My new watch is a very special one :-)

Dear all,

Here is a very special watch to me.

There are good reasons for me to say that, and some of you know what I mean.

Thanks again to the gang.

This is a Schuhren watch, hand made by Andy, assembled by Emily, coming in a luxury packaging.

The watch description

German made 42mm, 3 piece 316 stainless steel case

Genève stripes finished hand wind movement.

Water resistant to 5 ATM

German made leather band with Tang Buckle

Sapphire crystal with double AR coating

Display screwed case back

The movement

AndilyPilotWatch_800_0023.jpg

21600 beats per hour.

It is based on a Unitas 6497 (base plates from Seagull) and skeletonised over the period of a month.

It was then finished and gold plated 3 times.

“The idea is to show as much of the working movement as possible so that it is all in the open and people can see how it works” said the watchmaker. :1a:

The going train was made with polished and brushed gears to show contrast between different gears.

The canon pin is polished as well.

The movement throughtout has full pearlage from the dial side to under the plates!

And here is one more, cased in my watch.

The watch’s photos

As you noticed, the watch I have is a pilot one :D

From all the custom made watches, this version is the one we preferred when meeting at the Brussels 2009 GTG. B)

The lume is perfect, no comment to add to this photo… :p

The big crown is giving it a very “solid feel”. :yeah:

AndilyPilotWatch_800_04.jpg

The dial is clear and easy to read.

It gives all the information you want to see to read the time.

I know that it sounds an obvious goal for watches to tell the time, but this watch does it right away.

Epilogue

If you want more information about Schuhren, visit their web site.

I can only say that I like this watch very much, and not only because it is build by Andy and has been assembled by Andy’s daughter…Mademoiselle Emily.

I simply like the watch! :good:

Oh, forgot to mention, mine is number 16 from the new born watch brand Schuhren.

Cheers

Stephane

Fantastic! :thumbsupsmileyanim: Excellent workmanship. A fine piece to behold.

I too, would like this watch regardless if Andy made it or not, but the lineage makes it invaluable.

Love the case too.

very beautiful. i love pilot's watches and that is extra stunning given the movement!! wear it in good health

Very, very nice Steph. You are a lucky fella!

That MVT is a work of art. So much effort in the amount of skelling that has been done there. There is not a single Square mm of metal that does not have to be there. Very impresive!

What a beautiful and special watch Stephane. I took your advice and checked out the web link; quality stuff there.

This is one for the list for sure.

Thank you for posting.

Schuhren Time Pieces is like my age old dream for the RWG watch... :whistling:

I like them but what about the name di you think they would be willing to put another name on the dial like The Zigmeisterwatch? :g:

Lovely piece :)

Schuhren were one of the first places I was looking at when I joined but in the end I felt that I couldn't stretch to them :(

They are quality items though and that skeleton work is amazing - definitely a keeper! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I thought I would add a few photos of my Schuhren. It is a real stunner and Andy managed to make it just they way I wanted. The watch keeps perfect time and has an unbelievable quality to it. These are such good value for money and the AR is some of the best I have seen. Enjoy the photos and thanks Andy once again for building it for me. I must order another one from you again soon!

Amazing gift:) It's a stunner! What does it wear like? I see its 42 mm, but does it wear like a Tag aquaracer or does the watch feel smaller?

Oh yes, I'm pleased.

It's really a great watch.

As a matter of fact, it does not wear "big".

That also is an amazing point.

Not only because it's 42 cm wide but it's high too.

I don't really feel it bigger than my 16800 or 16610.

It's very confortable.
