freddy333 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Orchi is not 1 of the most knowledgeable sources (he is more monkey-see than monkey-do) & his 'article' (just a blog entry) contains no real news for any long-time RWG member.
what2 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I love gens, have a couple and bought another yesterday...but since these guys bid beatup rolex watches to the $10,000 or more I can't do it.. and if I did would be afraid to wear it.
kbh Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 So how many went and looked at their vintage Rolex to check?

gplracer Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 What does the author mean by short and long stroke "E"?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 What does the author mean by short and long stroke "E"? in the lug engraving of "registered design" etc all the horizontal lines in E should line up where as the middle horizontal stroke falls short of the length of the baseline and the topline compare "REGISTERED DESIGN" printed here with the engraving between the lugs on a fake vintage case
Dizzy Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 These guys think they're all such experts.. Its funny that its getting down to the smallest details that they need to look for to tell if a watch is fake or not.... The letter "E" on the case lug engraving and the "f" on the Submariner dials... Yet... you can apparently post a stock Noobmariner (on a gen rolex forum) and even the most senior board members are praising it. Then the guy that calls in out as a fake gets flamed and almost banned. These gen guys are about 5 yrs behind when it comes to replica technology. The rep cases that they just discovered and cant believe how good they are, have been around for years. I agree.. there is a LOT more knowledge here than on any gen forum.
Ronin Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 This is the response to be expected by Orchi and some of his followers. They are way too hung up on what could be considered simple "aftermarket replacement parts". If Rolex won't support their customers/vintage models, I think it is great that these parts are in the wild. I don't see him throwing a fit over Clarks crystals or the dozens of "aftermarket bezel inserts" which seem perfectly legal. The larger problem is because of Rolex's business practice, people will get screwed when these cases are passed off as 100% original.
highoeyazmuhudee Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 most gen owners on those forums have a "holier than thou" attitude.
theblueprince Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Orchi has an agenda and seems to be able to make all the dumb masses follow it. There are a few who know better on TRF and VRF. Prob a half dozen or so very knowledgable guys on TRF and a few more on VRF. Sadly even these guys tend to not post so much anymore as they're fed up of all the BS and idiots (esp on TRF) who post utter nonsense day in day out.
