"It's all gone"

Thousands have lost everything...loved ones.. homes..communities...pets.etc. So very very sad.

My heart and prayers go out to these devastated people. I look around me today and count my blessings...something I dont do enough.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words.

It is truly heartbreaking. This really has been a devastating winter for so many people and I really can't imagine living through what these folks are enduring right now, I would know where to start. The posted picture really does speak volumes.

Purely devastating. We were very fortunate here in Lexington KY that nothing touched down. Very scary aspect of living here compared to the very docile weather I came from in Ontario. My thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the fury of mother nature.

Once again, nature shows us all how small and fragile our lives are.

Indeed a tragedy, and my hopes are for those who lost everything or something...

We shouldn't forget that those kind of disasters happen in lesser fortunate parts of the world on a daily basis, and we never even hear about them.

This has been a crazy winter in this neck of the woods, weather-wise. I was in Lexington, KY the night of the storm. Thankfully nothing happened near me.

Grew up in the midwest, so these kinds of storms were a regular occurrance for me growing up. A F5 nearly hit my father's workplace when I was 10.

Caught this one just outside Grand Island, NE back in the 80's.

They are beautiful storms in many ways, but incredibly dangerous and devastating to anyone (and anything) in their path.

Not to sound cruel but it never ceases to amaze me how poor the building standards are in these places that are prone to tornados. So many trailer parks and wood cabins seem to get absolutely pummelled. Don't they have bricks down there? Shouldn't the building code be strengthened to be able to withstand these storms?.

Terrible to see :( As Andreww said, it's a shame the buildings are built to be replaceable, rather than built to last. Can't imagine what it must be like to lose everything like that, a humbling thought indeed...

Unfortunately that is not the reasoning behind these wooden builds, areas that are prone or at risk to these types of natural disasters are almost always this type of construction as it is far cheaper to re-build than a typical brick & mortar building. Its economies of scale, its more than probable that any dwelling be it brick & mortar or wood will be decimated so the reasoning is purely financial.

Thoughts go out to all those who have who have been affected.

It is a sad reminder that what the media see as news worthy headlines and worthy of our concern and worry on a daily basis is in reality completely overshadowed by the forces of nature across the planet as a whole...

And even when they can be bothered the main thing that catches their attention is something involving dogs and old people...

I would like to say I remember when newspaper reported the news and didnt sell fear and scaremongery or the endless list of celebrites getting drunk when out or whatever they do,,

But unfortunately I cant....

My thoughts are with everyone effected by the devestation ...
