ok...i'm not sure how this will play out - but i've been thinking about this post for awhile...

Ever see a wristie or read of some amazing pieces from someone here...Then say to yourself "damn - wish i could see THAT collection" (and yes, we all share this envy with Lani's stockpile...errr - collection!)...Ever say, damn Dluddy has every PAM ever repped - wonder what his favorites are?!...sure it's hard to pick a couple favorites...but if the house was burning, which watches would you grab... :whistling:

So here's my intent with this post...

1. Select a member who's collection you are interested in a closer glimpse...

2. Ask him/her to see THEIR top 3-5 pieces...sure this can be a little daunting a task as it's tough for many of us to trim down the list to only a couple...but when asked, select the pieces that you find are ones you would never part with - your favorites...no gens...frankens, reps, etc allowed...criteria is personal choice...and does not need to reflect value, rarity, etc...obviously a couple pix of the watches would be great...but if not, a list will do...

You don't need to wait on replying to someone's inquiry...for example, you can post a thread requesting to see Ubi's favorite pieces...when Ubi read's the request for his favorites, he'll respond - and if he hasn't already done so, he'll post a request for someone else's favorites...no need to request the favorites list of the person asking for yours...

No duplicate entries...if someone asks for Ubi's favorites - no one else should ask...

If you see someone who hasn't responded to a request from a member in this post and you know him/her - pm em with this post...

I figure let's have some fun with this...

This note was partially inspired by RobertK...i don't know Robert - but i look forward to his posts and would kill to see his collection...

I'll start:

Robertk

Not only is his collection vast - but he has some of the coolest pieces on RWG...

Should we wait until the requested party has replied prior to making any new requests from others?

my original thinking is No!...

we shouldn't wait...if we did - this thread could stall...part of the fun is checking out this thread to see if someone requested your top 3-5...and i'm hoping with this being an active thread, many people will get to see some amazing pieces...

the request should be made for that person to name THEIR favorites - it's not a request thread...(ahem, pete!)

OK

Then I would like to see DLuddy's top 3-5 PAMs.

First, great idea for a thread and I will will be posting my request!

OK, narrowing down is not one of my strong points but these are definitely the Top group. I've built and owned a lot of PAM's but not as many as some others. I gravitate mostly to the T-Dial manual wind Historic's with the exception of my soft spot for the Silver Arrow Automatic Power Reserves. I'm not much of a Chrono guy and although I love the Daylights, eventually sold them off to complete other projects. These are the core that, although times have been tough and I often I think about selling, still remain in the collection.

First up is my Franken 027A Silver Arrow Franken - Gen Dial, Crown, Lello DW, Marco Cyclops, Ziggy assembly, Correct seconds hand (not in picture)

Next is the 028A Silver Arrow - Hopno dial, Rolli PVD, Gen Crown, Lello DW, Marco Cyclops, correct seconds hand (not in picture)

Next is my Franken 003B - Gen T-Dial & Hands, Gen Crown, Thick B series caseback, Ziggy assembly

pam003bfranken.jpg

Next would be my Pre-A 002 - Simon Dial, Zig Lume, Gen Crown, Jimmy Case expertly polished by Brobert, Correct caseback, Zig assembly

pamprea02.jpg

Last would be my 5218 pair (hard to split them up):

5218-201/A - Perfect Pre-V case, Drilled with correct Pre-V Dual screw Lug bars, Simon Dial filled with Genuine Tritium by Zig, Gen Crown, V CG

pam5218201afullymoddedw.jpg

5218-202/A - DSN case Cape Cod Polished to correct color/lustre, FGD DIal lumed by Zig, PRE_V dual screw Lug Bars, Gen PVD crown

pam5218202apostmods.jpg

Honorable mention and one I don't think I'll ever sell - PAM 024A - Zig polished the bezel, removed the lume buckets and free-form T-lumed the dots, Gen crown, soon to get an ultimate crystal for better mag, Lello DW

pam024aonoemcoramiddive.jpg

And just for you Pete - my 026B Luminova - Zig PVD's case with correct Destro CG and nice B series caseback, Zig C3 Lumed dial, Gen PVD Crown

OK, my request is to see the Top 3 in Richard Lawton's collection. Someone has already asked for Robert's who would have been my other initial choice. I have always admired Richard's collection and I know he has handled most of the best in reps at some point.

Come on Richard, show us the Top 3-5 thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Don

Firstly Thank you. Secondly WOW! a selection of PAMs that individually are great but say much more as a group about PAM collecting. To me they draw on all the good things about a PAM.

Thanks Rob for a great idea and big thanks to Don for taking the time and sharing. I was never one for white dials but have to say that that 03B really hits the mark. Now thats a model I will have to own at some point, really very nice. But they are all nice, great choice. Still love that 26 - was that my freebie pic!! :D

PAM porn, I love it!

Thanks again. This is a thread I will return to again and again even if no one else posts!! :D :D

Nice PAMs, DL! But I'm wondering what you have that aren't of the Panerai variety?

Yea, seems like I'm a PAMaholic but I actually have a pretty diverse collection. I blame Kruzer for getting me into the PAM modding game whistling.gif

I am a huge Omega and IWC fan and actually made my way to the forums looking for a good 16600 Sea Dweller (still have my fingers crossed for the WM9 release for that one).

I'll work on a "Other Top 5" post for you Ubi thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
