TwoTone
Some people change the world... A select few have such an effect on history, technology, and creativity that they actually reinvent the world we live in... Steve Jobs was one of the select few... R.I.P. redwatch
Such a great quote from his 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech: No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

jeff g
A great loss for humanity...certainly a genius. But then as he had stated clearly, death is a way to make way for change. While he was with us he changed the whole world.

freddy333
Jobs was certainly 1 of the world's greatest product marketers. With insanely great timing/luck, more drive than a starving bulldog & an artist's eye for re-branding (or theft, depending on whether you are reading this on an Apple product or not), Jobs was able to squeeze unimaginable profits out of Apple's rocky success. Requiescat in pace Steve.

Ronin
I just watched the Apple Keynote from Tuesday. They kept showing an empty chair that said reserved across it. I found that very odd. Either, they were planning a cameo by Steve before his health turned, or they knew and had the empty seat as some sort of reverent tribute. The Keynote is available on iTunes or Apple.com. freddy333
Lol theft? what did Jobs steal? "Picasso had a saying: 'Good artists copy, great artists steal.' We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas..." --Steve Jobs Virtually all of the salient features of the original Mac were invented & 1st put into daily use at Xerox Parc. The 1st mp3 player, upon which the iPod was based, was 1st seen at Diamond Labs. Based on Steve's history of putting pretty covers on others' ideas & calling them his, to paraphrase a line from the movie Paper Moon -- if Steve's selling it, you can bet it was invented by someone else.
