ti, it is rare though. Saying that, there are nice reps of the watch you are looking for in steel so all isn't lost, if you go for one of them, you are getting a very accurate rep.
  13. Good man galiman, let us know how it goes with Andrew, he is fast anyway, I'll say that about him, let us know when you receive QC.
  14. Case No: 168.1650 is the 45mm PO version, different sizes....don't use them, ....use the hands and other parts from either case no: 168.1653 (Full Orange 42mm PO) or case no 168.1651 (Full Black/White 42mm PO)
  15. Not saying anything about Andrew, he is a fine dealer, just that these things happen, breakdowns before shipping do happen, even with the big boys. I don't know what's going on with Trevor tbh, his comms have always been s**t, .....but newbies (not just you galiman) come out and ask 'who is the cheapest?' and then when they are told, they then still seem to want the same level of attention as the dealers that are $100 more expensive. At the same time, Trevor is a trusted dealer on all forums but the way he is communicating lately with his customers I can see him being stripped of his TD status at least on some soon, it's great he offers a cheap price, but unless you are willing to put up with delays and no comeback then pay the full price. There are other dealers such as Tony asian7750, marvellousreplica that offer good prices aswell.
  16. I'd agree with that! I refuse to put one dealer on a pedestal over any other
  17. Nothing wrong with Trevor either, just wondering was there a breakdown in communication here, these things happen, not sure we are getting the full picture?
  18. Didn't know watcheden had any watches above $138 looks interesting, price is a fair chunk to be testing the waters with....haven't seen it on any other dealer? Then again watcheden manages to come up with some 'unique' stuff.
  19. First I'm hearing about wrist-check, never heard anything about it before? Was that site new? My interest is piqued now....is it any good...or was it any good?, guess we'll never know now! This forum has all the old school rep people on board and an amazing amount of knowledge because of that.... they know their s**t! This is a quote from a forum member called sixbennetts, I think it summed all the fora up quite well
  20. Thanks for the update zorro, keep us posted
  21. Please tell us what you think frankt Pho I hear what you are saying about almost all brands being part of 'bigger' holding companies or corporations these days, it's no big deal, and I certainly don't want to go on about CW, I have no affiliation with them or loyalty to them in any way. It's just that the thread above you linked to is just a generic thread on the CW forum, from an average poster with a question mark on the end of the statement about their link to fossil. In fact the mods over there and cw themselves on another thread debunked that 'theory' as they certainly do seem to have some problem with being 'linked' to fossil. http://www.christoph...fossil&start=15 Anyway I do not care who makes cw watches, just trying to clarify a statement. As far as I was aware it was part eastern european/part chinese operation then shipped to Jura to private assembly unit and assembled just the adequate amount to get 'swiss made' on the dial! Anyway where were we; this thread is about Steinhart, again, nothing wrong with them, we all love reps, sometimes we take for granted the fact that we can get sapphire crystal and decent ar and resonable finishing for less than 200 dollars, it's a great deal....Most sub 200 dollar gens don't have these features so sometimes we have to be patient and accept that in the gen market you have to pay that little bit extra for some of the features we have become accustomed to getting on reps. It would also be nice to see some of these boutique companies be a little bit original in their designs and not just clone everything the see from mid range manufacturers. I guess it's not always possible unless you have a design team on hand being fed quite a bit of money. Bremont are interesting...no doubt, some really unique stuff. Will they be able to compete with the competition though, they are up against some big brands in that price range, in that market they really have to let the design and build quality of their offerings speak for themselves, it will be interesting to see what the next 10 years holds for the likes of Bremont.
  22. Nice one ade, interesting to meet true watch fans and have a good conversation about reps/gens without any of the usual snooty stuff that goes on in gen forums. I find it's most often the older watchmakers that are much less hung up about brands and gens and are happy to talk openly about the love of watches. Also cheers, Gran, it's a really lovely watch, I read your review, they are pretty hard to find now but they are available with some slight changes, it makes a lovely dress watch.
