edgematic1 Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Yesterday I've paid a visit to the Baselworld fair in ... Basel, indeed. I enjoyed it as much as I did last year, going on a Sunday is better than on a usual working day, less crowded (still crowded though!). After spending our night in a hotel in Morschwiller-Le-Bas with the LVMH crew (staying at the same hotel) we left for Basel (about 30min away). The hotels in Basel are always fully booked so if anyone wants to visit Baselworld the next year, I advice to book very early or book a hotel around Basel. I've spent 6 hours at the fair, which is NOT enough. Though, my GF was with me so I had to hurry up a bit, she likes watches, but walking around 6 hours at a fair makes her hurt her feet! Those high heels... Anyhow, since I've made a whole weekend of it, I could only snap a few shots since my camera was full. Some brands are missing as you will see, but wait until Basel is finished and you'll see a lot more and much better pics floating around the internet. The exhibition halls I loved the most was the Palace at Baselworld (smaller brands had their booth overthere, such as MB&F, HYT, Urwerk, De Bethune, Christophe Claret, ...) and the Bulgari exhibition hall (this is just INSANE!). The main hall with the main watch brands is nice as well but sometimes TOO crowded, there can be a waiting queue to see a new watch... Anyhow, I was exhausted after the visit, but here are the pics (I'm not good at photographing, so don't kill me on my skills...): At the parking in front of the Hotel: Entrance of Hall 2 with the Baselworld clock: Romain Jerôme DNA Eyjafjallajökull Linde Werdelin (small stand, only about 6 watches, they even asked if I ever heard about them! nice lady though! love these watches) Hermes (for the GF) Blancpain: Bell&Ross: Ball: Oris Pro Diver (HUGE watch!) Paul Picot: U-Boat:
edgematic1 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 Glashütte: Tudor (lovely novelties!) Hublot (most entertaining booth)
edgematic1 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 Rolex: Patek Philippe: Rolex: Patek Philippe: Corum: I wish I could've stayed longer and do everything on a slower tempo so I could have taken more pics! Lot's of brands are missing, due to my HD card that was full because of the whole weekend (went to the Vitra Design museum & campus the day before = pics as well!). Anyhow, anyone else who went to Basel, share your pics as well! 1
andreww Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Okay, didn't Breitling show up???? Thanks for posting this, very entertaining! And I have to ask, did you wear a rep?
edgematic1 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 Okay, didn't Breitling show up???? Thanks for posting this, very entertaining! And I have to ask, did you wear a rep? Yep, Breitling was there as well, but my camera was getting full and took pics of the brands that take most of my interest. Not a fan of Breitling. Was wearing a gen AP15300, would be crazy to go there with a rep in between jewelers, AD's and even CEO's...
duke1973 Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Wow, nice pictures! The no-date sub and Tudor are looking GOOD!
Adeodatus Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 My two favories. That B&R is absolutely stunning Thank you very much for these pictures.
gran Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 WOW its official: Genuine PATEK with other colours than blue dial on SS bracelett....or is it white gold?
Noel Fleischer Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Thank you very much. I also like the Tudors, new DJ2, Blue YM, Glasshutte, some Hublots, etc, etc. Also some very weird pieces that must cost a fortune.
By-Tor Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Thanks for the pics. Does anyone know what happened to the new and bigger "orange hand" maxi dial Explorer II? It was supposed to be released this year. I also like the blue YM and the new bigger DJ. New Subs leave me cold. Not to mention SSD and YMII. Both are (still) ugly as hell.
Ronin Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Rolex jumped the shark in 2010. (Tudor designers to the rescue perhaps)

Arthur1 Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 I'll start saving for the reps now. The Home Plate needs a couple of brothers in the box!
Tom Hawkes Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 Modem just went up in flames. Like the Big Crown Tudor and the No Date Sub.
StormTooper4 Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 If the Hublot stand is like their new(ish) Singapore shop , then those display stands are amazing , with the watches disappearing and reappearing. Those new Rolex dajejust look nice, Was that a silver dial or White agree that snowflake tudor is a winner these really appeal to me now. Thanks so much for taking the effort to share this with us
JEKS Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 OK, the round B&R is making me drool. Talk about outspoken class. - J
